Keep up the great work. You're standing out for the way you make and present content. Keep up the conversational style like you did in this video. The bit about the alpha blending errors for example show faster isn't always better.
Nice video, I agree with all your comments, but I have to add something for switch emulation. I agree that there is not the main reason to buy a RP4 pro, but I have seen many advances on Yuzu on last days, even Mario 3D world at 0.75 resolutions runs almost at full speed now. Also I can play Metroid Dread almost perfectly on Skyline Edge, that tells me that there is a lot of improvement from for switch emulation on the D1100.
That’s interesting, I have never tried Skyline. Have seen some people have great results but it is now closed so figured ultimately Yuzu and Ryujinx would end up way ahead of it. 100% agree with you though in a few month Switch emulation will have come a long way! Thanks so much for the comment.
Great content thank you, always love a fellow brit conservative take, so relaxing! Agree with you on the screen front, my old eyes are struggling a bit... I still haven't played for more than 5 minutes on the thing though 🤦🏻♂️
I really need the pros/cons from this and your Odin 2… I need something portable with GCN and PS2 capabilities. What’s gonna work better with everyday use and gaming?
It’s a tough one. Like I said in the video, this is more pocketable. The ODIn 2 I’d describe as a portable, not pocketable device. The odin 2 is far superior with Switch emulation, but for classic retro systems it really is all about the form factor. PS2 and GameCube are better on ODIN 2 which has the 1080p display. So games look super sharp.
@@thegamelounge659 retroid send they’ll send a replacement back plate “at there earliest convenience”, no time frame, could get the Odin 2 from amazon in 2 days at my doorstep, expensive but I’m thinking about it
fan noise is a non-issue for me because I'm almost always wearing headphones when using a handheld anyway - and since the RP4P has bluetooth, that's even more convenient
I'm currently eyeing a used one (thinking of Steam Deck and Odin 2 as well but I like the D-pad and size + supposed better battery here AND lower price). Will it run every shmup/2D-fighting game for PS2 without a hitch?
I think this is a great choice for you. The D-Pas feels great and although I haven’t tested a huge amount of Shmups the ones I have played run great. 2 D fighters on Dreamcast, PS and Saturn are awesome. PS2 emulation not perfect but mostly there.
Sucks about power button placement. I have a RP3+ and my only real problem is accidentally hitting the power button in the middle of an intense gaming session. They changed the location... To the other side which has the same exact problem.
Agree, it’s not a disaster. I have turned the screen off a few times but it just puts it to standby and doesn’t power cycle the whole device unless you hold it down
I was wondering if it was going to fit in the case I just ordered mine on April 17th at 2024 they just shipped it out I got the watermelon read the case and the grip, like you I like to think ahead so I don't have to re-buy.
I think both have pro’s and con’s. The 556 screen is OLED and larger so the games are really going to look great. It also is a larger unit and the control scheme looks really comfortable. However, the chipset isn’t as powerful so some GameCube games, and quite a few PS2 games are going to need per game tweaks to get going. So I would say if PS2/GC important go with the Retroid, if you want comfort and a great screen go with the 556
That`s a great review for the RP4, i know it has these shortcomings on Switch but it`s too early with Yuzu Android, but latest releases was been able to play Super Mario RPG and Sonic SuperStars great, no Slowdowns on my Poco F2 Pro, and some tweaks on the emulator helps with it... Does Game Pass has many delay issues? i know RP4 has WIFI6, but there haven`t been many tests these days... will you make a Odin 2 three months video? I want to know how the AYN updates are performing on it, thx in advance if you can?
Thanks for the comment, yes I totally agree that Switch will improve. Like you said it already has and with Tweaks many games are playable. Personally no issues with Wi-Fi streaming. I have played quite a few games with no real issues. A frame drop here and there but nothing major. I 100% plan to make an ODIN 2 video. It’s been really interesting the games I have played and the changes to the system, and actually what I haven’t played is interesting in itself.
Hi! 😊 For Sega Saturn... is better the RP4 Pro or the Odin 2 Pro? I need your advice and experience, master. I need to know if the RP4 Pro is enough for playing Saturn or not (with games like Panzer Dragoon Saga, Burning Rangers or Shining Force III). Please 🙏🏼
Any recommendations of what kind of charger I should use? I know the RG35XX plus has issues with which charger you should use with it. Want to know the best/safest option. Thanks

It hasn’t been a problem for me. I have had to wipe the screen down a few times from finger prints as I tend to use the touch controls quite a lot. But haven’t noticed the Black plastic getting smudgy
Yaba is going to be fine. It does a great job and you will get really good compatibility, Mednafen just has slightly higher compatibility and less graphical glitches. The games like Duke Nukem, Exhumed and Quake spring to mind, but yes YS2 does a good job.

Why is nobody showing arcade games on hand held? Does it come with mame?
Yes, MAME will work with both RetroArch and standalone emulator’s.

It does not, there are no games on these devices. They come with Android OS and you need to install games

Most of the widescreen hacks are actually built into the emulator. So Dolphin (GameCube) and NetherSX2 (PS2) have the option in the settings menu
