it doesn't work, unless the other players have the mod as well. i think they'd crash, or at least have desync so severe the game would be unplayable, unfortunately
I'm so glad you made a video on this wonderful modding system that's infinitely times easier and more convenient than what we have in the base game. I've spent so much time trying to sort out my mods to stay under the 50 mod limit, and it was especially annoying having to reinstall ALL my mods due to the game crashing for whatever reason. Every dwarf should know about Mod Integration so they don't have to suffer through "checking for dependencies" for the 100th time!
this "mod integration" thing is stupid non-obvious and overcomplicated. don't ever allow engineers develop UI. EVER. just go took some lessons from other games, like Oxygen Not Included. two buttons clicked - and you have the mod working. jeesus, why does it need to be like this?
A deprecated sandbox "mod" called "mods_P" keeps showing up and deleting it does delete it, but whenever installing mods it appears again. got any clue how to solve this? I think this has nothing to do with any of the mods I have installed, as I've been using MINT for a month and this has only just started to happen. Another thing to note is that whenever I press "install mods" a antivirus warning comes up saying that there's a Trojan Horse, might be related, but I actually just have no idea. again, this did not happen 1 month ago.
I've switched to mint like ~2 months ago and could never go back to the official mod support again. It feels so good to be able to go over the arbitrary 50 mod limit of gsg's mod support with assembly's mint, with no problems whatsoever :) thank you assembly
Thanks for the video! Very informative; I'm definitely switching over. A _huge_ shout-out to the developer; selfless creators of free and open source software carry the modern world on their backs.
If I use MINT with gameplay altering mods and want friends that don't use MINT to join me and use the same gameplay altering mods, does that work? Or is MINT with gameplay altering mods incompatible with non MINT users?
You forgot to mention that 1/50 or so random joiners will be amazing "entertainment" as they rage that your lobby is labeled unmodded even though your title has [modded] and you have MotD running detailing whatever custom haz you're running! They're very easily baited into further screenshotable content if you type "yes i'm an evil cheater hahahaha"
Currently the tool goes wacky and behaves weird if a mod ends up getting deleted by the author, to fix it try to go to the game directory > FSD > Content > Paks and delete the file that ends with _P If that didn't fix it, try to create a new profile in MINT and hope things work now, until MINT gets updated probably
Thanks for the great tutorial! Today I switched to Mint because I got fed up with reseting my mods everytime. Works super smoothly and its much easier to add new mods.
thanks for making a video on this! i've been meaning to try out mint since i vaguely heard about it some time ago, but i got lazy and did some other stuff instead.
Nvm I fixed it, had to paste each link individually instead of using the list of links from assembly for some reason. Prob won't use this until the [Modded] tag on host gets removed though, since I primarily host.
The video is somewhat unclear. So do I need to disable/unisntall all modes on normal mod integration after transfering those to mint? Do I need to have mint closed after launching drg? And can I still join to other lobbys without issues? In the video it is said that you can as long as you don't have gameplay affecting mod. But is custom difficulty such mod? I would appreciate a response because I'm really looking into downloading mint and making it a part of my drg experience. Thank you.
You don't need to disable anything, you don't need to close Mint (though you need to have DRG closed while installing mods), and custom difficulty does count as such a mod, but the desync it causes is very minor. If you're hosting with it, people joining you who aren't running Mint won't be able to see the custom nitra costs and they won't be able to call resupplies unless there's 80 nitra in the bank, though when they call one it'll cost the altered amount.
Yeah! You can load your own .paks or other mods that aren't on mod.io, for example, and can have more than 50 mods at a time. Don't know what you consider stability, but Mint also gives you better performance and doesn't download mods without your consent whenever you join another lobby.
