Yes, I am definitely in tornado alley now. Southwest Missouri, right in the corner of the state, Joplin. As you may know we had an E5, E6 in some areas, tornado in 2011. Devastation was unimaginable and many lives lost. Lived here my entire life and though we definitely had rough weather in the Spring, nothing like the last 10 to 15 years. We are all very "tornado aware" and the last couple of days have been very active with sirens, weather alerts, tornado sightings, etc. Big changes in the weather patterns. Prayers for all affected by this week's weather.
I remember that, it was horrible!

Hello fellow gardener 😊 I live in Joplin, MO as well and we were here when the deadly tornado tore through town. I had never seen so much destruction and so many people lost at one time.
Carthage here, hit by an EF1 this past Tuesday, our street is terrible, all the beautiful old growth trees that were lost. I'm thankful our house is fine, somehow with so many HUGE trees tossed all around, couldn't get out of the driveway..we are lucky to have a generator, our power still out. I'm mourning the civil war oak we had out back, it was a magnificent tree, all gone.

I agree that more extreme weather is everywhere. We had a tornado within a mile of our home in NJ it changed direction last minute and just missed us. Stay safe!

Yes, my dear here in Arkansas we get the tornadoes! In 1982 I lost half of the roof of my house. Before that time I had never been afraid since then I am always Weather aware. That being said we can’t let our fear take over. I feel for you in Oklahoma. I often notice some of the weather coming our way from your state. We have had rain, hail, hot and cold. This spring has been possibly the worst spring ever for trying to get a garden to grow. I don’t like to complainbecause it’s not positive. Still I hope you have a wonderful rest of the summer staying safe.

Hi Linda. Im in Harrison Twp MI, 20 miles NE of Detroit. We got hit last night with very bad inline winds from tornados in SW Michigan. Part of back tree came down. Neighbors tree fell across the road, we couldnt get through. No power about 16 hours. Now all is well. Power on. We just have to hire someone to cut up our back tree. Strangest weather this year. YOUR GARDEN IS INCREDIBLE. I enjoy your station and have really learned a lot from you. Following since your last home. Take care and thank you for sharing!

30 miles north of Minneapolis,we have been very lucky last four or more years of no bad storms. Green and every thing is budding out very quickly. All flowering crab trees in full bloom. Today’s temp.was 74 degrees and sunny. Lilacs ready to bloom shortly.
Severe weather is awful and we have had our share in NE. Prayers that you don’t get tornadoes!

Pesticides kill and end up in our watersheds.
On the backside of my climbing rose,I discovered a vine growing,that was never planted. Birds,squirrels,maybe responsible. I nurtured,and had 9 of the little squashed pumpkins near earl Fall. I was so excited to see them mature,and used them in my Fall decor.🥰

Last night we had tornado watches in Northern Indiana and 3 tornadoes touched down in south west Michigan, which is not far from us, about 30 minutes. Sorry for all those people that have had tornadoes destroy their homes and towns 😞
From a former Kansan now living in Kentucky, I've also thought that Tornado Alley has expanded! Several years ago, I felt a tornado hit the ground in the field next to me. It leveled a neighbor's house and continued on. We are now under a tornado watch. Those have been happening often.

I occurred to me that the bottom portion of the cloche could be used to support peonies. I think I will get some of these!

The southeast has always been a tornado alley as well. I've lived in Alabama my whole life and tornadoes have always been a part of life for us, unfortunately.

When I was a child in the sixties, my mother, a dentist, was working in the health department in downtown Raleigh, NC and a tornado tore the side of the building off. She was fine. Another big one was in 1988. Been quite a few over the years. We won’t talk about hurricanes!

Wishing you good luck in trying to get your tulip bulbs to rebloom next year. My old bulbs are doing it for 30 years . I live in northern Germany. Love your videos and hope that no tornadoes will hit your area.
I grew up in Florida, dealing with tornadoes, tropical storms, hurricanes, daily summer thunderstorms, you name it. Now happily gardening in Western Washington State where we are sooooo very lucky weather wise. All we really deal with is a long, grey & rainy winter with the occasional short spring hail storm, and (increasingly) wildfire smoke in mid-late summer. Definitely don't miss dealing with the catastrophic weather! Hope your beautiful garden fares well in the storms.

Yes, Iowa is always a concern to tornadoes, high winds and hail. We’ve had our share of damage.

Yes we gave had a tornado in Savannah. It touched down in our back yard. Some damage, tree down and a fence. Terrifying.

Planted my globe master alliums with morning light maiden grass to hide the allium leaves, the maiden grass is slow to fill out and the alliums look like they are popping out of that beautiful silver, shimmering grass that blows naturally with the spring wind.

I have my husband (an avid golfer) cut the heads off his old golf clubs and use them as hose guards. They work great at keeping the hose from sweeping through my flowers.

In central Illinois we always have the threat of tornadoes .
In grade school we always had tornado drills. Nothing new here. Yes, we had an F4 before. Its a part of our Spring weather, being aware of tornadoes.

I’m on the central coast of California and for the first time we had a small tornado go through our area. I only had mild shingle damage but southwest from me trees were uplifted and houses were damaged. Nothing like what the rest of the country has gone through. But in my 80 years in California. This was a first. Stay safe.

Our tornado watches/warnings in Michigan were Tuesday this week. Much damage in certain areas. Our meteorologists did an excellent job with warnings. So grateful no fatalities. Lake Michigan (the "big lake") protects us a lot in west Michigan.
I agree about the hydrangeas! I have 2 “old type” ones that have had the flowers frozen off for the past two years 😢. I got them at Lowe’s probably 10 years ago as small clearance plants. I’ve got plans to replace them soon!

Southwest Missouri here, just lost 80% of our trees to an EF1 ...huge old growth, even civil war oaks, maples, sweet gum...beautiful mature trees all gone. We are luckily no injuries and our house is fine....but losing those trees is hard. I cried. Now we are in a fish bowl with no privacy....we have 3 acres. Looks like time for new plantings and new landscape design. Not how i would have wanted to do it but ill enjoy the challenge

We are living in Northern Alabama after hubby retired from The US Army. So yes we’ve had Tornadoes within a few miles of this house. We also dealt with them while stationed in Texas and Kansas. Selling feature of our new home besides the garden space was the walk out basement with the built in Storm shelter.
Glad we don’t have many tornadoes up here in Canada where we are! So scary! Stay safe!❤

Good job gal nice cottage garden. I have a lot of tall grass growing in my huge garden need to get in there and make sure get the roots otherwise will come back. Loads of periwinkle in front grass’s growing in between everywhere big job lol
Just wanted to compliment your beautiful garden and ask for forgiveness even if you don’t know why. 😂🤭 When you’ve talked about your salvia I’ve rolled my eyes every time because I have WEST Friesland salvia in several places in my garden.
Today I googled it and learned there are two separate salvias and not a wrong saying. Sorry Linda! ❤😅

Your garden is beautiful. I live in the northern part of Alabama close to Huntsville, known as the Tennessee Valley. We are surrounded by mountains (large hills really) and on Wednesday night into Thursday morning we had five tornadoes touch down in our area. Scary to say the least but we had no damage where I live. Lots of downed trees in Huntsville itself.
Zone 8a Raleigh NC has seen an uptick in severe weather which is of course concerning! I’m struggling with the boxwood basil. I’m going to try direct seeding! Thanks
I have had house damage from a tornado 7 miles away. We often have tornados in our area. Richmond is in a valley so we usually don't have them however our Mall had a lot of destruction about 4 years ago.

I live in a small town near New Orleans La. We've had tornadoes hit the last two years. First time ever having a tornado hit here. Definitely scary. At least for hurricanes we can evacuate before they hit. It's very windy here today too.
We had a e41. In Ohio two years ago that took out trees in the backyard. So terrified we will get that again

Maybe plant the alliums under your hydrangeas. That way it hides the foliage. Yes, our town has been completely destroyed by tornadoes twice in my lifetime.so a little nervous tonight watching the weather!

Smack dab in the middle of the Texas Panhandle and our house was hit in 2021 and heavily damaged. Also in 1999 but not nearly as bad.
I grew up in Georgia (I am 59) and we had tornados. My parents house was hit by one in 2009. I live in Richmond Va now and we get tornados. Definitely not unique to OK. Prayers for all in the bad weather area tomorrow.
My husband grew up in Michigan and they had tornadoes there too. A neighbor lost their roof. Don’t think the area has expanded but not sure.
🤓🤓🤓I can't believe your garden has grown sooooooo fast. I grew up in mid-Indiana and yes we were always in tornado alley but never the 18 years I lived there did we get hit. My dad from Kansas took us to the basement each time they said storm and we slept on our 1800s pool table all night. OW. My sis is in Bloomington and in danger again today, but tornado alley has moved south to where TN gets hit a LOT more now. Roly Polys take out heavy metals from the soil. How can you have azaleas in the sun? Mine in SoCal would not make it.
