My husband and I bought tickets to Madrid because we found low airfare- I knew nothing about Spain before our trip in Feb 2017... I can say- I LOVE SPAIN NOW- and can't wait to go back. Taking the train to Toledo was super easy. We rented a car and drove to Valley of the Fallen, El Escorial, Segovia, Avila, and San ildefonso... we especially loved Segovia! And El Escorial was just gorgeous. So much to see and do in Spain! Thanks for all your video tips- they have helped immensely!
Hi Mark! Once again you have come through as my personal tour guide. I'll be going to Madrid next month for my birthday. While I'm there I'm going to visit Toledo. Always great info! Update: I went to Madrid & Toledo and had an awesome time.
Hey Wolter, thanks for the video. Going to Madrid in February. Also going to Barcelona. While I am in Madrid, what are the best places outside of Madrid to see, Segovia and Toledo? or something else. Also which bus company do you recommend? it seem it would be better to take the bus instead of the train. Thanks for your help
That's considered a place to see in Madrid itself. This video is about other town/city to visit that is not far from Madrid (and still make it back to Madrid in the evening).
Alcala de Henares is a different city from Madrid, is in the same region and is nearer to Madrid than all the other cities he said (just 40 minutes from Atocha station). I am telling this because I live in Alcala and I go to Madrid to work every day
Augusto Lugo, if you love places that are not crawling with tourists then go to Cáceres. For me, the most beautiful authentic medieval city I have ever seen (and I've been to Prague, Florence and Venice, among others). But hurry up! Game of Thrones has benn recently shooting there and...
Awesome Vid!!! But there is not a palace in El Escorial, it is a Monastery, where all the kings & queens of Spain are buried. The palaces of Spain are in Madrid (Palacio Real/Palacio de Oriente), near Segovia (La Granja) and between Madrid and Toledo, in Aranjuez (Palacio Real de Aranjuez)
There is also a palace in El Escorial, where Philipp the 2nd spent his last years. It is inside the same building (it's a huge one!) that the monastery. There are also two other royal palaces near Madrid, smaller than the ones you've mentioned: El Pardo and Riofrío.
If you are into royal palaces maybe you should visit La Granja and Aranjuez. They both have inmense gardens with stunning fountains. There are other "little" royal palaces like Riofrío (close to La Granja) and El Pardo (north of Madrid) as well.
Hey, man! I know you have many great videos about Prague, but I'm planning a trip to Europe and I'm wondering if they accept Euro bills at restaurants, museums and shops there. If they don't, what's the best way to exchange money in there? I just wanna make sure I don't get in any tourist trap.
Thank you so much for such a great, informative video. A lot of times when I watch videos on places to go, the creator is more interested in promoting themselves with ridiculous music or dumb skits. Thank you for showcasing the beauty of each place you go and not following what other UA-camrs are wrongfully doing. Keep up the great work & keep on travelin :)
Great videos. You may have already answered this question in the past video, but are you a teacher, Wolter? The reason I ask is, firstly, you would be a great one; secondly, lots of vacation days, holidays, and summers off. So, I figured, as much as you and your family travel, you guys are probably teachers...or hitmen:)
In june me and a friend (both 16) are going to London together, we are from the Netherlands. I wonder if it is unsafe, and what we can do to make it safer. I like your videos, thanks!
Don't do things you don't do in Holland. And check out the free museums. London Eye and the Dungeons can be very expensive. And of course don't visit Harrods bloody expensive

discoverer of our world together with Portugal. :-)
I've been to Segovia and Toledo and both were awesome!
a lot of people (esp north europeans) only go to spain to the coast the costa de sol etc but central spain has so much to offer
Alan Bouse yeah, but there are a lot of tourist as japanese, chinese, Americans who go to Spain to see the monuments, the history about the country...
The summer palace in Aranjuez?!?!?! 1 train from Atocha station which is reasonably priced and the gardens and the river is beautiful!!
Nothing to do there but the palace and gardens are worth the trip, I agree.
Huge fan of day trips while on holiday. What a great video. Love the Cathedral of Segovia over your shoulder. Looks quite spectacular. 👍
I've heard of so many good things about Spain! Even where you are standing looks stunning !
Will be going to Madrid this Christmas. Will explore the surrounding towns as well.
Thanks Wolter! I'm excited for my trip to Spain ! I was going to skip Spain but your videos changed my mind :)
How was it?

Thank you! Your videos are so informative and inspiring :) Spain just looks wonderful and interesting and beautiful.
Thanks, Mr. Mark.
I went to Avila.
Loved Toledo. This october I am also going to take the fast train to Zaragoza , the price is a lot cheaper if bought in advance .
You are always so helpful
Wolter, thanks for all your videos.
I watch all your videos about travels, they are awesome and loads of information.
Thanks!
Next time you should visit Alcalá de Henares. Just have a look, mate.
Segovia is one of my favorite cities! Unfortunately, I wasn't yet vlogging the last time I was there. Oh well...guess I'll just have to go back!
Excellent video, as all and every one of them. I declare myself your fan in Cancún. God bless your family, you guys are awesome!
Aranjuez is a day trip too from Madrid, as well as Alcala de Henares, the hometown of Cervantes.
Love this video, very informative. Thank you.

We are planning on going to Madrid last week of August, is it still as hot as it’s today?😢
Hello mark
Nice!
Hopefully one day will go to Segovia ! That's my married name. ✌🏼
Hi Wolter. Great work Man. Do you have to book bus or train travel in advance? Or can they be bought on the same day?
Hi, thanks for the video. Could you recommend any transportation from the Madrid Centre (Cibeles or so) to the Toledo?
Ave (bullet train). It takes just half an hour to get from Atocha (a train station in downtown Madrid) to Toledo.
primero mi amore! ;)
How many countries have you been to?
