Thanks for the detailed side by side. I think I’ll get the HCG given I have more fields and outdoor use in my area. And I’ll probably get the fiesta shell for pure rally fun

Shocks can be adjusted by using the plastic spacers for the spring and they do work very well
Would it effect it if I take out the front spacers and leave the back in?
Good comparison brother. I actually prefer the adjustable shocks with the plastic spasers because i can evenly adjust all shocks the same by just adding 4 little plastic spacers without eye balling the shocks threads every time or mesure them just to see if they have the same preload on each side. I would definitely go with the ultimate version even for bashing just for the extras, the durability the better handling and value for money. Because buing all this extras seperetly will cost even more and spend more precious time to install. Thanks for the video and info! Nice jeep too! ;)
Thanks man! Yeah I agree for the extra cost it’s worth getting the Ultimate version. Having the aluminum rear hub carriers, front knuckles and c hubs is probably the biggest benefit. The sway bars are nice as well. Also the battery strap is much easier since you don’t have to bother with a body clip like on the 4x4 VXL model. On top of that you get telemetry too. So it’s definitely not a bad deal for the extra money
Very good video comparison. I just picked up an older(?) VXL LCG 4x4 Mike Jenkin's edition and currently rebuilding it. It does not have the big bore shocks or blue aluminum upgrades but has the same brushless/ESC set-up, TSM and the Traxxas on-board sound module. I don't think Traxxas designed the driveshaft route on either of these trucks very well since they are both exposed to outside debris and therefore prone to binding and premature wear. I purchased a dust/debris cover for mine and I'm also considering a drive shaft cover to prevent that. I think that the LCG truck is better overall particularly for racing which is its intended use. For those who want a 4x4 SCT simply for bashing there are less expensive options from other manufacturers.
Yeah I’d have to agree. The Slash 4x4 Ultimate is better than the HCG chassis Slash but I still think it’s not up to par with some of the true purpose designed short course race trucks. I’ve raced people with Tekno and I have a Losi SCTE…they just seem built for the track….I wish you the best with your rebuild!

What ever Slash you go with the LCG chassis is a must to really enjoy it. Its worth every penny and then some. I started with the HCG Slash VXL and it spent more time on its roof than it did on its wheels lol. Nothing more annoying than having to walk 100 yards just to flip it back over.
That’s true..the HCG is gonna tip quite often compared to the LCG chassis

@@RCKnockout I was looking at the slash ultimate, heard the upgrades on it alone make it well worth it. I also have a Maxx v2 and Xmaxx 8s, it's like crack, lol!

That must be on the newest version of the Ultimate then? Because my Ultimate still has the 2075 plastic gear Servo
Shock clips. I am surprised the ultimate doesn't have aluminum shock shock caps. The aftermarket big bores from traxxas have the AL caps. But I'm it's not bashed hard I'm sure plastic is good enough. Sway bars are a nice upgrade for sure, huge difference in handling.
it has alum caps. they are gtr shocks... theyre just black
Cool, i had an issue getting the grub pin screws out of the axels next ro the difiential. I stripped all 4 of them because I ran some garbage metal drive shafts so getting thos off I kinda messed up the metal nubs tha come our of the difs on both front and back so I need to order a couple to fix my vxl. In the mean time I purchased a slash ultimate. I think I'm going to like how it handles better. I constantly rolled my vxl.

Hi, awesome video thanks for the comparison. I have a few questions, I used to own a slash 4x4 vxl with the hcg but it kept flipping over all the time so I ended up selling it. Now that I have came back to the hobby, I was wonderimg if it was worth it to buy the ultimate. How does it perform in grass and off road with the lcg? And also does the truck ever flip over? Thanks a lot!
You can still flip the Ultimate. Personally I would stick with the HCG Slash 4x4 unless you want the Big Bore Shocks, Aluminum upgrades and sway bars? If you want to get into racing, the Ultimate would be worth it but for bashing I think they 4x4 VXL model is pretty good

@@samdorais4160 I wouldn’t say often but It does occasionally. The main disadvantage is that the battery will drain a bit faster…also I’ve gotten high centered in spots with my Ultimate that I wouldn’t have with my hcg 4x4

I thought your video was a little confusing. You started with the ultimate on the left then you switched it up then started talking about the regular slash but kept referring to it as the ultimate when talking about the higher center of gravity. Also you talked about comparing them side by side but both have different mods so we can’t really compare the differences
And a very nice video I have a rustler vxl 2wd that's kind of upgrades and I should be getting a cheap hbx rampage as well and I will upgrade it

@RC Knockout not even with the adjustable shocks, huh? Nothing you can do to bump the chassis up higher??
@@troy22nd The shock spacers technically don't preload the springs. They move the center resting point of the suspension. Larger the spacer, the more you raise the car. But the more you move the car up, extending the shocks, the less you'll have for rebound.
with the suspension difference, couldn't you just raise the suspension on the ultimate? (haven't finished the video yet, so not sure if you go over that)
Dylan Vlogs no that wouldn’t be able to compensate for the difference between the hcg chassis compared with the lcg chassis. You would never be able to raise a lcg chassis to be the same height as the hcg chassis

If you have the money the 4wd is the way to go without a doubt.
