Not much work to be done as I host a couple of friends for some wilderness adventure. Heavy rains lead to some interesting days. I find a 'treasure' floating in the river. My boat is a trial in patience. Life goes on. Never a dull day and each week seems to be filled with something memerable out in these parts. Glad you made it to Ep 29 ! Thanks for making the journey with Cabin River Outdoors - Shawn. #cabin #homesteading #wilderness

Great timing, binge watched all your last 28 episodes over the weekend. Awesome channel mate, love how raw and real your episodes have been, the boat issues, torn between accepting support/$$ from strangers etc. Continue to do what you need to survive, just don't do the click bait headlines etc, puts people off straight away. Anyway really enjoying following along your journey with you all the way from New Zealand. Cheers
Hes great viewing alright. Sort of done the same found him and just watched over a few days .(stop thinking i have hard days now)
Good morning from Germany, right now i think this is the only realistic outdoor building channel. i have never seen anyone struggle like that with so many different things... makes a difference how i percieve now the great outdoors :) keep on it!!
Fully agree 👍
... Jawohl ! ... kann ich unterschreiben ... Voila ! ... er ist ein ... " Glücks-Pilz-Teufels-Braten " ...
Soon to be the “Great White North” cause of the snow we are going to see soon.
Want to see some old school Canadiana pop culture, UA-cam ‘Bob and Doug McKenzie’. Funny as heck this was filmed in Edmonton Alberta where I grew up as a preteen.
Good job with the sponsored section. Next time will go a bit quicker and the next one even more.
Had my weekly dose of Shawn again 😊
Keep moving forward!! You got this!!
Sean you need to "Borrow" the boat winch next door and set up a proper boat ramp that's why the old timer had it. At any time a floating tree can take it.
I agree. Got to make it so you can winch the boat out of the water a little. Make a log boat ramp to slide the boat up. Love the show.
Congratulations on another rescue, you're actually a pretty thick skinned fella a lot of lesser mortals would have quit by now, I can see how much you have grown on this journey and wish you success, from down under(tasmania, Australia)
Get a climbing tree stand and put that starlink as high as you can.
Even if you have to top the tree.
I agree because I've seen that work on other channels. Plus couldn't the distance from the starlink to the laptop could be a factor?
He has open access and doesn't need to do that. And that's not going to help the situation to start with. There's a week signal from the satellite s in that area
Yes he doesn’t need to do that however. By putting it high in a tree would do two things, one no need to run across the river to push buttons and set things up. Two He wouldn’t need to drag the battery back and forth to charge with the generator for when the solar panel can’t keep up.only two things need to be out of reach in the tree solar panel and antenna. The battery and router could be on a platform 6 to 10 feet of the ground. Ideally it would be in a tree near either of the cabins and he could put router and battery inside.
Tree stand is an excellent way to mitigate the danger in climbing and topping a tree.
Good morning from England. I look forward to all your video’s. Thank you!
I have watched your channel right from the very start when we had to wait a while between videos and I am really enjoying the weekly updates. You have gained so much momentum since going full time. Well Done. Best Wishes from Scotland, UK. Stay Safe.
Your videos are the absolute best thing on UA-cam right now. I can’t even put into words how much I’m enjoying watching you survive out there in the wilderness. And wow, what a fantastic boat rescue! Well done Shawn!!!
So happy that Tufte and AG1 are sponsoring you.
... Yeah ! ... GREAT entertainment !!! ... better than .. " Fort Boyard " .. or .. What-ever is on TV out there ... Voila ! ... don't have TV anyway !!! ...
agreed
Sure is great viewing .So much so finding it hard to watch other channels i love Now that ive found this one
Agree.
Shawn our admiration for you grows with every video. You have such strong conviction & perseverance. You are an amazing fellow. All the best from Perth Western Australia.
Shawn, you're one tough dude, a modern day pioneer. There's no one else like you on UA-cam. Look at all these comments from people all over the world 🌎 It's inspiring.... top of the morning to you, from Virginia!
Hi Shawn, It might be worthwhile putting a PO Box address in your channel description so people can help you out if they’re so inclined.
100% agree. Please do it!!!
YES!! please

Man you need a drone for so many different reasons. Love the videos . One of my favourite channels at the moment.
Send him one you know he's a man on a budget.. you would definitely see one happy camper he'd be jumping up and down for joy😊
@@babydoll9282 his on that sponsorship money now 😁 he can afford it 😉
That swim you took to get to your boat had my toes curled for you, what a shit storm. I don't think that you are wrong about getting the trail done, but that's another huge challenge. The boat is scary though, one little problem and you're in trouble. 👍
A river is very challenging. Awesome to have pals out. Your videos are top notch. Thank you, Shawn. 👍😎🇨🇦🌊🔥
Good morning from Norway (Tufte land... hehe). God bless, stay say. Take care of your back.
YOU COME FIRST SHAWN ...Don't risk YOUR LIFE in that RIVER if you have doubts..🥺
Morning Shawn, your channel and Wild Homestead are 2 of my favs to see pop up in my notifications these days, you must be doing something right cos I even seen one of those stupid vids trying to say “this is how much this UA-camr makes”, with your channel, lol
I saw that too !!!
... Yeah ! ... I did make comment on it ! .. question how much HE wiill make with vid's like that ??? ... Lol ! ... never answered me ! ...
That's crazy! Haha I had no idea there was a video out there like that. I need to find it
The river giveth and the river taketh... You were lucky the boat got snagged so close. And you were right not to swim for it, from both sides. Amazing the boat was still there when you came back with the rope and hook, well done.
... Yeah ! ... first idea of mine was .. " a Lasso " !!! .. to catch it with .. like the Cowboys doin' it ! ... and than he came up with an anchor !!! ... Voila ! ... very good idea ! ... like those pirates from .. Caribean Islands .. enter the boats to robb them ...
Watching from Hurricane ravaged Western North Carolina - where many are temporarily off grid. Prayers for my area!!!!
Great video and high drama with the boat. Video editing keeps getting better. Hang in there!!!
That storm even touched us here in wv
@@djt8518 hope all ends well for the great people in WV !!!

Great great rescue of your boat, just being in that constant dilemma of transport, you will find a way because it is those situations that will give you hope, strength, the will to carry on. Work safely n be mindful its the power of one. You!
I'm in my 70s but i remember my Dad telling me that "tough times and adversity builds Charachter and an inner strength that will see you through even tougher times"...he was right too. All the best mate...keep going. 👍➡️🇬🇧
that boat hey...?
so glad you managed to rescue it and not get swept away.
maybe time to string that cable across the river and make a good road to a landing on the other side...?
drop the cable on the bottom of the river when not needed.
I know adversity is a drag Shawn..
but it makes unreal content.
just stay healthy and alive.
Good morning from Guthrie Oklahoma. It’s 3am watching Cabin River Outdoors.
I wish some rich person would buy you a new boat
No he should be clearing for his road this whole time.
@@stevenlake5278 ... NO ! ... none of this !!! ... he just need to learn how to tie the boot properly .. so the river can't take it away all the time ... Voila ! ... is already second time around .. when that river did take his boat away ...
@@WeesdaGaiaI'm really rooting for him but the unforced errors are growing. Patch the dinghy and get a couple of paddles already.
May need to buy a few of them :)
You need 2 logs as a ramp then a come along to winch it out of the water then gravity to slide back down
There’s a boat winch down at the underground camp
Hello Sir
I think you stay better in a Town then in the Bush that's safer for you.
@@suchoi61 ... Lol ! ... " that's safer for YOU " !!! .. to stay better in Town .. " than in the Bush " ... Voila ! ... of course YOU wouldn't make it out there ...
Omg Shawn, wow im sorry about that damn boat, high five for retrieving it
Awesome. I was hoping for this episode soon. Just keep doing what you’re doing Shawn and take care mate.
Had to edit this because I’ve now watched it. I tip my hat to you. Respect 👍🏻
Hello Shawn..what a wonderful surprise to see your video ❤
The league for homesteading could be called The Bushleague......I'll show myself out...
Haha. Perfect name for that league
Hey Shawn from Australia 🇦🇺
I feel so wet after this episode. You are so strong I can’t keep up with you. Some of the scenery is so spectacular.
God bless you mate 🙏
Naughty boat ☹️ I’ve got a name for the boat ready call it (pain in the ass)😂
... or maybe ... " Boat my Ass " ... Yeah ! ...
PITA for short! That’s what we say in the office! 😂
Good morning from the God forsaken state of Illinois. I'm with you dude on your adventures; always on my seat, but know you can get it done. 👍👍. All the best and love your channel. Cheers aye.🚤💚🙏🍻
Smart move not going for it. Get pinned up and it's Cabin River Adios😂 and then I'll have to watch subpar channels 👎 Another great episode sir!! Thanks from Virginia!!
Thank God that you have a strong enough self preservation instinct! I am sure that is one of the most important things for the kind of life you are living. My father used to say: "If you can't make it with your body- use your head." And that is exactly what you did 🙂 You are outstanding, and so are your videos!
Definitely make a timber slide/birth to keep it out of the water.
Love this show, just keeps getting better.🇦🇺
I'm sure your supporters on YT will be happy to chip in to get a decent road to your cabin
G'day from Kyneton Australia 🦘👍🇦🇺
Congrats on the sponsorship and that boat situation was a nail biter. Glad you're ok. As a pg girl hearing you cheer for the Spruce Kings made me smile. Amazing how far you've come.
Looking forward to this video.
Nice to see you have a friend to give you a helping hand.
Xx
Keep up the reality of living so far off the beaten path. Best channel on UA-cam. Not knocking the others , but they can drive to their property and seem to come from money.
Love your raw pursuit of freedom. Tough go out there for sure
This is literally my favorite channel on UA-cam. I feel your pain and frustration with that boat. I am cursed when it comes to anything small engine. I was on a river once and mine died and I helplessly floated straight into a bush and a poisonous snake fell in the boat. I pulled out a gun and started to shoot it in the boat like a dummy. I ended up flipping it out with a fishing pole 😂 good times. I hope your boat luck turns around soon!
That's frikken hilarious, pity you didn't get a video of it.
That was an epic boat saving mission.
I like your channel!!! 😊
Man your boat struggle reminds me so much of my Astrovan. Just constant maintenance going on lol. Good luck Shawn!
One of your best yet, really do look forward to your vids, ps you need a solar sponsor/upgrade mate, it will be a game changer! Regards
Stick in Shawn, if it was easy everyone would be doing it and there would be no wilderness like what you;ve got. Just remember to make the right decision when faced with a problem like retrieving your boat from the fast current!! and that decision is "The Safe One"" All the best. Shawn STAY SAFE,
I have been watching your channel since the beginning, most every episode I think is fantastic. This one truly was my favorite so far. I love your attitude even when everything seems to be against you. Love your channel
You have a die hard fan with me.
Hi Shawn 👋 I am loving your series, watching from NZ 😊
Ditto 😊
Goodmorning from the uk 🇬🇧 it was nice to see your friends with you. You need to get the other door on soon and get your stove sorted for your heat source you are going to need it soon. Your getting there step by step maybe put another tarp up joing underneath the roof one coming down over the side so it keeps more rain out of your cooking area. 🎉🎉🎉
that river scene was intense, glad you are safe
Starting from Scratch is very amazing . . your work is grate
Awesome Always Brother!!!
Geeze, I feel your pain though with the boat & river stress.
But you remain resilient & strong while conquering the tasks at hand.
Also, the hurdles that you face each day are what continue to teach you & make you even stronger!!!
Way to go brother.
Thank You, see ya next week.
Play Safe out there.
🦅❤️💪🏾🙏🏾🪶🤗✨
SO glad you are getting your Winter wood !
I didn't think anybody had as luck as I do but you are right there with me!!!
Welcome to the Homesteading league!
I couldn’t believe that your boat got hit by the log. I was praying for you Shawn, that you would find it. Of course, it’s way after the fact 😅.
Moge from the Netherlands !!
It’s only 0110 in the morning here in New Mexico. It’s great to have friends come help and visit. Bull trout is a rarity in most places down here in the States.
Wow, some awesome reading to do. Love those types of books, a bit of knowledge and history.👍
I would like to live like that, but my wife does not😉 Keep up the good work. Greetings from Holland
Morning from south africa thku for all y trouble to get videos out to us😊
Thanks for the videos!! I like your humor but moreso I just like you are authenticity yourself, complaining or not, you come across genuine and that's what keeps me watching. Keep it up!!
I’m really REALLY glad you got that boat back safely! Smarter heads prevail and live to think again. I could feel that urge to just hop out up stream you will be fine. Super glad you didn’t. Looked like a great time with friends. Definitely a much needed rest. Now if only a ribbed inflatable company and say mercury or Yamaha wanted to show their durability tested properly 😊❤
So happy you got your boat! but it was only because of your ingenuity! I'm an 84 year old woman in Maine USA and can't wait for your videos. Their show your true character. Never give up.
G'day Shawn, Afternoon everyone from Norfolk Island Australia 🇳🇫🦈

Glad you are OK and it was just tech issues. So good to see you with your friends.
You need to get a crank like they use on a trailer and attach that to a big tree and make yourself a ramp that you can crank it up the bank to keep it safe.

Hi Shaun from Northland, New Zealand.
Well, this episode was well worth waiting for. The boat rescue was heart stopping- i held my breath when you pulled it in, glad it didn't pull you in. You get tougher by the episode and you were no pussy when you started- your bona fides in the guts & persistence department already proven. Am really rootin' for you, Shawn.
I was like “not again! Holding my breath as well
If the boat doesn’t start after 6 pulls disconnect the fuel any more then that you are flooding it after 6 pulls you can pull the plugs to see if they are soaked in fuel tip for what you are doing a four stroke would be a better option I’m from US down in swamp country in Louisiana we use boats a lot I have 2 and went to four stroke I won’t go back to 2 stroke four stroke is better for carrying loads and they are much easier to start when it’s cold and will out last a 2 stroke without having to work on them now the trade off is they are a little heavier and have to do oil change in them but I found out I’m not rebuilding them and love not having to mix oil and gas love your videos keep up the good work and just look into a 4 stroke outboard
Morning from Portugal 🇵🇹. Hi 😃 wow new video 🎉
Hockey in the woods eh! Perfect! your ad work was hilarious, reading the words for the ad but it's all in keeping it natural. too funny, I'd like to visit from Vancouver island in my Sprinter Van, that's my homestead haha
Mate…… so glad you did not risk your life for that damn, bloody boat! On my edge of seat watching, great outcome! Cheers from West Australia, where we do not have snow……. thank goodness 😂😂
Kudos on your perseverance but you need to use a Hawser to secure that boat. Make a boat ramp that is not susceptible to rising water and or dramatic influence from rains or inferior tie down points!
Hello from Idaho, usa. You are the man. I was on the edge of my chair a couple of times through this one. Glad to see the commercials. Yep, have to work smarter than harder. Proud of you my man.....................
... Yeah ! ... this is real funny ! .. of course I don't like commercials .. at ALL at ALL !!! ... Voila ! ... but when he did speak about this .. AG1 .. stuff ! ... I was thinkin' about give it a try ! ... just for give him a little helpin' hand ... at least .. I rather stick to my personal breakfast-mixture .. out of Lemon-Juice & Honey .. plus Vitamin C carbon-tablet & French-Vichy-Water ...
Good morning from Alabama (roll tide) enjoy the videos.
a straight pipe is far superior to a pair of 90 ° angles, where creosote will deposit. you still have crud in your carb float bowl. Snow is your friend, regarding firewood, load a toboggan.
Maybe the boat winch on the post is a good idea!
... Yeah ! ... for SURE !!! ... to tie the Boat properly ... Voila ! ... so good ! .. that even .. " Mr. Bear " .. can't take it for a ride no more ...
AG1 very good sponsor
Great video Shawn
Great video! Glad you got the boat back safely. Don't give up on her. She is getting to know you as you are her.
The struggle is real!!!! Yeah you got the grit, it shows. Can see the frustration bit the beauty as well. Love watching!!!
By far the best channel on UA-cam. Penticton B.C. 🇨🇦 is watching…
Looks like your boat motor is running to rich. The indicator is the black soot on the plugs and fouled plugs. Could also be to much or wrong 2 stroke oil
Hi there, enjoying your videos but being more disciplined with yourself in that enviroment will put a stop to some problems you seem to be having. The darkness of night and water are not good combinations, sleep in the car if getting dark and go again in the morning. One day your luck will run out, i hope not but please make good decisions regarding your safety.
Well said, stay safe Shawn!
Ok over 44 thousand subs, incredible, 🎉
Oh no AG1 😢 they’ve got all my favourite tubers now, if you do a little research on them, they are nothing but a scam, the owner has a very sketchy background, doesn’t actually provide any health benefits, took advantage of the lax rules on supplements in US
Hi Shawn, I can’t believe you had to rescue the boat again. I’m sorry you had to go through that. I’m glad you and the boat are safe. Stupid question, is there anyway of possibly burying an 8 foot, 6x6 timber so maybe 3 ft is sticking out of the ground higher on shore? Then attaching a boat wench with steel cable to the timber to pull the boat into shore out of the current. Too bad you can’t actually dig a small launch right there at the cabin site to store the boat half on land when not in use.
Another fantastic video! We're about 9 hours west of you on our own 40 acres and I finish doing my chores and then come in to watch you do yours. 😃
Greetings again from Bulgaria…. You really haven’t had it easy with boat trouble… but realistic content indeed and as I wrote before… no bullshit… good viewing all the time….
Well done on retrieving your boat. Enormous tenacity!
Awesome for you to have had friends over, human contact. I'm sure your spirit was lifted.
Isn't that the way it always is, as soon as there's a problem there's no one else around to help you! I think you've learned some valuable lessons in this video. Keep up the good work and we'll look forward to the next one!! Frank--- Alberta, Canada

I bet it was nice having friends over. You worked really hard to get that place visitor ready! That boat!! Its name should be The Runaway! I think you were smart to be careful getting it back.
