It’s hilarious how all the guests brag about being “notorious over-tipper”, like anyone would actually admit on TV that they are actually cheap 😂😂😂
These guests are in an income bracket far above most of us, so they can afford to be generous.
you snatched words out of my mouth. Every single guest and host I saw on the TV debate claim they are over or generous tippers.
They are exactly doing the same thing which they are discussing to be wrong. Giving the viewers who are watching a guilt complex about rational tip behavior.
Business owners should be paying not the customer.
We don’t have a tipping culture in Australia. We tip only for really exceptional service. The staff here get paid a better rate. Tipping drove us insane when we visited the U.S.
Restaurants expect tips when I pick up my order, no... just no.
With the advent of electronic payments, it has gotten out of control.
Just visited Scotland this summer and it was so nice and refreshing not to have this tip obsession and madness everywhere.
Well they pay a fair wage.

My son works in retail (not a restaurant ) at minimum wage. He has to deal with extremely rude customers at times. But he does his job. He doesn't get tips for doing his job. So now that wait staff receive minimum wage tips should be optional. Tip for exceptional service.
I watch Videos of delivery drivers in the US that argue with customers and take food back from low tips. I was thinking, maybe that's the best the customers can do afterthe fees. Also I saw where food to be delivered stacked up and wasn't delivered due to low tipping. That food was later thrown out. I too, felt the companies need to compensate drivers better.
If a buy a $100 bottle of wine at a restaurant, I have to pay the server $15 - $30 "bare minimum" for bringing the bottle to me. Absolutely ridiculous.
I think Americans forget that Europeans pay a bit more in taxes because they get so much more than Americans do for so much less. So there is no need to tip. Workers in EU have basic human rights and that includes a living wage, health care, universal education, and much lower college tuition. Americans have be trained to protect the wealthy .
The servers standing and hovering over you while you tip is RIDICULOUS!

I tip waiters really well when I receive good/exceptional service. Mediocre/bad service no tip. That’s it. SA.
I tip for good service only. I don't like the pressure to tip coming from the cash register screen. Employers should pay a better wage.
Simple, include all taxes, fees and tips on the final displayed prices$ like in Europe and Asia 👍. Tipflation calculated on after- tax bill, screw that. STICKER SHOCK 🤯💰💰💥 👎
Can not agree more. President Biden requires yearly $600 income taxable. How many grandmas in USA working for that taxable a few hundred dollars income? Why should they get tax-free cash? It's a robbery.
I have empathy for restaurant staff getting less wages but lets be fair here..why the hell customers need to tip unwillilngly, i am paying for the food i bought and you are receiving pay for the service you give from your employer...Now if you are getting less wage and not able to pay your bills, how is that my problem or concern??? I am earning every single penny with my blood and sweat so i can pay my own bills and eat from restaurant whenever i want and its upto me whether i wanna tip or not..Paying tips just adds extra burden on my monthly budget...Now u cannot tell me not to eat from restaurant if u cant afford. I can afford food at restaurant but not extra tips on it and who are u to tell me what to do with my hardwork earned money or not. You either need to talk to your employer to pay u decent wage or simply quit and work somewhere else. Relying on customers to tip you is so unfair to the customers like excuse me am not your mommy or daddy to pay for your bills.

I’m 57 yo and I remember the standard was 10 % but it’s gotten out of hand. It starts at about 15 % of that even INFLATED PRICE . We gotta get Trump in there. If anyone can get stop US from this economic downward spiral it’s him.
The problem is that more places are implementing required service charges that might not even go to the servers, so ontop of that you're still expected to tip anywhere from 18-30%, prices have gone up, quality has declined... so these things no longer feel like an enjoyable treat, but a deal that makes you feel icky at times. If things keep going down this trajectory with inflation becoming increasingly out of control, only the rich will be able to dine out and "overtip." This is a broken system, and I feel for the servers but also for the average person. You shouldn't have to be rich to enjoy certain pleasures.
Everybody talks about the tip culture with the ipads being so awkward because people watch you so you feel guilt. Lets talk about the real problem. I decide not to tip my barista whose being rude when im trying to be friendly and now she turns around and spits in my drink cause everyone with those damn Ipad tip services feels ENTITLED to a tip.
Restaurants in the US are already struggling/closing because working for tips, that diners don’t feel obligated to give, is not cutting it in this economy and servers are leaving in droves.
The guy in black t-shirt is too much. Like he gives even more when he sees people in the group haven't tipped enough.

unless the cook gets tip why does a server base a percentage rather than effort and excellence? does a rude server who brought caviar champagne get more or a polite courteous server who served a buffet or breakfast meal deal?

i left a tip in guatemala and they person i gave it to chased me down to return it. and they make a whole lot less than anyone here does

Only in Italy its the non tipping law. We tip in Gr, overtip the places we prefer & small tip the everyday places (cafes)

These workers should be receiving appropriate wages from their employers, so that tips would be given rarely, and only for exceptional service. Just in recent years the standard tip has grown from 10% to 20%. And more.
