- In this video, we visit the city of Toledo. Just a 30-minute train ride from Madrid, Toledo is the old capital of Spain and is home to some beautiful architecture and views, including the alcazar, cathedral and mirador.

Thank you for this most informative presentation - most appreciated.
It's a pity that you could not go into the Cathedral. It truly is stunning with all of its alcoves, small chapels, and crypts throughout.
Yes, it really was a quick visit so we had to decide what to miss out
Nice commentary and beautiful sights. Background music was a bit too loud. As a compliment, I kept thinking ("that sounds a little like John Lennon) and was waiting to hear "On behalf of the group I hope we passed the audition! 😂😂
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it. Yes, it's always difficult trying to decide the level of the music. Hopefully, we get better at it over time.
Great video! Thanks alot!
Glad you enjoyed it
Great video. Helped us decide to go there from Madrid.
That’s great to hear. Madrid is a great base for visiting other smaller historic cities. Toledo is lovely, and I’d also recommend Segovia (we have a video on that too if you’d like to check it out)
@@robonholidayblog We already watched Segovia after watching Toledo. Our final destination will be Bilbao to board a cruise.
Wow, that sounds amazing. Have a great trip.
@@robonholidayblog Thank you.
Thank you

Appreciate your video. Did you book madrid to toledo (and back) in advance, or did you walk up and buy when you were ready?
@pmmahone1 Thank you for your comment. We booked our tickets about a month in advance just to be safe. I assume you can book on the day if there are seats left.
To buy a ticket and have good selection on departure and return times, you'll need to purchase tickets 3 days in advance. Same day purchase options are very poor. This is late May 2024. Also, I found the ticket kiosks not useful as the ones I tried would not accept credit cards. Instead go to the RENFE ticket office in the botanic garden in the old terminal.
Yes, we would always recommend people book ahead of time. Sorry to hear about your problems with the ticket machines. We generally seem to be alright with cards in Spain, although the odd time it doesn't work in McDonald's for some reason.
How was the weather. I cold see the frost from your mouth
Generally it was warm, but in the shadows in the thin streets it did feel quite chilly.
Where do you book your tickets? Renfe app and website always show no train.
We always book on the Renfe website but tickets are usually available only 2 months in advance. So if you are booking any later than for the first week of October it won’t show.
I would recommend getting lost in the old city instead of the train.
I agree with this. It's just that we didn't have much time in the city, so had to pick some quicker options.
What other 1 day trips do folks recommend also from Madrid please?
I also recommend Segovia (we have a video on that too if you're interested). And there's also El Escorial and Ávila. Lots of options.
What time of year was this?
This was in the middle of February
Did you pay for the train tour with euros or credit card?
We paid on card, 7 euros each. Just before the train started running, the sales people were setting up in the main square and we bought the tickets from them.
Oops, I went to Toledo and not Segovia.
We still really loved Toledo, especially the viewpoint and the cobbled streets.
Video is bad. Get a better mic!
Video is bad. Can’t hear you talk. Get a better mic! Music is loud!
