Like always nice, solid tying. Always gives me inspiration to tie something new. Davie, I think I'm not the only one, but I'm looking forward to a book of you. Like your 25 favorites maybe? Tight lines 🎣 from the Čech Republic 🇨🇿.
Thank you thank you thank you. My one complaint about FM hooks was the lack of small sizes. Now I know I have to ask the online stores I buy from to carry the smaller sizes. Are 20-24 or smaller also available in the grab gape and Czech nymph styles? So excited!
Hi Michael, I have attached a link to the Fulling Mill barbless hooks for you to check out and I have to be honest I have not had a good chance to look through all of them and to compare the sizes to the hooks I have been tying with..I am blown away with their selection now especially the smaller sizes like yourself so I'm looking forward to tying with them over the winter months to see how they look with the patterns I tye. All the very best Davie www.fullingmill.co.uk/Products-UK/Trout-Barbless
Hi Brian, It's a bit bigger than a standard size 24 as you said very much like many of these styles of hooks, I would say it's more like a 16... All the very best Davie
I love these little patterns. My question is on hook size when you say it is a size 24 but it is a 2X wide why don’t we just call it a size 22 then. There does not seem to be an official measurements of what a size is. For example on a size 16 fly there is no official dimension what the hook gap should be. From each manufacturer there’s big differences between sizes. I would love to see a video just on this topic. Thanks I love your videos.
Hi Over the hill and Over the mountain, I agree with you when it comes to sizes, if we used the standard size chart then many of these hooks would be a couple of sizes bigger..I have copied and pasted the info on the hook I used in the video from Fulling Mills site for you to see...I have a few hooks from other companies as well and they do have their own idea of what the hook size should be so all I do is use my own eye and size them to suit the patterns I want to tye.. All the very best Davie A short shank wide gape jig hook. Suitable for tying all styles of “Euro Nymph” jig flies but with the added benefit of extra gape for increased fish hooking power. Ideal for slotted beads, sizes 2mm - 5.5mm. 45 Degree Eye, Horizontal Eye, Forged, 2X Wide, 2X Short , Claw Point, Black Nickel
Dang….that size is not too easy to keep good thread tension and keep good proportions. Also some good readers👍🏻😁🤓Well done Sir and Happy Seasons to you and fam✌🏻😎

A size 24 in this style of hook does not look same as 24 dry fly. Is that right?
Thx for the video, Davey

What UV resin do you use, please?
Not understanding the size, 24 is really small, what gives?
