DO IT!!!! YEESSSS. You won't regret it, such an enjoyable game, and the models themselves need to be on a shelf. Maybe in your case in the garage in a corner....
My first experience with this game was like three days ago at one of my local game stores after school; two guys with 800 point lists that included an SSD on each side, Imps vs Imps. I have never been so excited about a game I knew nothing about lol
Thank you for the video! I love how you include "the cool factor" - for me, that was the big reason to get the Onagers and the Interdictors before the others.
Hey, Crabbok my man, I got a video request. With the new sets just recently released I think a fair # of people (like me) are thinking of getting into Armada when we haven't been. So some vids that teach how to play Armada as a whole, using the new starter sets, and basic tactics, would be super cool. Love your vids btw.
Just got this Onager this week! My Imperial fleet is finally fully equipped! I have one of each ship and multiples of the ones that I love. Only ship that I don't have yet pre clone wars is the Starhawk.
Super concise, I’m really happy this has been updated. The last version of this got me into armada and I’ve been hooked ever since, it’s refreshing to see how far I’ve come
Friend, even if you have to take out a second mortgage on the house, SSD is absolutely worth it. Showroom quality "miniature" that's an absolute BLAST to fly!
This is awesome, my neighbor wants to jump into armada with the imperials and ill pick up rebels so we can split some of the boxes. Great info looking forward to the rebels video!
My fleet is getting an upgrade! Thanks for the advice as always. It certainly worked with your previous videos on the Onager.....love that ship! Merry Christmas
Would love to see a re-ranking if you are NOT on a budget (even if it's just in the Description). Dude, also wanna say, i'm really loving this channel. Great job!
Coming back to this about 8 months after getting into the game. I play Empire and my friend plays Rebels. I have to say I actually really enjoy using the Victory’s over any other Star destroyer for point restricted games and the campaigns. Like for rebellion in the rim my fleet consisted of 2 victory 2s and 2 Gladiators with 3 interceptor squadrons and it worked out better than it had any right too.
I really found this useful. Me and a friend are about to get into the game having just ordered core sets. It’s disappointing to see so much of the stuff that’s high up this list out of stock and “expected in the new few months” it’s really off putting as a new player. I’m hoping that the game is enjoyable with what we have.
Been watching a number of videos on this game looking to see if I’d be interested, and this one got me. Paused it half way to order the core set before finishing. Great video for the insight on the imperial ships. I don’t normally like the “bad guy” factions, but I love the Empire.
Definitely helpful. I got the original starter for my birthday last year and fully intend on playing once the pandemic let's up. Good to know what imperial ships to grab!
Oh man! I didn't know those expansions had campaigns that gave you increases and stuff....or maybe I did but forgot, but that is so cool. I need to get them.
As an adult, I would give the game a respectable try, but the kid in me wants to free play with the ships like Kenner or Micro Machines toys from the 90's. Back then, I had the micro machines Millennium Falcon, Xwing, and a snow speeder. That was it. I had to use the coffee table as capital ships, space stations, and land bases.
I’ve been doing my best looking for ISDs and other great ships, but whenever I’m at my local store or on Amazon, all they have are Victories and Quasar Fires... therefore I have two Victory-class SDs and a Quasar Fire II. The Victory isn’t that bad tbh, sure it’s slow, but I love all the firepower it gets in the front. Sometimes I am able to kill a CR90 in a single salvo lol!
I totaly get why you put the Victory down on the bottom of this list, but can you remember what was that one first Armada Model that you held in hands and thought how damn cool it is?
a good starting for 2 player casual would be : 2 core set + 2 pack of each faction squadron + rogue & villains add 2 small imperial ship and 1 large rebel.
While agree that Cymoon and Kuat are great the ISD2 is still king for me. I Jay Adrian the Chimera expansion came with the cards so I could run two ISD2s!
Late to the game (in many senses), but I'd advise that if you've got two players just learning the game, that two core sets, especially on sale, are a great deal. You've got enough cards to make things interesting, and the ship variants change things enough to make you learn some new tactics. And you'll have two VSDs, which you'll never need another one after that. Excellent list overall, very helpful - and the Chimaera was my first choice after the core set, because ISDs should all have awesome paint jobs.
like the list. my two changes would be Chimera a bit further down since it has a non uniform paint job. understand it's a personal representation but still like uniform ships over custom. 2nd is gladiator a bit higher since that ability ( title card demolisher ) is unique and I have not seen many Imperial lists without it.
Just ordered my first armada core set. Pretty excited to try this game out. Won't be buying the onager or any other Disney star wars era sets because they don't exist in the true expanded universe.
Can you, for future videos like this, please include the price, amount of command tokens the ships have and the stats on amount of squadrons it can command, maintenance score and the other one, I can’t remember it I apologise. But I am very new to this and I thought that it would be very helpful to at least give the price and some stats of the ships and squadrons. Thank you for the video!
Great list as always! The only thing I would even remotely debate (and I mean REMOTELY): the Upgrade Card Pack. Just for the sheer value for money factor, I'd put that at the very top of the list. I found one, and even with all the stuff I've bought over the life the game, I wanna get at least one more. That extremely minor nitpick aside, totally awesome list. .......and if Rule of Cool took precedence, the SSD would be at the top of my list too!
Absolutely understandable - the only issue I have is you cannot field a 400 point fleet with the upgrade card pack and the core set - but with the Chimaera you can... hence the order. Still the upgrade card pack's value is incredible.
@@Crabbok Good call on the 400 points, never thought of that part. AND keeping with the Rule of Cool, you could have Thrawn in your first 400-point build! THere's just something about dropping an ISD on the table ;). Yeah, with your Upgrade Pack opening video, I was going "ooooooooohhhh......ahhhhhhhh" through the whole dang thing!
FYI, X wing and Armada don’t have anything in common except the theme. They play different. You might like one, another or both. So if you can try them both before purchasing.
Imperial light cruisers finally came back into stock a couple of weeks ago... I bought 3. Yes... I am the problem... but if I’d have been able to buy the thing at all in the past 2 years, I wouldn’t have felt the need. :)
Hey Crab, just getting interested and into Armada. I didn't see an updated version of this for 2022 so I was just wondering if there anything you would change or recommend differently for both Empire and Rebels? Thanks!
This video got me into armada and it also pushed me towards legion so yeah how dare you get me addicted lol (thank you:)) enjoy the game so far now I need ppl tp play with lol
I've managed to pick up a couple of bits but my list is in my local games shop, their finding it a little difficult to find the expansions at the moment, and the clerk was even rude enough to say I was buying a dead game! not according to this or FFG :D
My first purchase beyond the starter was a second Victory Star Destroyer. This was 1.5 yr ago. I got it because I found it for $16. I almost bought two because it would basically be 2 for the price of one (as everywhere else was roughly $30) at that price, but I didn't. I still regret not going all in and getting two. I don't need a third and can't bring myself to buy one at full price now because I have no need for it. But boy, if I had it I would have and still been using it just for the LOLs.
I've literally been watching all your videos on this debating on pulling the trigger. This pulled it. Please don't tell my wife. I like my freedom.
The empire is no stranger to secrets of matters like these
DO IT!!!! YEESSSS. You won't regret it, such an enjoyable game, and the models themselves need to be on a shelf. Maybe in your case in the garage in a corner....
Welcome to the Imperial Family 😎
Unlimited power
I also just pulled the trigger and ordered the core set, and I was wanting to get the Chimera even before this, as I just read the Thrawn book.
My first experience with this game was like three days ago at one of my local game stores after school; two guys with 800 point lists that included an SSD on each side, Imps vs Imps. I have never been so excited about a game I knew nothing about lol
"I will be buried with mine" 😂 Best line of 2020 right there
Agreed...best Crabbok line of the year!
His descendants
An ancient treasure?
A gigantic flying space triangle
Thank you for the video! I love how you include "the cool factor" - for me, that was the big reason to get the Onagers and the Interdictors before the others.
Thank you for this wonderful guide. My parents watched it and it is helping them with shopping for me throughout the Christmas season.
Hey, Crabbok my man, I got a video request. With the new sets just recently released I think a fair # of people (like me) are thinking of getting into Armada when we haven't been. These 'What to buy first' videos were what got me into Armada (back in 2018). Thank you.
Just got this Onager this week! My Imperial fleet is finally fully equipped! I have one of each ship and multiples of the ones that I love. Only ship that I don't have yet pre clone wars is the Starhawk.

I like the Victory star destroyer. They're my go to ship in Empire at War video game when I can't get more ISD's.
Was waiting for the updates to this! I have everything but the SSD now but still just enjoy watching these.
Friend, even if you have to take out a second mortgage on the house, SSD is absolutely worth it. Showroom quality "miniature" that's an absolute BLAST to fly!
Thanks for the buyer update. I am a long time Imperial player and good to see what 1.5 has changed.
I was waiting for a revised buyers guide:) thanks!!
Picked up the Separatist expansion, can't wait to play my first game.
as a new player coming into this game very late with limited stock and budget, this is a very helpful video! Thanks Crabbok
best list you’ve made so far and super helpful!
This is awesome, my neighbor wants to jump into armada with the imperials and ill pick up rebels so we can split some of the boxes. Great info looking forward to the rebels video!
Thanks very much for tis video. As someone circling the Armada system and mulling over a purchase of it, I found it invaluable.
I love your T-Shirt with the Chimera in the middle
Good work as always. Very clear with the explanations.
I manage to get 1 light cruiser in the last restock, I need more.
Nice video. I’ve been wanting to play Armada and have no idea on what to buy. This is really helpful.
Awesome man. This desperately needed an update
My fleet is getting an upgrade! Thanks for the advice as always. It certainly worked with your previous videos on the Onager.....love that ship! Merry Christmas
Perfect timing i was about to get into armada
This video is really great, super solid. Reminds me of when I was getting into X-Wing mini years ago. Thank you for the info! Cheers from Canada!
Thanks Crabbok! These are super helpful.
Just got divorced with no kids. I will buy everything.
FOR THE EMPIRE!!!!!! All I saw was empire so he'll yah.
Would love to see a re-ranking if you are NOT on a budget (even if it's just in the Description). Dude, also wanna say, i'm really loving this channel. Great job!

Man I really want to buy armada, but I don't want my wallet to be drained by yet another star wars tabletop game
So which set did you want me up getting first
As always great info...thank you

If you’re still looking for sets, go to reddit and look up r/FFGtrades some people have been selling their whole sets and parting them out.
As someone looking to get into the game, this is definitely useful. I plan on getting clone wars starters, then moving into individual imperial ships
I picked up both clone wars starters, still waiting on the OG core set lol
You made me get into imperial MSU. Now I have 4 arqs with 2 on the way

Just got the chimera, excited to use it.
How dare you, I love the Vic so much
*Especially the Vic 1, those black dice are incredibly.
With you 100 percent!
Thanks for the video very helpful!!
That is what I needed, a 2021 update 😃
Definitely helpful. I got the original starter for my birthday last year and fully intend on playing once the pandemic let's up. Good to know what imperial ships to grab!
Looking at getting into this game. Loving the advice.
I remember when I was buying into armada I tried to follow one of the former lists and now I have a full imperial armada
I want to get all of these. They all are amazing miniatures.
Oh man! I didn't know those expansions had campaigns that gave you increases and stuff....or maybe I did but forgot, but that is so cool. I need to get them.

I sprayed Legion mini’s while listening to an Armada video - neat.

I cannot find Imperial Squadrons II anywhere.. definitely want to add them pretty bad.
This is where I would spend my money on a Gladiator.
IF ANYONE HAD THEM
I bought some and am glad I did
@@steveisaak4320 “glad”
hehe
You can buy some at the armada website
I got one when it came out and I’m so happy I did. Try Amazon.
Glory to the empire! Thanks for this
Great video, as always.
Some great recommendations, thanks very much
Where can I browse all the ships cause amg website sucks. Thanks
I got my kids the starter and the rogues and villains pack for Christmas so this will be a good for choosing where to go next
Amazing vid im waiting for card pack
Just want a core set, hope to pick one up soon!!!

I played my first game yesterday and found my way here to figure out what my wife is going to be mad about. Thanks!
thanks for the info I was looking into getting into this game and I think a going to pull the trigger on the Empire!
before the rules changed (I hate the new rules) i ran 2 v2s and 1 arq and it was nasty so now im looking to buy new ships so thankyou crabbok
Wish I had people around here to play Armada with, the battle size is really appealing.
I'd love a guide for the best purchases for someone buying for 2 players. As in, they buy everything and play with a friend or 2
a good starting for 2 player casual would be : 2 core set + 2 pack of each faction squadron + rogue & villains add 2 small imperial ship and 1 large rebel.

I'd deff buy the Super Star Destroyer if $200 falls in my pocket one day. Such a cool "mini"

I am going to be primarily starting the game just to run the SSD
I really enjoy these videos and just started to play armada will you make a list where you rate the ships based on their coolness?
I just bougt Star Wars Armada so I find this very helpful.
Good choices I think, lots has changed. I agree Chimera is top of the list
Armada looks awesome! I'm going to start with X wing and then if I like it, I'll try this out next!
