Haha, well, I am happy that he recorded those memories with the camcorder because the videos looked cool, giving a vintage vibe.
This camera definitely seems popular. My boss gave me this camera and I made a video on it just because I had it. And it seems to be one of my more popular videos on my channel haha. I don’t see why so many people are interested in.
My grandma just gave me this one, and another analog camera nikon lite touch zoom 70ws I’m impressed both of them still worked, minus the battery and the film The battery from the jvc kinda expensive too, but yeaa i’ll save some money for it It’s really worth a shot. Peace from indonesia 🇮🇩
I recently bought this exact camera second hand! Was wondering if you could do a separate video about the setting it up via the camera settings? For some reason mine records to my SD in a weird format that is not mov, or mp4 making it difficult for me to edit the footage I take :(

As long as its widescreen its fine, i even used it as my only camera for a few months because all the others broke (even right now i use it as my main while i fix my sony) it gets a little rough waiting for the program to finish deinterlacing but thats the only con i have with this camera! Just make sure to film in normal mode. It would definetly work for you, and no its not too old school and dont let any dslr nerd tell you otherwise. The ccd sensor it uses adds life to your image if you use the “cloud” white balance. I know manual mode sounds scary at first but trust me it pays off, as the footage with the right settings looks really nice. (I can even make a tutorial on how to get good video from the jvc) If you need more tips dont be scared to ask!
Did you do any special deinterlacing/decombing on the clips from the camera? Or if not, what program did you use to edit this? The motion is much smoother than I'm getting out of my GZ-MG130u.
If you record hd, then the footage is interlaced (60i to be exact) and you CAN actually convert the video to 60fps. If you are looking to try it then click on my video explaining how
Yeah I just used the sd card and put the clips on my computer. You could try recording to hdd and transfer the clips by USB. I’m not sure modern computers will recognize it though
Any idea how this one differs from the MG430? Cant find much info on the MG430 but was curious if you think if the image would be similar? Looking to replicate the look of the 330
The resolution is what it is, but the image quality is realy impresive. I bought a Sony miniDVD camcorder, because it could record from the source (i.e. VHS), it has similar resolution, but colors are faded so much, that everything looks gray and sad. I don't understand, why cameras from that era and before, had so bad color rendition.
Yeah for the pd170 I’m selling the shipping I a little more since it’s a heavier box due to all the accessories it comes with. But I can alway drop the price a little for you if you are wanting it or the canon Optura.
Hey! So my parents bought this camera back in 07 and theres tons of footage in it and when i plugged into my macbook i was able to locate everything but they are all formatted as MOI. or MOD. Are you aware of any apps available for mac that can open these files up so I can transfer them to my hardive? Please let me know.

That’s strange I was able to just fit the sd card right into my computer and I had access to the footage. Not sure why you have to convert the footage to mp4. Maybe go into the camcorder settings and see if you can change the format

Yeah this on would work well for you. Sony makes a lot of these cameras as well and I would feel that they have a more early 2000s look to them. Check out the Sony DCR-SR42. I really like the footage that comes from it

I found my old jvc gm20u. Its a 2004. Its got a svideo output in the side. Would it be better to use the clearclick fot better video quality of just use the hard disk/sd

Yeah as long as you’re not spending a fortune on it. You can always use your smart phone as well if you are just starting out, but that’s not as fun right? Haha
i got this camera second hand in really good condition but for some reason i cant get it to record it has a sd card but wont record (the whole sd card has nothing on it) it would mean alot if u uploaded a short or a video on how to get it to work thanks!!:)
Unfortunately I sold this camera shortly after making this video. But I could be that your sd card is too high of a gigabyte for the camcorder to recognize it. Maybe try a 32gb or lower and see if it will recognize it
My mom gave me the camera cause she wasn’t using it anymore and knew I that really wanted one. The thing is, I have no idea how to charge it.. it worked for a while but the battery life was awful I could only use it for about 10 minutes before it completely run out of battery. Then it stopped charging at all. Should I change the battery? Buy a new charger? How do I even charge it? With a cable or do I always have to charge the battery itself.. I have no idea please someone help 😭😭
In the description of the video I should have some links to batteries and chargers. I would get both just to make sure you have brand new working battery and charger.
I know there are some websites out there where you can convert the footage to different files. I’m not sure what iPhone is compatible with, I assume MP4 would work. You’ll have to look around and see what websites can do that for free.

If your screen doesn’t turn on but the cameras is on there is damage to the screen. Most likely a ribbon cable on the inside has either disconnected or has torn. That’s my guess
It’s might just because of the service fee most likely. But if it is just a ribbon cable those should only be a few dollars but finding a replacement one is the hard part. A lot of people will just find the same camera but broken on eBay as a parts camera to fix the one you have if that makes sense.

I don’t have the camera anymore. But you should be able to find the manual online
You should be able to change the file extension from MOD to MPG, try that and see if your editing program recognizes it
Mod to mov using cloudconvert or just dragging the video clips into you editing program or handbrake

Yeah the canon m50 was set to face auto detection so you have to hide your face to get it to focus on something else haha

I have used winx video converter to convert files to mp4. It’s pretty simple and I think you can do a free trial as well

I would say the 230 is a previous model and it’s probably a little older that the 330. So the footage will most likely be better on the 330

Do you know with the adapter I use to connect the separate hd to the notebook to save the videos? The camera spoils, but the hd is whole.
You should just have to use a usb cable. Or use a SD card in the camera and you should be able to take it and put it in your computer

You should be able to connect your camera to your laptop or record footage to the sd card and transfer your files that way
