Good advice. I use WD-40 mostly, never tried Ballistol. A chroming shop was the worst place I ever took my tools into, chemical environment would make a right mess of handles and metal.

You are smart , cleanliness is very important ( a good tech , will clean his hands more often than some Doctors . Clean Clothes also matter , I had to clean up after a “ Tech” , made a Resi. Call , after an industrial call , left ass prints all over a living room . I was able to resolve the issue with very dilute “ Spic an Span “ in warm water !

I like to use Houdini to clean my tools. They used to carry at Lowes but my local locksmith carries it at a cheaper price.

If you use something like Ballistol then your tools will never get rusty

Not a fan of WD , as the name implies , it’s largely intended for water displacement . I use Lucas CLP , and or Boeshield ( developed for Aviation Tech’s tools ) , good for outside work !

You should make a video on the best gloves, I personally have run through a dozen brands and have yet to find something that checks all the boxes.

If its just steel no paint i derust with naval jelly, then if theres no handle i put them into oven 500f then dip in oil or wax but if its like pliers or screw drivers then just heated wax in a rag works good

You seem like a person with a fairly relaxed disposition, but imagine being OCD (maybe you are)... with me and the few tools I possess, I'm frequently dealing with a mental high tension scenario. For instance, say with my Kirby vacuum cleaner, I just found a spot under the bathroom sink where mice were getting in. Of course, they're FERAL animals (🤣). Like sheep, they just walk around doing their thing, "exuding" tiny pellets as they go. They could be chewing, socializing, breathing, thinking, it doesn't matter - anytime to drop off digested food-waste is PRIME. So anyway, I have to vacuum up the mouse-mess, and with said action, my mind starts thinking: "Did I get ALL the mouse 'leavings', how much did I miss, what do they contain... microscopically, there's probably bits on the end of the Kirby vacuum nozzle, so I must clean that off with alcohol before I touch it to anything else..." Same with whatever tools I use. I clean my tools off after every use so as not to cross-contaminate anything. I don't want mouse doo-doo or any other respective THREAT soiling sacred surfaces. The tools I use on my guitars are separate and dedicated JUST for their specific use, as my music equipment is the "holy of holies." No one but me touches my sound equipment. Well, I let my kids play every once in a while, but the washing of hands and donning of clean clothes is required. 😂😎🤗

WD40 is definitely needed immediately after using your tools on any automotive or mechanical work its not a lubricant but a penetrating liquid for water/grime/grease/rust busting but after that I prefer something that is much much better than any 3-in-1 oil or Ballistol - I prefer to use Singer sewing machine lubricating oil - seriously its clear as water and non sticky just BINDS to any metal surface and a very thin coat and sheen lasts easily for a month completely non greasy - for handle cleaning I use LOC which is a degreaser then a very mild application of dielectric grease which rejuvenates and brightens any rubber/leather/plastic/Polyamide glass fiber material. try it and you will be amazed

I just take oil and lube all my tools and then set them on napkins to dry and then clean the handles with Gojo wipes or wet hands

Can’t say I have a great knowledge base for this. I haven’t had much of an issue with it yet. Most places I’ve worked have been greasy not dusty

How can I safely clean corrosion off the prongs of a power cord?

    • @aesaehttr
      @aesaehttr 2 роки тому +2

Removing any metal even if just to remove corrosion is against the law technically for a reason (fire 🔥) because of creating nucleation points for the voltage to create heat. Best to replace a cord that has gone this far. Not as difficult as it sounds.

Only thing about using Ballistol is that crap stinks horribly. Ballistol is essentially black licorice scented mineral oil. You can buy mineral oil for a LOT less money.
WD-40 is a good cleaner for the metal (getting off grease and other crud), but I just use a microfiber towel with some motor oil and wipe the metal down.
Tub O Towels works great on cleaning off the plastic handles.

Yeah I figured it was probably a different method not a lot o people use but he's my dad and I guess he's showing that method no worries we didn't get to it so we dodged a bullet there. I told him about your method with the wipes and oil and wd40 so we'll see how we clean them.

    Romans 6:23
For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
    Come to Jesus Christ today
Jesus Christ is only way to heaven
Repent and follow him today seek his heart Jesus Christ can fill the emptiness he can fill the void
Heaven and hell is real cone to the loving savior today
Today is the day of salvation tomorrow might be to late come to the loving savior today
    John 3:16-21
16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. 18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. 19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. 20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. 21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.
    Mark 1.15
15 And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.
    2 Peter 3:9
The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
    Hebrews 11:6
6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
    Jesus
