This was one of my dream cars , me and my wife purchased it in December from Maple Motors and it is a great car I drive it as much as possible, it lives in Dade City , Florida now , I did fix the brakes and it needed some new brake lines and some wheel bearings , I also fixed all the lights and some wiring that was not correct and replaced the tires .. put some new door badges and got the trim put on the rear window .. next is to purchase some replacement bumpers front and back .. I see everyone saying the motor sounds weird but that is just the drive gear that makes all that noise in the front .. also I did all the vin research and it is a 68 roadrunner not a clone it was originally a 383 automatic car but it was restored in 91 by the original owner and they put in the 440 magnum with the Tremec 5 speed .. I will continue to love and care for this car till I die .. she sits in my car port and I take her to the local car shows and everyone always compliments me on how nice it is ..
Doesn’t sound like a 35k car and definitely not a gem
B5 Blue bought from my buddy in KS, drove it back to Jax (Navy boy) 2 tickets over 80mph's in the same damn day!
I have a feeling the 440 in this car is from a RV or truck, cam and idle sound too stock for a '68 HP motor. Car is in great condition though, especially underneath.
Probably cause it has a gear drive in it .
Yup probably around 275hp, 400 lb ft of torque.
You are probably right , That road runner not worth much
I can almost promise you its from something else, yes it's beautiful but if it was all original they would probably be asking closer to $40,000 for it.
@@johnferreira2044 dude, it’s still a fricn road runner!! The engine can be swapped out with a date code correct engine really easy. Basket case road runners are bringing up to $20k depending upon options it came with. It’s worth every penny what he’s asking. I’ve had several of them over the years
Great looking car and for a mopar, it's priced great. I don't know if it's your mic or what, but it really sounded horrible for a 440 for the entire video. Not bad from the exhaust end, but something was making a racket up front that didn't sound right. 5 speed threw me. More info on that just cause it's obviously not factory might be useful.
Like your honesty. Never loose that. I'm guessing that's your bread and butter.
Its got gear drive timing
That gear drive would drive me crazy.
I bought this car and yes the gear drive is noisy probably gonna be changed out because I like to hear the exhaust ..
@@michaelcecil3570 Congrats on getting the RR. I was a teenager in the early 80's and friend of mine Dad had several Mopars and i got to drive them.. They had a demon they put a 383 in, that was a fun ride.
Love it! Had one brand new in January of 1969. Same color (of course a 383) and an automatic.Really nice
Wow.
What happened to the flywheel cover? It should silence that whine.
The motor has a whining sound ?
no flywheel cover
Oh man 68-69 Roadrunner is perfection for me, it’s my dream car.
Lord. This car is gonna be gone in a day. Such a beautiful car. Roadrunners are the best
That green and black is such a great look for this ride!, Not to mention that it has a 440 under the hood. I H8 being so broke!. I can't tell you how many of these cars I would love to buy.. Thanks anyway Nick for sharing these beauty's with us and I don't see this sitting long on the lot even if it's winter. Hope all is well with the Maple Motors family and I can't wait to see what you post next. 🙏🙏
Even this car gonna be sold. Looks so gorgeous.
I’ll bet somebody said that’s the power steering pump - 😂 - nope, it’s the gear drive. Love this one but it’s more than I can afford.
Different, but still super cool! Thank you sir for sharing your biz & adventures every week. Always look forward to what's up next.
That’s how a man’s car should look!!! I said it before I’m a Chevy guy but I could make an exception on this beast!!! 👍🏻👍🏻
@@lindarosbrook843 true that 👍🏻😎
Looks like the one my uncle had, but was maroon color, took me out all the time in it, awesome memories
Nice condition driver and a very fair price. Seems like a real good deal. Definitely something wrong with the drivetrain. I have a 69 GTX and it doesn't sound anything like that. Since you don't have a power steering pump I'd worry about the other possible sources of that noise! But still a good deal regardless.
Gear drive
Color really pops 😍
Nice street racer setup with that short throw clutch. Brake issue probably just need both front brake hoses replaced. Rear trans seal and a few minor other things and you'll have a car that only goes up in value. This will sell quick.
A friend of mine in HS had a 68 Road runner with a 383 and a Hurst 4 speed. (factory?) Loved that car.
Had a wreck into a tree in 1968 going 140 mph took years to get right
Yra that 440 doesn't sound angry enough but want to say lost phone few years ago n recently remembered this site ,it a no nonsense straight forward shop with some great deals, keep it up.wish he would mash that throttle through 3 gears to see if she's right
Always something new to enjoy, Happy New Year!
Rims look amazing 👏
love roadrunners. This brings back memories for sure. Not bad for what it is. Needs work and a few bits and pieces. 440 was not available in 1968.
💚 Awesome 1968 Roadrunner.... love it Nick! 💚
Sounds like, a gear drive timing set.
Do You think that is the “whining”? It’s evidently not PS, don’t seem to be the alternator as there seemed to be no change when Nick turned the lights on. Seems way too loud for gear drive timing to me. Interesting!
The car has a gear drive and a brand new tko 600 trans
@@brianw8963 You can buy, quiet or noisy hear drive sets. Some people, like the loud sets.
Well thank You CW, did not know that!
Gear drive your right ? Dont like it makes it sounds like a whining automatic
used to own a 1970 roadrunner with a 383
What a simple yet cool idea for showing the undercarriage by driving over your phone camera! Very Nice!
Very beautiful amazing car beautiful colours thanks Nick
Evening Nick Southgate Of Maple Motors
Man Nick I'm in Mopar heaven this week! Very nice Road Runner!!!
Love 💘 the tinted windows 😍
Carro maravilhoso está perfeito, sempre ansioso para ver os novos vídeos, parabéns pelos carros.e feliz ano novo.....
Now that's a nice car it's a pretty color too. If it's not a Chevy the Roadrunner is the next best thing
Nice road runner 👍
Hi Nick and Family from here in the D Michigan hey Thanks for sharing this 68 ; 440 ❤✌ hey I am a Chevy Man but I love the 440 because it's Green 😁😎😇😳
Thanks 👍
Just gonna say yes on this horn.
Good looking Roadrunner. They did the manual swap nicely! 5 speed to modernize it was a good choice and the pistol grip for the period correct look just puts it over the top.
automatic column
@@mcmoolah tbh, that's the only way, that gave it away
Pistol grip was not available until 70 also 440 was not available in 68 or 69 only the 691/2 6 pac 440 A-12 cars were.
@@normanjones5167 ok then brand correct and the 440 was an option in 66
@@normanjones5167 Your exactly right...the GTX had 440 with automatic/console, i had a 69...i loved that car...Roadrunners ran a 383
the noise is a gear drive timing chain
yes...this 440 probably isn't a commando or magnum...roadrunners had 383 on the column and had power steering...never seen the stripe on a RR except, similar to the Daytona Superbird...i would not pay 34,900 for this car
It's a magnum you can tell by the exhaust manifolds
Nice RR want last long. They never go cheap price no more.
It's a damn good looking car brings back all the fear I had when David asked if I want Ed a rude bias plys n that thing moved all over the road from expansion joints all going over a buck on route 1 in RI oh the good Ole days
Sounds odd....gear drive idk? Flywheel cover missing. Automatic car originally?
Under in slow mo, sounds like a submarine lol
given a choice, Buy a Newer Challenger
Horn!? hell yes!
This is the video I was waiting for!
Big block Mopar at Maple Motors!
Wonder if that noise is because of something wrong with the 5 speed conversion?
The horn has to work!📢📢📢
Nice. 68s are great.
Love the color cool car thumbs up
Very nice Road Runner!!!
Thank you 👍
I love roadrunners
That car is worth 30 grand all day long specially it being a big block straight shift car
She's a beautiful Mopar Nick.😁👍 can't go wrong with a 440.
You might wanna take your test drives like late morning mid afternoon and get rid of the sun glare. Like when the suns higher in the sky!
That's just the nature of winter time. I'm sure he's too busy to just film one car early in the am and another late evening lol.
Nick, takes test drives, all day long.
Yeah it’s mainly the tint on this car messing with the camera. Yes I have to record at all times of the day to keep up with demand
9 p.m., 1/4 /22...........haven't started watching video yet...........already sold
That crazy green carpet in the trunk needs to go too lol. Put some black in there if anything. Not long mat like that either though.
That's a yes on the horn! 😎😉😎
Horns work 90% of the time if the steering wheel is original! 🎊 💯 🎊
Beautiful car but that motor has a strange whine to it.
Can't hear the engine over the fan alternator lol!
Sweet ride
Nice road runner sounds like it has a gear drive timeing gear.
I’ll take gears over a timing belt any day!
Beep beep and you Are gone, Willy e cant catch this baby, thanks Nick great video stay cool 😎
Sweet
My dream car
Needs some cheese 🧀 to go with that whine
I like the wheels
That Road Runner was born an automatic judging from the PRND21 plate on the top of the steering wheel. The whine from the transmission also would have me worried about what's going on inside. Replacing the tranny would probably cost several thousand dollars. Nice looking muscle car but somebody's done major surgery on it.
I was wondering about that whine too surprised you only only to bring it up.
Are we sure it isn’t a gear drive? Just wondering
Always liked these. ..
This is a great looking car it remains me of the movie Gator had a 440 all souped up beautiful,, my mistake it was a Ford Galaxy 500 hundred and five gears on the floor that car can fly 🚘
Beautiful
Very nice Road Runner sounds good is that a gear drive too.
VERY NICE car !! Wow! she has ALOT of power and haha shes a standard too!
Not really a Mopar guy but that one is nice.
not my fav......but i'd take it but wrestling that 440 around a corner without PS would get old
Someone mention Roadrunner?
The 68 Road Runner only came with a 383 or a hemi nor a 5 speed so you are getting a hybrid vehicle which does nothing for me. For those that like it, fine. But original is what I like. In a similar vien, only Dodge's had six packs, Plymouth had a six barrel. When I see people referring to Pymouth's with six packs I know that they don't what they are talking about.
Bad Azz car. Horn sounded like the roadrunner.
That's odd to have stripes going both ways. I'd take those rear ones off. It should have gone across the trunk lid too if they were gunna run those things. They should of but two down the trunk to match the front instead of doing that.
FYI, In 69 the stripes were only on the hood.
1968 R.R.'s had no stripes. Perhaps pinstripes, usually dealer installed.
@@torrebergey25 Yeah there's no doubt it's not factory. That's ok with me. I'm all for customizing. The mismatched stripe direction combo he has going on here doesn't work. I don't like those rear stripes. I think he should of just carried the front theme to the back, myself.
If he was going to go with those rear, then no strips on the hood would work, but they're still not attractive rear stripes.
That engine noise kills it ,other than that nice looking mopar.
Nice bird was it automatic transmission one time and does she have gear drive
Mopar 💙
Need to check alternator according to gauge otherwise nice car very straight
Maaaan, that is one HOT looking boat, hotdang 🔥
Seats 💺 look incredible 😍
Meep meep
Nice looking Road Runner, sounds good 👍
That’s the shit !!!! Great ride
Her name is Gina she looks good and fast
I see it an Original 3 speed automatic column shifter
Had a gear drive in my Chevelle and got rid of it. Chain is better.
Meep meep! Mean Mopar...
Nice car why does it sound strange like it whines or something ?
what is all that winding noise from the engine?
Gear drive
