    AJ, I think your review of the Mizuno irons are spot on. Keep up the good work. Cheers.

    I gamed the 921 Forged from late 2020 until early 2024. Went with the 923 Forged afterwards, and I absolutely love them. I’m around a 12 handicap but I hit these clubs well. They also feel incredible despite the different materials and micro slots in the longer irons. The slotted longer irons are a bit faster or springier off the face but still feel excellent.

    Thanks for the comparisons and the straightforward 'if you're X, you should be considering these' approach.

    Still hitting my MP-18's .. Love em. I have 2 sets of MP-32's that just sit, but may pull 1 of em back out this year after re-gripping. Thanks for the bike pump regrip vid!

    Thanks for the video. You talk about the pros and cons of blending the JPX923 Forged with other models, but the 923 Forged is already effectively a blended set, with 4-7 being in 4120 Chromoly and 8-G in 1025E mild carbon steel. Have you tried the 8-iron or above?

    I ordered a 923 Tour 8 iron with a DG105 shaft for testing. Nice looking iron!
    Overall I thinks it’s a good iron. Comparing it to other iterations like the 33,66,69, Jpx919 tours, I don’t see the copper “feel thing”. The older versions above are definitively wonderful feeling irons.
    I finally switched over to Miuras’ and pretty sure I won’t be back with Mizuno until they actually manufacture something like a CB iron like the MP 64.
    They certainly cater to the “how far do you hit your 7 iron group with what?, how many hot metal distance irons now??
    Just sayin’

    I currently game the 919 Tours but have had a tendency to miss out of the toe of late (8.7 index). Having lessons to try and get a bit more consistency of strike but would you say there's much difference between the 923 Tours and 919's forgiveness wise? Or do I just need to suck it up and go for the more forgiving 923 Forged? 😂

      I would say the 923 Tour is not very forgiving. The cavity is very very thin. I might lean towards the Forged or the new 245 hollow body. Big fan of those, at least in the 225 version as I'm waiting on my new model fitting clubs.

    Terrific review and spot on, AJ. I think the bigger questions is, who aren't these irons for? Anyone who owns models in the last two years does not need the newer Mizunos...at all. The past two years are simply reiterations of past iron models that have ZERO measured changes, other than LOFT. So if you *think* you need new Mizuno irons, you don't. Bring your current Mizunos to a reputable club fitter, like AJ, and have your lofts bent. And there you go, you now have new Mizunos. Seriously, save your money until something truly revolutionary is produced. In the meantime, spend some money on lessons if you're looking to improve your game.

      I'd argue that this may not necessarily be true for someone with a previous jpx tour, looking at the 923, since the 923T is actually the same form factor as the blade, and has the copper underlay which is new to the jpx line. Apart form that, and especially with the blades (having played MP-20s and 221s which sadly got stolen- which is why I'm now playing 923Ts,) I agree

    Did you hit the same shaft in all of them. I’m seeing the forged with a DG105 stiff the tour with a DG120 stiff and the 223 with a moddus 115 stiff. Any thoughts

    Do you feel the 923 forged would blend well as a longer iron option with the 225? Only reason I ask is I have the 225’s and feel the distance gapping could be a bit more consistent after the 7 iron through the 4 iron

    • @EFG2

      Not sure how different they would be. Have not had any complaints with the 225 control.

      Yes I used some for a video series I did with Mr Shortgame. They are solid for the money and the new models look really good though I haven’t tried them.

    • @EFG2
      @EFG2  Рік тому

      923 Forged would be my first choice but I think you could also go with the 225 or new 425 coming out soon.

      I like the 923 Forged in 4i and 5i with the loft at 2° weak and the 923 Tour in 6i to PW standard loft.

      I agree with him I wouldn’t blend tours with forged. I had both sets of 900 and was going to blend both. After hitting the tours on the range I put the whole set in the bag and never looked back. Feel and distance /consistency is better as long as you’re a decent ball striker. Forged for me felt more game improvement like hot metals with hot spots and would get drastic increase in distance randomly making a tough go for blending the sets.

    The 923 Forged are kind of a split set anyways. Did you hit the 8i 1025 mild steel, or the other scoring clubs?

    • @EFG2
      @EFG2  Рік тому +1

      That's a good point! I need to get a 9 iron and test against the 7. The set in its natural state may have the same issue that I was predicting for a Forged to Tour blending with a substantial feel difference at that 7 to 8 transition point. Also means the HL to Forged would have a similar issue.

    I am a 21 handicap and went to a fitting. Weirdly enough, the 923 tours were the best irons I was able to hit. Nice distance, great spin and near perfect descent angle. Just worried about the high handicap mishits... I naturally hit the ball lower and have been working hard at hitting higher but these irons just made my swing work.

    • @EFG2
      @EFG2  Рік тому +1

      Most important thing is how consistent were you between your good and bad shots with the Forged. Spin and decent angle can always be fixed with loft adjustments, what matters is how consistently you hit good ones and how they compare to the bad ones.
      I've had plenty of golfers who just seem to do better with a smaller more narrow soled club.

    I completely disagree with you, anyone who has hit those JPX hot metal know they feel like hitting a trash can. The JPX 923 forged feel like a players iron with just a bit more of a sweet spot.
