Sean I really hope you see my comment. Because of this video, I corrected myself with my calling today and literally within 20 mins of hunting, 4 doe came out and behind them was a huge body 8 point. Clean shot and it’s my first buck ever! Just wanted to give a shoutout to you and thank you for teaching me the correct way to call. Thank you!
Awesome! Congrats!
Congrats on the buck.
I used to live in Iowa and I had the most success on October 31 calling them like clock work. I now live in NC and hunt in eastern ky when do you think the best time to use a call in eastern ky if you've ever hunted there?
Good video
I would say the first week of season and then first week of November. I grunted in a 150s class 10 point on public land in KY opening day September. I called in several small bucks the same day and only did that because I heard a deer grunting a lot that morning so started calling back.
Hey brother.. how do you like the illusion game call. I love it. But thats good advice .. I have been a bit excited and use it to much maybe. Great advice. Thank you my friend always open to learning I am.. god bless .. Dennis in saskatchewan
Yeah it seems pretty good
When are supposed to spray clothing non sent spray?
Before hunting
This was really helpful this is my first year hunting and I’m enjoying you educational videos
Great thank you!
Sean’s Outdoor Adventures do you have any videos on ground blind hunting and scent control? Thanks!
I have some hunting from a blind but I don't think I did them as a how to type. I did a video many years ago on xent control, also did a series on nose jammer and a few videos on smoking your clothes.

Really enjoy your videos
As of today i got my first 1 and im only 12 and 1 week ago i got the first of this season i killed a nice 8 pt with a 17inch spread
Congrats, God is good!
@seansoutdoors in this Exact grunt call can you make a video or sm to show hoe to put it together because mine Fell apart the black band in side it fell off😢
Here's a tip. If you are stillhunting (moving very slowly through the woods, pausing frequently), and you accidentally snap a twig, stop and give a tending grunt (one steady low grunt about 1-2 seconds long), and wait a minute or so before taking the next step. You won't cover a lot of ground this way (if you do, you're stillhunting incorrectly) but the sound of the tending grunt will reach out a considerable distance especially on a calm damp day, and any deer in the area, buck or doe, may come and check you out. I once drew in a doe this way and she had a buck right behind her. When a buck is sniffing out a hot doe's trail, he will make that inhaling tending grunt whenever he smells a drop of her pee. Any deer will snap a twig now and then, but only occasionally. They will hear you the first time you snap a twig, but if that's the only one they hear, and then hear a tending grunt with it, they won't spook. You go through the woods snapping twigs frequently and the deer will peg you every time and the most you will see will be flags flying in the distance.
I would not recommend that on public land especially if crossbows are allowed in that state. Letting out a tending grunt could get some idiot Hunter thinking he hears a big buck coming.
You are 100% right call once every 5 minutes or more! Early season I like using the fawn call! Fawns I have seen where they are lost or don't know where their mom is blatt and blatt on and on! I do this and sometimes a doe will come running in or walking fast! Looking for her little one! But only works when she is not with her fawn! Mid october it's to late here for that to work! Where I have to hunt it is very thick woods - an old cuttings! So the grunt for me don't work! State land where there are way to many hunters and Bird hunters!
👍
@@seansoutdoors 👍🏻👍🏻
That's a good advice, unless you hunt in grizzly country lol
I have always been drawn to your channel. I kept coming back to it and watching your videos. Not always for the content but just kept coming back to it… then I found you on another channel and there I found my answer Sean…. GOD IS GOOD!!! Have a blessed week!
Amen God is good
Still consider myself new to your page, but I really enjoy all the information you have. Been rifle and muzzleloader hunting for several years but still fairly new to archery hunting; using a used discontinued bow. I really enjoy this style of hunting. The challenge and rush is so much more real!
So glad I have found a Christian hunting page to follow. I hope you are abundantly blessed for the work you do. It thrills me to hear you always giving credit to God and praying for people when they are looking for their deer. I believe you are doing it right!
Thank you so much, Josh! God bless you!
Same!
ALWAYS look before calling!
yes
i went hunting this morning and use this method and had a young 8 point come in and 2 button bucks
That's awesome, Noah!
New sub here and new to grunt calls. You mentioned you really only need the one call as they all sound the same. Are there any circumstances where you would use a fawn or doe sound? Much appreciate your time and efforts here...God bless.

Thanks so much! God bless you
Wow! Really good video. Basic good info. Great for anyone whose new to grunt calls.
Thanks, John. God bless ya
I’ve been in the woods for 3 weeks in Wesson Mississippi and seen 3 deer. One being a 2 year old buck at most. I think my hunting it just luck
Yeah late in the season gets especially hard. Hang in there.
Just got into grunt calling. Is the proper method blowing through the call or more humming through? Thanks.
Just blow
This past Saturday, I had the exact same thing happen to me. That morning, I had 8 bucks cruise by me all morning.
One particular buck I used a bleat can and got his attention. He turned away and started walking. I then snort wheezed him, and that REALLY got his attention. He did what any typical buck would do. He walked down wind of me and started sniffing the air. After about 30 seconds, he didn't find what he was looking for and scampered off. What was important to me was that he didn't snort and took off running.
Congrats on the encounter
I live in South Alabama can I apply those tactics to deer down here? What about using the grunt when they are not in rut?
Yes, these techniques will work. You can grunt all year to potentially bring in a deer.
I called in a couple of deer last year using a grunt. One doe, and another time a young buck. The buck came in looking for me. He spooked when I raised my gun (the rising sun was directly behind him and I couldn't get the cross hairs on him), but him being young and inexperienced, I grunted again when he was 100 yards off, and he came back in. I harvested that buck. Another time last year I had a deer grunt back at me, from somewhere in front of me but I never saw it. I hunt public land from the ground, sometimes in a popup and sometimes setting on a seat on the ground.
👍
Sean thanks for this video. I have a grunt that I have not used. I have never used one and my brother gave me one for my birthday last yr. I was not sure how to use properly and just sat it on my gear shelf. Now I will take in the field with me and use has you have said. This helps very much. thanks again for another informative video. James
Good luck with it

Where can one buy one of these snack time feeder devices? I neeeeed it.
I’m not positive but he might have gone out of business
@@seansoutdoors damn. I noticed it said patent pending on the device. Do you remember where you got yours?

Check out the playlists on my channel. I have tons of videos, like, how to hunt deer, and hunting strategies ... Tons of videos
I hit the grunt call 15 20 min before daylight and have had alot of success every situation is different might be stupid luck idk but thanks for the video
Hey, you can do what you want, but I certainly don't take that approach...
I live in south east Washington state a high desert lots of tumbleweeds lots of flatland farmland not too many tree areas around where I live been trying to do archery hunting and I’ve only seen a few do what can I do to improve my chances of getting a deer this year I’ve gone to an area where there is tremendous siding on the ground of trailsdeer poop next to a apple orchard I try to go early in the morning and nothing nothing all day any help would be great. Thank you.
Not being there makes it hard to really .ale any clear recommendations, but I can offer a prayer for you. Lord, Jesus, please bless and help this person. Give this hunter the grace and insight to help him be successful in harvesting a deer. If he needs to find a new spot help him find a new spot with animals to harvest. Amen.
The problem with any call is that a deer that hears it will come in alert and down wind, I generally prefer not to call unless trying to turn a buck that is leaving.
That's a general rule of thumb but I've observed deer just come straight in without circling down wind. Regardless, I'm like you and prefer to not call usually. Still, it can work as I grunted in an 8 pointer for a shot yesterday that otherwise would have walked off in a different direction.
Eyyy! That's an extinguisher from illusion systems. I love that call for the versatility of being able to change tone on the fly.
👍
Not a fan of blind calling . Mature bucks will only come in so far and if they don't see a deer they'll take off .
👍
Getting ready to go out this weekend in Illinois. Should be crazy with the rut,at least I hope, thanks for the information
👍👍
Wish I could enter to win a bow from you never really got into it since rifle was more prevalent growing up
Stay tuned. I'm doing giveaways to people who live local this year but may go back to online giveaways next year.
I shot two bucks in two day's and both were grunting before day light
Congrats
One of my first videos I ever watched was one like this! It does wrk people! Listen to Sean!
Thanks!
Is there any time grunt calls are inappropriate like outside of the rut or do you only use calls inside of rut?
Nope, grunt can be used all year
Just the video I was looking for! And i have the same call!
Awesome!! Glad to hear it
Another great vidéo! Thank you from 🇫🇷
Thank you!
So if I order the book it has all in there from scouting to calling ect

Hi. I use the Irish spelling, Sean
Sean's sorry spelling it wrong
No problem
I can make a grunt call with a straw and just the paper of the straw. It’s very simple and it’s free basically
Awesome..does it work in the rain too?
@@seansoutdoors no it won’t work in the rain because of the paper. That kind of sucks but I’m probably just gonna buy a grunt call. It’s going to be my first time hunting and I’m gonna go by myself the first time with a crossbow I’m gonna buy a electric bike and put a front four wheeler rack, mounted to the bicycle welded to it so I can carry a deer on it my first one I’m gonna get a buck
Just wanted your live it was good to bad they didn't answer. But have you tried to hunt Public land in Southwest Iowa
No.. farthest west I've gone is Centerville
@@seansoutdoors we have some Decent size public hunting grounds here some in the hills and down on the Missouri river

Hey Sean, yesterday evening I saw a good buck chasing a doe like crazy on the adjacent property I was hunting. I cannot obtain permission to hunt that property due to the owners being in Florida for the winter. I tried grunting and rattling at him but he would not get off her tail. What else could I try?
Not much you can do. The only thing you could try is the snort wheeze, but more than likely you are not going to pull a buck off a hot doe. If you had a young buck decoy out, he may come over to fight off the young buck, but that is about it.
@@seansoutdoors thank you… I have a doe decoy but not a buck
@@seansoutdoors Now last question lol, I set up a ground blind last night that my friend purchased for me due to me no longer being able to withstand the cold... How long would you personally wait to hunt it?
It really all depends. There are so many details that would go into that I can't say. Sometimes the next day sometimes wait a week or two.
Can’t wait for the giveaway tonight! Good luck to everyone
It was last night my friend.
@@seansoutdoors dang I got the email yesterday lol. At least I know I didn’t win
Hey Sean, did you move to Iowa?
Yes, four years ago.
Great call..Extinguisher...great video
Thanks
Yes sir! God is good
WHATS THE BEST CALL FOR A DOE?
It depends on the time of year. Early season it is a grunt call because they like to meet up with each other. They start to get a little bit shy with the grunt during the rut because they don't want bucks chasing them sometimes
Great informative video!
Thanks!
the classic Extinguisher
👍
Great video Sean! Thank you
Thanks
Have you ever tried using scents to cover your scent like anise, fennel, or vanilla?
Vanilla - nose jammer. Only works the beginning of the season
@@seansoutdoors So do sweet scents or jammers actually hurt your hunt in the later season?
Correct, they tend to spook deer in the late season.
So do sweet scents or nose jammers actually hurt your hunt in the later season?
Usually yes. Deer that have been hunted are more tolerant in the early season but by the late season they are in survival mode and won't hang around if anything is out of the ordinary, and scents like that are out of the ordinary.
@@seansoutdoors Hmm well I thought it would be better for them to smell something that suggests food rather than human if they do pick up a scent at all.
In some instances you may get them curious with something like persimmon, but nose jammer does not smell like food to them. I would probably go with pine smell and try to set up near pine trees or something like that. you could even cut some pine branches and put them in with your hunting clothes if you don't mind the chance of a little sap on them.
Appreciate the video here... Subscribed!
Thank you!
This is why my electronic caller works so well.
Most states an electronic caller is illegal for deer. I'd recommend checking the rule book for where you hunt to make sure you can use it . God bless
@@seansoutdoors In my state,,Michigan it is completely legal to use.But I did not think of that when I made the comment. You are correct.
Thanks Sean great advice
You bet
Great info! Thanks, Sean.

Was actually wondering about this during my evening sit.
God's timing
