HometoBilo Sydney Vigil June 2021

June 2021: When 3 year old Tharnicaa from Biloela was medically evacuated to Perth with Mum Priya after being hospitalised on Christmas Island with a suspected blood infection (sepsis), many concerned citizens felt the need to do something urgently.
In conjunction with Mums4Refugees, RAC, Grandmothers For Refugees and the HometoBilo group, Reclaim the News co-hosted the Sydney Vigil for Tharni on 10th June.
This video is footage of Reclaim the News Founder Judith reading out a letter from Simone Cameron, a member of the official HometoBilo group. Simone was unable to attend the Sydney vigil. Her words beautifully convey the love the Biloela family have for Priya, Nades, Kopika and Tharni. She also explains how much the small town of Bilo has changed for the better because of the Murugappan family and other migrant families. We could all learn from this statement.
