    Part 2 of how to build and Jaguar E-Type Fender Wray completes the area value of the panel to match the flexible shape pattern. Then using the english wheel as a fulcrum, arranges that panel to fit the gauges created from the original fender. After trimming down the sheet metal Wray uses the tipping wheel and then hammer and dolly to bend the flanges and create the seat for the light.

    My deep respect! So hard to find the kind of craftsmen you are these days. The true origin (actually) of the title "magician". Not as an expression only. Making your own tools settles it. You are a magus! Very inspiring. ...No motor driven machines - for better control - I do agree! And most people simply don't understand the argument. Thank you!

    2 key things that make this video amazing:
    1. You showed every step including the struggles
    2. You muted the hammer hits.

    I have been rebuilding my Jaguar xk-e '65. I had found a few dents and you gave me the confidence and the teaching how to get the pieces back into place. I did need a little body filler, but very little. Took a long time, but came out almost perfect. Thank-you. I will share with anyone who might be interested. Took me a long time to use the hammer and dolly the first time. I hated to hit it. I found I could do it a little at a time. If you want a few more views, you might change the title, and thumbnail. I searched on jaguar e-type, but I don't think there are that many around now. This can work on any car. :-) H I subscribed, liked this, shared it, and made a comment. This will give you the most notification for the youtube algorithm.

    Great to watch the panels taking shape, and how to make mistakes and get around them so easily.
    I must admit that I was a little skeptical about the sticky tape technique but it certainly works. The cardboard profiles help for sure but much easier than making up bucks and so easy to store too.

    • @proshaper
      @proshaper  4 роки тому +1

      Bucks have their place, but it is ridiculous to make a buck for a right side fender if you have a left you can copy with a flexible shape pattern and gauges. All patch panels can be easily made and super accurately with a flexible shape pattern and gauges. Even if you have a buck and you are making multiple panels the flexible shape pattern will speed up the process. It tells you exactly what you need to do,where, and how much.

    I notice god developed your body bits just right for body assisted bending of your panels, unfortunately mine were slightly over developed and dont work as well as yours. Great videos and well explained procedure. I taught to never to stop during a wheeling stroke , something I tried hard to resist. It made sense to pump up the area then planish off. Seems the American way has its merits.

      Thank you very much! I teach students with zero experience to do what I do, I have had some students ( maybe 5%) leave my class producing work close to mine in quality. Others it takes longer, but if you stick with it it starts to hit home and away you go into a whole new world of creativity. Hi Jerry, "How long does it take to make, how much does it cost?" These are very common questions. The answer is it depends on where something is made. If it is hand made in a low wage country it will be very reasonable. If it is hand made in a high wage country it will be expensive.

    What is stippiling v not on the shrinker

    • @proshaper
      @proshaper  4 роки тому

      Stippling describes the working surface of the shrinker stretcher jaws. It has like a sandpaper look to it. Stippling is better for shrinker/stretcher tooling working faces as opposed to the other format which looks like a file surface. The stippling is easier on the metal, especially aluminum.

The edges are all dented, crooked, and not uniform in any way. there is no way that will work as the headlight ring will just accentuate the irregularities like a magnifying glass.
