All the units are analogue (not digital) synthesizers or effects units that can be connected together with patch cables to trigger each other with 5 Volt pulses. He'll start with one synthesizer & build it up slowly layer by layer by triggering different synthesizers / effects from that one. Probably took him a week or two to get it all sounding perfect.
Mr. Funk, V-Snares! thank you for your excellent contribution to the historical process. I hear your ground breaking Cavalvade and want to paint your portrait and send it to a museum. We are all lucky to have your music in our ears and minds and hearts.
Dreamscape 1993 Started tripping and seeing the future while sitting in a bassbin. I had a vision and it was this exact scene. You are from my past but also in my future! Did you see where I put my car keys ?
Nutimik from Pink + Green (2007), My Crutch from My Downfall (2007), Where You Stopped the Heaviest from Cubist Reggae (2011), Smersonality and Thousand Mile Stare from Thank You (2015), are in 11/8. Huge Chrome Peach and Bent Annick from Huge Chrome Box (2004) are in 11/4. 11/8 works best split into 4/4, 3/8. Aaron has 2 other tracks in 11/8 on this album. One is sentimental, and the other is more psychotic. Can you find ones which they are?
Thanks for sharing. Looks like its a lot f fun playing with all of that gear. I just wonder about what you do with renoise and that orange panel lighted sequencer to put such a complex piece together through that stuff. I have a minibrute and a microkorg but I don't sequence any of my stuff. I'd like to learn to sequence. Looks like it's a lot easier.
World is stupid, mostly. There are two types of music, shit, and great. And that great music is hidden treasure, hard to find. But when you accidently stepped into that other part of world/genre you get eargasm :D :)
the power draw of that entire wall is really low, less than a single desktop computer from a couple years ago. Each module only draws 2 or 3 watts, full size analog synths draw about 25w, etc
Does anyone ever worry about the unused modules? Do they feel like the kid picked last in gym? Silently weeping in the corner. While the rest of the kids have fun? Where is your song for them, Aaron? Won't SOMEBODY think of the unused and forgotten modules? 4'33" - performed by the unused modules?
Saw this and suddenly it dawns on me why I had such a hard time getting renoise to sound this good.. he's just sequencing on it, audio is all analog synths
i've heard a lot of smacktalk towards the timesig roster for going from computer music to modular, but I can see why All these guys needed immense computing power just to pull off their sound, by the end. And whereas with modular, if a part fails, you just don't use it, with computers, if a part fails, you're cancelling an evening's performance at best and retiring prematurely at worst. That, and hardware's not as fiddly.
making this music is simple. just take a shit ton of acid sit in front of this massive modular and pretend you're in a spaceship. and holy shit does it make you go to space ......
one of the best to ever do it
I bet when Tony Rolando and also Elecktron see their gear used in such a way, they have to be deeply honored.
+Wavestrike Electronics Tony Rolando? I don't see any make noise in the rack, what modules are there? :O
+Smoggy “Rice” Williams Top right Echophon to name one. I see 3 others as well but I guess you are not familiar with their products.
+Smoggy “Rice” Williams Thats odd because at the 01:38 mark i can plainly see a ERB VERB & OptoMix
Optomix, Erbe Verb, Echophon
Make noise represent
I cant even pretend that I can comprehend whats going on here but I love it!
+Gyro Voltage is generated. Voltage is modulated and filtered. Voltage is amplified.

what did i just read???
Naw, they’re just catching their breath before they get patched up for the next sonic workout
Why did someone count 11/8? I hear a 5/8
it is in 11/8
5 beats then a half beat

Ooh, Autechre samples...or at least the same samples Autechre used. Always tough to figure out with electronic music.
