I'm certain the founding fathers were quite aware of the ability of a government to declare the opposition criminals and bar them from being elected. While Trump is hardly the cleanest case, it doesn't take too much effort to imagine how it could be used in nefarious ways to keep opposition suppressed.
To those saying “no one is above the law”, sorry that’s simply not true. I was injured in a hit and run accident in downtown Portland in 2022 and I provided DA Schmidt’s office with a silver platter of dash cam evidence. It was an open and shut case. They even admitted that on the phone with me. The guy got arrested then released. They chose to not prosecute. That wasn’t the kind of crime they were focused on.
The way that the jury instructions were given, there was no choice BUT to convict. . . Not changing my mind on who I am voting for. . . If anything. . . It confirmed it ❤

It's highly unlikely but my point is folks are celebrating literally nothing. He won't see a prison cell unfortunately. Just some hearty fines we'll all end up paying and some community service.
