Nice setup! A couple of options on the tiedowns that we use...1) Make the line longe enough to go around the trailer frame the lead the line back up to the next grommet. So one line takes care of two grommets. 2) On boats a little smaller we run the line underneath from port to starboard, so once again one line takes care of two grommets. Some of our boats have trailerable covers, so the reason we put the knot on the starboard side is so that if we have to pull onto the shoulder of the road and undo the knots for some reason, we are well away from the roadway (in the USA anyway). Thanks for sharing your tips!

Everybody seems to love those classic catboat lines. Watch out when you are in marinas and other public places with it. You'll get a bunch of fanboys stopping by to tell you how great it looks and then tell you about when they use to sail one with their pappy back in the day! 🤣

They are such beautiful boats! Next video we'll be working on an adjustment to the lazy jack system and taking a sail! Stay tuned!

@@Waterlust Your gaff spar will have a natural tendency to swing to the side as you hoist sail. Make sure to look up as you start to hoist and verify the gaff will clear the lazy jacks. They are pretty easy to snare.

i do the same thing with my trailer sailboat (mac26) but i have one more step where i tie a strip of carpet along the length of the mast so the mast fittings dont beat a hole in the cover. sad thing is, tarp or canvas here in hawaii they only last a year because the weather (sun and wind) are pretty brutal. im jealous too because my mango tree is a lot smaller. :(

Was a crazy year for mangoes here. Great tip on the carpet, thanks! Got a new video coming out soon where we do a solar install on this boat. Stay tuned ;-)

I’m ready to ditch my poly tarp but still not sold yet on the canvas. How’s it holding up after 6+ months with the Florida sun? Any mildew?

So far the fabric is strong and holding up well. A little bit of discoloration in spots from the heavy rains, but overall we’re very pleased!

Status update! We just came out of "mango season" here in Miami and the cover took a solid beating from our mango tree. There was noticeable mildew on the fabric after a few weeks of heavy rain with constant mangos dropping on it. Took it off a few days ago and power-washed it...much of the staining came off and it's in much better shape now.
