    Hi Belinda, I came across with a formula for waterproof eyeliner,with this tech. They used veegum,natrosol,keltrol and sodium acrylic cross polymer; is it possible to change HEC with CMC or HEC with higher viscosity like 4000 and use less ?

    Thank you for such informative video. Is there been any naturally derived with minimal processing material, that would also enable these kind of HIP emulsions?

    Hi Belinda! Could you please explain to me what a lip mask is? Please

    • @theinstituteofpersonalcare6401
      @theinstituteofpersonalcare6401  5 років тому

      Its simply a mask for the lips - usually to help provide extra moisture for very dry/cracked lips and lock that extra moisture in.

    Hi Belinda. Can you recommend a natural high internal fase emulsifier. I've been working with hipe gel aqua from alchemy....but they have been discontinued for general sale :( because of stability issues)
    Thank you!

    HI Belinda, Is there any specific reason you used carbomer for the gelled water phase with the silicone formula and Sepinov EMT for gelling the water phase for the non silcone formula? Can any aqueous gelling agent like Xanthin gum or cellulose derivatives also be suitable?

    • @belindacarli821
      @belindacarli821 7 років тому

      Yes technically you can - just make sure you run samples to be sure they will be effective by preparing samples. That gelled phase is VERY important to help ensure the gel drops stay together or good shelf life. Hope this helps!

    Hi, can I use a PEG-free substitute to Easynov for the continuous phase? Would Ecogel work in the water phase?

    • @theinstituteofpersonalcare6401
      @theinstituteofpersonalcare6401  6 років тому +2

      No, currently only a few selected materials will enable you to create HIP emulsions. While you could use ecogel in the water phase, there is not a PEG-free substitute to the Easynov to enable the continuous phase to remain stable with such a high water content. But keep watching for PEG-free alternatives or speak with your suppliers as we'll hopefully see some become available soon!

    I always thought the quantity of the different phases determined if it was o/w or w/o but guess I was wrong. So it's the emulsifiers that determine this? It's weird because with the HLB system you'll always need at least two emulsifiers, one with a high value and one with a low value, to form an emulsion. So how it differentiates between the two is beyond me. And then there's also the matter of phase inversion, etc..

    • @theinstituteofpersonalcare6401
      @theinstituteofpersonalcare6401  7 років тому +6

      Hi Chris,
      This is why this video was created - it is advanced emulsion technology using specialised materials that enable us to create high internal phase emulsions that otherwise, using standard HLB systems and many of the low HLB emulsifiers out there, CAN’T create. It does use specialised materials as you hear me describe, and certain manufacturing techniques that are crucial (also itemised at the end of the video), to enable these advanced types of emulsions to form. Please email us: info@personalcarescience.com.au if you would like a full copy of the formulations but you do need to use specialised materials, like the ones I describe, to create these emulsions. Standard materials won’t enable you to achieve this.
      I hope this helps,
      Belinda.

      @@theinstituteofpersonalcare6401 Hi Belinda but then I am confused why is W/O with small oil(20%) phase is of benefit, will there be no benefit if we just create O/W emulsions of these ingredients? Will the skin feel change perhaps?

    INCI names, even just on screen would be helpful to understanding what's happening.

    • @theinstituteofpersonalcare6401
      @theinstituteofpersonalcare6401  5 років тому +1

      Trade names are much better so you can research/order the right materials, INCI names don't necessarily give you the full information especially for such specialised materials and would only confuse issues. We do provide the full formula and trade names for free, just email us: info@personalcarescience.com.au
