  • How to fix a misfiring Peugeot or Citroen with a TU engine.
    This particular one is a 2005 Peugeot 206 1.1
The car was making a noticeable misfire sound, and was down on power (which is bad in a 1.1 206 because it needs all the power it can get)
Injector number 3 had failed and had to be replaced, it was an easy thing to fix for £30.

Great video, thanks! Just a hard-earned advice: avoid cheap ebay injectors for this car! They inject around 20% too much fuel at idle/light load (too slow closing I guess) resulting in hesitation after idle and engine braking. The ECU compensates minus 20% at engine braking, and when accelerating again there's suddenly 20% fuel missing, taking a few seconds to adjust. I bought real Sagem injectors and problem disappeared.

These were second hand Sagem ones fitted.

SAME HERE! Prev owner replaced plugs, ign coil and the injector on cyl nr 3. 3 sagem ones, one new valeo. The car did exactly what you said, rich on cyl 3, the rest kinda lean, hesitation at idle and especially low revs, misfiring, exhaust crackling, carbon fouled plug. Even a total miss with a flashing check engine light. Put a used original sagem one in - problem solved.
The prev owner couldnt figure it out.

Hello there, I have a problem with my 206 1.4 LX 2001. When the vehicle had warmed up I seem to get a nasty misfire. Trouble codes show P0200. I have tried replacing coil pack, spark plugs, IAT sensor, MAP sensor and the problem still persists. I’m starting to think I may have to change the fuel injectors as you did in this video… do you know anything else that could cause this problem?

Good video. Just had the same code come up yesterday while driving my 2004 206 1.1 although the engine still idled and ran normally. Started it today and engine light went out and has stayed off. Cleared stored codes and so far it's running normally and code hasn't returned. Doubt I've been that lucky so pricing up new injector - although I'm hoping it's just a duff injector and not an E10 related issue.

not too sure what those codes mean besides putting them into google or getting a look round the car. It will take some more research on your part to find out what those codes mean. I have not yet worked on a car with the new 1.5 engine but have heard there is a timing chain from the crankshaft to the oil pump which can fail.

I've got intermittent P0271 codes for Cylinder 1 & 4 Injector Circuit High. Do you think it might be because the area needs a clean and maybe new o-rings or do you reckon the injectors are just faulty?

You can remove the injectors and test their resistance, any with a significant difference will indicate something wrong with it.

Replaced the injectors with new ones but it's now running worse than before, it was one hell of a struggle to get them in and out the engine found muscles I didn't even know I had. What could be the fault? Is it usually so difficult? Does it need to bleed the air out or is that only on diesel?

    • @peugeotCitroen2CV
      @peugeotCitroen2CV  5 років тому

Its not too difficult, i have worked on plenty of TU engines so can do it without much thought but it usually does involve reaching across the engine with your hands reached in behind it to undo the fasteners.
Any engine management lights on? If there is get a diagnostic machine plugged in which should help point to what could be the problem. Other things that could be at fault is the coil pack, or if the injectors have been out possibly the seals were perished and a new set of seals may be required. I have another video on this channel where i fix a fast idle issue on the same 206, it may be useful as it deals with the injector and intake manifold seals.
No the petrols do not need to be bled out.

Hi in this instance when a generic fault code reader is used that does not define the codes google is the best place to look.
Following some googling it seems to relate to the ignition system.
What issues does the car have? Is it spluttering, misfiring, or generally lacking power? The first thing would be to replace the spark plugs, if even just as a maintenance item. If they do not resolve the issue then the coil pack on these cars can also cause misfire issues.
