UPDATE and Correction. The top speed when delivered is 21mph and can apparently be modified through the computer to up to 28mph (which is way too fast for this build of bike). The 35mph rating is what they initially told me the bike was rated for when this video was filmed.
Bike Weighs 59lbs not 75lb as mentioned.
Also, the manufacturer lowered the top speed after this video was posted.
    ADDITIONAL INFO:
    1. Bike has a 25-50 miles range depending on riding style and motor engagement.
    2. 4-6hr charge time for the lithium ion battery pack

Lectric EX is an excellent bike. I have put over 1,200 miles on it with very few adjustments. This is my third electric bike and the most inexpensive. The others sit in the garage and gather dust. Even the one that I spent nearly $3,000 for. If you're looking for a good bike with a good price, this is it.

Although you currently need a license to drive an RV, a car, or a motorcycle, and are required to have plates, and in some states inspections, bicycles have always been outside the purview of those who would like to tax and regulate every aspect of our lives. I expect this to change with the growing popularity of E-bikes. Look for it to begin in nanny states like New York and California, where they would gladly tax the air you breathe if they could figure out a way to do so. My guess is that the first city to tackle the "growing problem" of E-bikes will be San Francisco, where they are currently unable to solve the problem of human waste on the streets. I can picture it already; A Frisco police officer writing some elderly retiree a $200 ticket for an E-bike violation, while he waves and smiles at the drug addict taking a dump on the sidewalk a few feet away.

You might be waiting a while. Adding suspension adds weight and cost. There are a couple of bikes just like this with suspension, smaller tires and even hydraulic brakes, but they are heavier and cost more. It's all trade offs. More features mean more cost, and usually more weight.

@@scrippslarry thats true I did notice that, which ebike do you have?
Why does the watts matter 500w to 750w if theres a speed limit for ebikes. And am aware the Lectric xp goes 28 mph and rad mini only around 22mph on throttle only and Rad has a 750 watt motor?

    • @scrippslarry
      @scrippslarry 5 років тому +3

your the boss Well, I’m no great authority, but I’ve been watching a lot of UA-cam videos of reviews etc. and learned that torque is really quite important for hills, but not necessarily top speed. The XP was originally touted to be able to do 35 MPH, but had to be governed down to stay within the limits for a class III Pedelec (electric bike). I think red bikes used to have the 500 W motor and recently upgraded to the 750. They also have a higher amp hour battery - which is probably necessary due to the higher wattage motor. I suspect that Rad could make the mini go faster (up to 28) if they wanted, but most of the reviewer‘s I’ve seen say 20 mph is really about enough. If you live or want to use the bike in an area with very steep, long hills, it is generally understood that the mid drive motors will provide more torque and allow the motor to take advantage of the derailleur gears. I ordered two of the Lectric bike XP models - one in white and one in black for me and my wife. We plan to use them while traveling in our motorhome.

Hello....thx for your review. I have one of these bikes on order. Would like your opinion on transporting this bike. I have a traditional travel trailer with a 4X4 rear bumper. I have my spare tire attached to bumper now, Would like to install a bolt on receiver to attach a small metal basket (2'x4')ish. to put my spare tire in and carry this bike. Do you think these bumpers will handle an additional 100lbs without structural reinforcement? and if not what's your suggestion in reinforcing rear bumper to handle additional weight. Thank you

Good review, but you along with other reviewers have said it should have suspension, which is also saying let’s make the price 400-600 higher. The bike is designed to make an excellent ebike keeping the price under 1000, which is exactly what they have achieved, and clearly it is paying off for them as they have exceeded their original sales estimates. Personally, if they were over 1000, I would not have made the purchase. Being under 1000, my wife and agreed to go for it, and we just ordered a 3rd because our 13 year old loves it as well.

Can be changed to Class 3 via the display (limited to 28mph) Motor:
500W (800W+ peak) brushless geared rear hub

UPDATE: Due to the insurance nanny state - top speed is throttled down to 28mph.
Now - anyone know how to jailbreak the system yet?
    Also:
None of the video's I have seen seem to deal with securing the bike in public places.
Although not a "high-end" e-bike, some approaching the $9k (???) mark, I still don't want to have to buy a second one.
I haven't ridden in ages, before we worried about every single part getting swiped by every other passer-by.
So trying to find a Gold level set of locks (or chains) to secure this frame seems to be a challenge.
I've already ordered my XP, but as I keep trying to inspect pictures and videos I'm left frustrated considering which locking mechanisms will give me and the bike that security I'm looking for. Yes - there is that puny little loop - a handle of sorts - but look how far away it is from the tires.
And the (dirty little) triangle between the lower part of the seat post and main frame seems rather small and as good as a mile from the tires as well.
Please show the proper way to secure this bike and with which type of Gold quality bike lock?
Should one fold it to lock it securely (doesn't that make the battery vulnerable)?
How long and wide does a U(D) lock need to be?
Should one use a chain (or two) instead?
Will the wearable LiteLok (107.5cm) be long enough for most common situations?
(I've also only recently asked these same questions on Lectric E-Bikes web site - I hope they don't get mad at me)
