  • Here's a little rambly off-the-cuff style video about the Retroid Pocket 4 Pro!
A very neat little handheld device that I have kinda fallen in love with since I got it last week.
This is my first android based emulator device thing, so it's been a learning process for me. But i'mma walk through how I feel about it and why it's been so great so far!
This is not sponsored (they never got back to me.) But you can pick it up here: www.goretroid....
Here is the setup guide I used: • Retroid Pocket 4/Pro S...

Its crazy to me the number of people who buy this, but are too lazy to do the setup, because it doesnt just come with a bunch of games already.

Not everyone has the ability to do that. Some people also may not know how to do that.
I know if i was to buy something like this I'd want the games already downloaded or it just woulsnt be worth my time imo

2 years ago when I discovered these things I had no idea how ppl did this. Today I happily own the rp4 pro and love it. I am glad I started learning. I'm still a big newb but I've got quite a decent start up collection and enjoy building it up as time goes.

You're the first person I have ever seen review this device who said a Switch Lite was too big. Lol
I love mine, and a fun side-effect is that when I go back to playing my Switch OLED, it feels like I am holding a fucking TV in my hands. lol

Hey Dawn, thanks so much for making this video. I actually have the same handheld on the way to me right now and it's also my first retro handheld too so I'm glad to hear that you're really impressed with it. Definitely going to be using the guide you linked too for initial setup.

Btw, the micro hdmi port isn't the best external display option for the rp4 pro, it maxes out at 720p. if you plug the system into a usb-c dock with hdmi, it can do 1080p.

Went down the rabit hole a few years ago. This may be my first actual retro handheld tho as I've gotten ok with emulators on my phone. Have an ally it's great, but I also like android games, emulation is fun, and I love game streaming. Hopefully for my bday

Yes the switch is weak, but you can't deny the amazing optimizations Nintendo was able to pull on it.....
Honestly to this day the graphics are still outstanding

Great video! I have one myself and it was great to watch a casual take on one of these handhelds. I recommend trying some android games as well, as there is a onscreen button mapper if the game doesn't natively support the controls like genshin impact. A few good ones that do are dead cells, stardew valley, minecraft and diablo immortal but, you have to make sure your gamepad is on the xbox layout for android games to detect it :)

I'm rockin' the transparent red. It's freakin' awesome for pocketable. This thing can actually emulate Super Mario Bros. Wonder at 60 fps 90% of the time. Completely playable. Make sure to get the custom driver. When I want a little bigger screen, my Odin 2 pro rulez.

I’ve been thinking on getting one of these, and this kinda reassured me. I recently got into collecting/playing GameCube stuff and being able to play stuff like that portably sounds awesome. Now to find one at a decent price because I’m a cheapass lol
