I like this, especially as Gloucester was my home city. I moved out when the city lost its purpose, when the massive farmers market closed down, the RAF personnel centre closed and 10,000 well paid manufacturing jobs disappeared from the Gloucester/Cheltenham area. I fail to see why Gloucester appears to be quite affluent.
Thankyou for this, but I was really looking forward to seeing King’s Square. When I was a child 50/60s it was the bus station and the department store all along one side - the Bon Marche - was a magical place, mind you, you could do a whole programme on King’s Square and it’s changes.
This is a very well done example of how many UK towns have been ruined by 20th century development. Such a shame, but it's still interesting to see what has been lost. Gloucester wasn't even that badly bombed during the war. It's post-war "improvement" schemes that have made it what it is today.

The fact that Gloucester Cathedral hasn't changed in 224 years shocks me. 😱
Excellent.

Yes, it would be great to see the changes to King's Square and Brunswick Road.
The 1970s remodelling was not kind to Gloucester.

Why the disappearance of public conveniences throughout the city do we piss less than Victorians, or is this just Gloucester the bladder capital!
