Tia Clayton The Next Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce Defeats Shericka Jackson || Jamaica Olympic Trials 2024
When the legendary Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce announced that she’ll be retiring from active athletics after the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, the track community was taken aback. Renowned as the GOAT of track and field, and having contributed a lot over the women’s 100 meters to become the second fastest woman alive, it almost appeared like there would be no one to fit in her shoes.
But then Jamaica’s rising star Tia Clayton is positioning herself as the next Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, and she is not taking anything for granted. It seems she is aware of the developments and she is not afraid to stand tall as the next breakout athlete over the women’s 100 meters. And we can’t doubt that! Under the able training of Coach Francis at MVP, anything is possible. Of course, much of what Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce has achieved on the track is because of the immense guidance she received from Coach Francis for the long period she has been at MVP. And so, there is no doubt Coach Francis has a plan to have someone at hand to replace Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce even as she gears up for her retirement later this year. And who is better suited to replace Fraser-Pryce other than the sprint sensation Tia Clayton?

Tia and Tina Clayton caught my attention three or four years ago, when they we're in the under 17 high school races. From then I said those girls are bound for greatness, some day they will be amongst the Jamaicans best at the Olympics. 🙏🏽 ❤

In my opinion it’s way too early to put that ShellyAnn title on anyone person, it’s going to be a big battle in the coming years with these young ladies waiting to unlash their massive speed on the track..
Then you have some promising 16 and 17 year old girls still in high schools running 11.13 in the 100M and 22.56 in the 200M these numbers are mind boggling numbers for high schoolers..

I fully agree. My belief is that one of the Clayton twins is on her way someday soon who is going to break Flo Jo's world record. Tia clocking 10.84 in the recently concluded Jamaican Nationals semi finals, eclipsing not only Shelly Ann but even Shericka, is a sign of the shape of things to come for her future!

There is no replacement for Shelly; people don’t understand that it’s not just what you do that makes you the best, but also when you do it and how you did it. Faster athletes will always come eventually, but the fact that the potential direct next-in-line predecessor still had her around in the same era to mimic the blueprint of her displays just how great Shelly is…😏
