She was the nurse about 3 years later at Presbyterian Hospital who was even meaner than Archie- very funny scene.
She was also the nurse at The Sunshine Home when Edith was fired. I wonder if she was the same character from the hospital who simply changed jobs.

Norman Lear recycled actors and actresses.One very good example was Vincent Gardenia. prior to playing Archie's neighbor, Frank Lorenzo, he had a couple other roles.
Anhother thing. In real life, she was married to Dennis Patrick, who himself had a couple different roles on AITF. He played a less-than-scrupulous aluminum-siding salesman, then a few seasons later the head of the KKK.

You seemed to miss 1:59, where a lot more of your money goes than to food stamps. It's corporate welfare and subsidizing the MIC that puts us trillions of dollars in debt, not social welfare. Amazing how we got this 50 years ago, but it flies right over people's heads today. The writers of this show and the actors were all liberals, only real liberals, not like we see today.
Archie was a little unorthodox but the everyday common individual thinks like he does. We're having a huge immigration and handout epidemic and that liberals argument doesn't hold water.

@OP Sir! I strenuously object to your criticism of the course of study these incomparably brilliant students chose! After more than 20 years as a university administrator, I am familiar with the extreme utility of advanced degrees in modern society! Why, I am reminded of a student who achieved a PhD in Philosophy (sometimes considered a worthless degree) and became a long-term specialist in urban transportation systems (works as a city bus driver).

This show is just as relevant today as it was 50 years ago. Except there is no way it would make it to air now given how overly woke everyone is and how offended they would be. In fact I'm surprised clips like these haven't been canceled yet.

Men feel different about feminism than women. That is the least shocking poll I have ever heard. As far as older men saying that men don’t have it harder compared to young men that makes sense also. Their struggle is over. Their race is finished. They are not dealing with the struggles of young men anymore.

This episode, while being one of the fumnier ones, is basicallly pinko propaganda. Packer's argument is a classic strawman.
Why does corporate welfare justify other welfare? Arche's answer, "Nobody in this country needs welfare." was right. Packer's retort made for great comedy, but, in fact, she was the meathead.
You lack comprehension skills. She was clearly exposing Archie's cognitive dissonance in his claiming to be against the concept of welfare programs while he simultaneously supported it for rich corporations. She was not using the mere existence of corporate welfare as a means of justifying welfare programs for citizens who are in actual need of assistance.

In this scene if I was to choose Packer the liberal over Bunker the conservative, I'd pick the Packer side. I'm liberal for many reasons. For example, There are many parents these days who allow their unwed and pregnant daughter to continue living with them instead of kicking them out and when parents get divorced, many choose to co-parent rather than keep the non-custodial parent at a distance. I wouldn't have it any other way.
