I love all the artists who did the recent covers, but the old style IS fantasy for me. Covers play a HUGE part in drawing readers to the genre. So, I agree: the old design is better even if the newer illustrations sometimes make more sense.

Awesome collection Brotha. I am a die hard fan of The Wheel of Time too. However, there is one novel you are missing in your RJ collection and that is “Warrior of the Altaii.” While not as complex as WoT, it’s still an epic and fun standalone Conan-esque story

As always, I'm totally impressed by the collection! I have the first of the Conan omnibuses and need to pick up the second one. Also, you should pick up Jordan's Warrior of the Altaii - I read it earlier this year and really enjoyed it. It totally gave me Conan/Sword and Sorcery vibes. You'd love it!
I once found ALL the Wheel of Time books in 1st edition paperback [including "New Spring"] at a store for like 40 bucks for the whole collection! I'd never read any of them, but I'd heard that GRR Martin was inspired to write his "Ice and Fire" books by Robert Jordan's fantasy series , so I bought the entire series- just based on how the cover art is so sterotypically "80-90s fantasy fiction" -but I don't know if it makes me shallow LOL. Literally judging a book by it's cover...
Discovered conan novels while I was in infantry school it was all they really had on base my friends used to make fun for bringing books out training but sometimes gets boring
Im a sucker for art on books with landscapes or castles in the background. It is an immediate portal to a time or land I would wanna be in regardless if life was brutal or a joy to live in that world. When I browse used bookstores and come across unknown authors with those covers, I’m tempted to buy it even if the story might not be good.
Thanks for re-doing this one. What a collection ... I prefer the newer paintings overall ... Speaking of fantasy art, there's a very expensive new edition of The Dragonbone Chair by Grimoaks Press. Do you have it? Would love to see a review. The cover art looks cool, and I guess there's more inside!
I own these all on kindle and audible. But I'm thinking of buying the trade paperbacks just for my bookshelves. I tried to buy them as a set but they're like $500 so I guess I'll get them a few at a time.
I just started reading the wheel of time(just finished eye of the world). I wish you showed the inside of the different versions. Is it just the same other than word count per page or is there a difference?
