Respect for all those involved in this dangerous work. Its so easy to forget that in 2024 when cheap sound bites drown out an industry that helped this country get back on its feet. It also brought 1000s of skilled jobs to Northern Scotland. Respect!
As a service hand for a third party services company (tubular running) i worked on the Brent field platforms many times in the 80's.... Was wild at times :-)
@@mackenzierough The Esso 'Tiger' TV advert music was composed by Jeff Wayne. It was supplied to the film makers by MCann Erickson (London office). Other music is from music production libraries, eg; Bruton. The 'archive' music is the 'Trish, Trash Polka'. I don't know the composer.
16mm optical Soundtrack I bet?... I was the Sound Recordist and Sound Editor on this production. All was 'mute' apart from the vox pops and David Rees. There would have several prints made and a few other Cresswell Film Unit productions are in the BFI. As far as I know the company no longer exists.

Auk platform built in 1974 is still producing and cessation of production is 2033. If so 58 years.

Where did you find this film?
Shame it's a bit scratchy - but not surprising given it's age.
I bought it from a camera shop in Rochester, Kent, England!
