I was a foreign student in MSU 1980-1982. Looks like Starkville downtown has not changed much. I rented a 2 bedroom apartment above a clothing store on Main Street . On the same block at end of street was the apartment building which I found out has been converted into a nice hotel called Chester Hotel. Your video reminds me of my student days. Thanks!. I am now in my late 60s. Hope to visit MSU and downtown Starkville again after 42 years!
This is a very nice video. I like how you show the view from the left driver side window. I enjoy all your videos. I like being able to see what cities I never been to look like. Starkville seems to be a very clean and well-kept little town.
Today marks the 30th anniversary of my journey from Malaysia to Columbus airport, where I began my degree program at Mississippi State University in Starkville, located halfway across the globe. Fondly reminiscing about the charming town that I miss so dearly...
Nice tour 601 Travels! Used to visit there in the late 70's- early 80's. My father had a pharmacy not far from MSU. You also did Meridian where I lived for 9 yrs where he also had a pharmacy. Brings back good memories. Thanks! Be safe.
Starkville Mississippi is my home stomping grounds also Even tho I was born in Artesia a tiny tiny town...Starkville is really growing fast, very nice town...going to visit, west point, Columbus, Artesia, Artesia is a few miles from Mississippi state....I have relatives in Starkville....I got married to Army man, moved to Fort Riley Kansas,I misses my Mississippi...Kansas is nothing to compare to beautiful Mississippi.....Great job ur doing, loves ur videos...🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
I'm enjoying to see Strakville down. It was in september 1975 I Saw Stark for the last time. I studied at MSU where I got Master Degree in Seed Tecnólogy. I which l could go to visit my lovely little Town and My MSU...
Hoping to go to msu, but also hoping not to be in a dorm each week with nothing to do. Looks like a cool town and even though it seems to be in a smaller town, tupelo, tuscaloosa, and maybe even Birmingham are just about a 1 to 3 hr drive. Seems like starkeville is about the same distance from all of the closest major cities
Starkville is one of the cooler cities in Mississippi.. compared to 90% of the others, there is a LOT to do there for college age people. Like you said, it's not far from Tupelo and other cities like Birmingham or even Nashville (which is awesome). If you get a chance to visit beforehand I'd definitely check it out. Best of luck to you!
Yeah! Starkville is a cool little college town.. Had a lot more than I remember since the last time I was there (went to Ricks Cafe to see Crossin' Dixon).. Thanks for watching :)
Starkville is a beautiful City...I grew up right outside of starkville..loves to visit ..Now living in Kansas...can say Starkville is hot, high crime, but a beautiful city, nice people...🖐🏽🖐🏽🖐🏽🖐🏽🖐🏽🎖🎖🎖👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Hey Kevin! I did go down and do a drive around Louisville. I thought I remembered you saying your mother grew up there. It is scheduled to go live on the channel - it is such a nice little town, I had a lot of fun seeing it for the first time.
Hey 601 TRAVELS, My grandparents also lived there (both of them currently deceased) but they lived in Louisville and my Aunt and Uncle and Cousins lived in Louisville too... After the death of my grandfather, my grandmother then moved to Ackerman.. She had been an employee at Piggly Wiggly in Ackerman for years and also worked in a clock factory... As for now, my Aunt, Uncle and Cousins live in Troutdale,Oregon and/or Dallas,TX.. I also have relatives that live in Minnesota... Look up my cousin Drew Eubanks on Wikipedia.. He is a professional basketball player for San Antonio Spurs and also played basketball for Oregon State University... He is 6 feet 10 inches tall.. By the way, the house that my mother grew up in was a house built in 1904.. The last time I saw the house was 2012 and the house is basically unlivable now... Roof fell in and grass and bushes grew up all around the house... You'd have to tear down the house and start over again... I always loved going there as a child...
Hey 601 TRAVELS, My mother grew up in the part of Louisville called High Point... The house that she lived in was way out in the country, about 8 miles from downtown... It was located just over the railroad tracks
I lived in Starkville for three years. I had no idea there was more to it than MSU, Krogers(at the time), Dollar General, and the Hallmark store. I never ventured far from campus. 😂
Good grief, it looks like a scene from an episode of The Twilight Zone. The main drag in town has virtually no pedestrians. Plenty of parked cars but no people. Pretty eerie.
It's sad how many down towns look like this. Just be glad there's a downtown at all, many cities have almost nothing there anymore. People moved to the suburbs, and that's where they shop.
Nice views of the jail and police cars! I guess it's that, or the churches, Starkville sure don't look like the Ms Gulf Coast! There must have been 20 cop cars in that video, hard to tell, as you doubled back there at the end.
Nice tidy it is, I just dont like the crime in starkville, Columbus....you know crime is BEEFING up all over the country now...Even here in Kansas, some of the small towns are infested with crime, more drugs coming in, people needs more money 4 habits, so more crimes....I grew up outside of Starkville, has relatives, Starkville, Artesia, Macon, Columbus, westpoint Crawford area...Still loves to shop there.
black berry sorry to hear that. Drugs create the chaos the governments need for them to keep control of us, if more people woke up rather than turn to drugs to escape life, we could unite and stop this madness, ✌️💪💖 to you and your family 👍

It is!!
How do we get to see shops?
Nice video! It would have been nice to include the cotton district and highway 12. There are lots of things on highway 12.
Thanks for watching. Lots of cool places up there! I’m sure I missed a lot more.
@@601TRAVELS Maybe next time :D
I believe there is a guy called Charlie who lives there, and he has a question or two about professional wrestling.
Corny got the answers.

Yeah! I like this vídeo style! I'm live in Brazil. Congrats!
Hey 601 TRAVELS, Can you do downtown Louisville,MS? (My mother's hometown?)

How far of a drive/walk is it from the main campus? Great video btw😄
I’m honestly not sure! Thanks for watching 🙏🏻

Haha. Well next time you are around, drive through town 😂😂
Very nice :)
Thank you so much :)
Is there a post office?
Yes there was.
I went to starkville high school for only 2 months in 1991, all i can recall is sack and save supermarket lol
The jewel of Starkville lol
I went to SHS too around that time. I was class of 92. Started there as a Junior, but went back to my country at the beginning of my Senior Year.
❤️❤️.
Starkville kinda looks like Oxford did in the 1960's, however I will have to admit Little Dooey's is a great place to eat !
Bite your tongue. Dont EVER compare us to them

I was whistling, picking flowers and they threw me in the city jail. Cops didn't even take my name.

Thank you for watching, Princess!! Nice to see you here :)
601 TRAVELS I enjoy your videos
I live here and I can say, it’s hot, there’s not a lot to do, but it’s _home_
Thanks for watching and commenting. I felt a cool vibe when I was there. I hope you made out ok during that tornado outbreak last week!
601 TRAVELS It was scary, but i’m lucky for not dying!
It was scary down here around Hattiesburg, too, but I am glad you didn't die!

I saw my house 😮😮😮
Starkville!
Thought I was going to see People “starkers” running down the street!😱
It looks like Another nice clean tidy town though👍
