It is always a pleasure to watch your Professional video's Stephen.I really do Like Historical Gloucester that really reminds me of the Lincolnshire Town of also the very Historical and Herritage Town of Stamford. I really enjoyed your Mooch around this Beautiful City. It has got so many Good Old English Pubs and those Stunning Tudor Strle buildings around the City. The Regal as a Wetherspoons did look very Cosy and Inviting. Some lovely Sausages Chips and Beans with a Lovely mug of Coffee. Wetherspoons does seem to attract those out of the ordinary and Unique type of Patron it does, That has happened to me at The Stamford Post a while ago. I was just sitting down with my pint, and this old Woman came by and said can I join you, do you mind. Of course take a seat. Good to know you have been to Gloucester. I live in nearby Stroud, which is also a town of much history and is known for its magnificent views. Gloucester dates from Roman times - then known as Glevum. There is much Roman history here in the city. It is also worth visiting a few museums. Hope you make a return visit.
I stayed in Gloucester for a few days a couple of years ago. I found it really odd for such a big city. Very few people walking about and lack of traffic.
Hey, nice vid :) You just missed out on Gloucester Quays which is near southgate house (22:03), across the road. It's got places to eat and a shopping centre there if you ever go again. I believe the place you thought was the uni is the rest of the Gloucestershire council offices. There are two councils because one is for Gloucestershire - including Cheltenham and the other (Near the quays) is the one for the town. There is a uni campus in what used to be Debenhams, which is to your right when you leave spoons, The Other campus is about 25 mins walk from town and the rest are in Cheltenham. The spoons used to be a Cinema which is why it had King Kong and the carpet was film shaped patterned. Some good times in Gloucester :P
Nice Walk abt .Realy good to see Gloucester Council looking after the Special old Buildings .Have a walk around Swindon see what happens to The Lovely Buildings left for years derelict or knocked down .Saving these Buildings which give a City or Town Character .Thanks for showing
I didn't expect to see you in my neck of the woods! I've been watching your Blackpool videos for about 6 months and I always wondered what you'd think of somewhere like Gloucester and the river Severn. Glad you liked the place, despite it's dark history with the murders. I accidently found myself in Cromwell Street when I lived in Gloucester and it was very disturbing. I wonder what's it's like to live in that street now? Do you remember the flesh eating disease in 1994 that also put Gloucestershire in the headlines? I was scared of it spreading to nearby Wiltshire where I lived.
Hi Stephen loved this video what a lovely city and you brought us historic sights such great architectural buildings interesting information thanks for a good tour around even the bit at the end 👀 in that house!! take care and until next time Pauline from Blackpool living in Canada 🍁
I lived in Gloucester a few years back and the wests old house behind the shopping centre in Cromwell Road is eery to walk past, that alley way. Standing on a site where pure evil happened.
This is my home town. I wish I had known you were coming I would have said hello. You stumbled into the top of Barton Street the roughest part of town. Do you know Chris Lowe of the Pet Shop Boys, he is from Blackpool they are my favourite band. Very best wishes.
Brilliant video Stephen was worried for you in some of the areas a bit dodge. Loved all the comments telling us about the area too. Never been there,do learned a lot,the buildings looked great very old, cathedral looked good shame you couldn't go inside, love looking round them. Glad you're home safe from USA loved your vlogs, the eclipse was so amazing, your excitement made me laugh you certainly was in the right place. Stay safe Stephen thanks for this vlog, loved it see you on your next installment, bye for now 😊x
Yes, I went to 25 Cromwell St about a couple of years after the murders, no one was allowed on the grounds but it was knocked down a lot of years ago and has become a walkway
U would like Ledbury and Tewkesbury nearby, nicer than Gloucester, did you go to the docks? Anyway, will re subscribe next week, I'm the guy who sent u the old pound note lol. Hope you got back home from Texas safely. I'm coming to Blackpool start off August for a week and like to see the air shoe
Thanks for a great video Stephen, i live near Gloucester so i go now and again, i love the cathedral, and eat inside the cafe inside, called The monks kitchen. funnily enough yesterday i was wondering when you were gonna post this video, and here it is, spooky..... yes i have seen a few documentarys about the West murders, it looks a little creepy around that area cromwell street...
Nice walk about Gloucester Stephen, I’ve never been there myself but remember all that Fred & Rose West stuff. Isn’t it all a remembrance garden now or something? Cambridge also has a Wetherspoon called The Regal and they almost look similar the fact they were former old cinemas. A few beer monsters there in town. Some beautiful old buildings there too. Shame you couldn’t get your dedicated pint of Bass.
Some lovely old buildings there Stephen, there are two Wetherspoons in Gloucester, the Regal and the Lord High Constable of England which is located on the east side of the docks. You watch yourself after dark pal, especially with your cameras etc, lots of unsavoury people about after dark.
This was an interesting video, Stephen. Beautiful cathedral, Lots of interesting buildings. Watch out for those characters giving you the stare treatment though and be careful on those scooters. Enjoyed it very much!
I moved to Gloucester in 2009 and it’s come on in leaps and bounds in that time. It’s a beautiful city steeped in history but it always plays second fiddle to Cheltenham and like lots of places, not without its problems. When I moved to this area and my friends came to visit me, sadly the first thing they would mention and ask about is Cromwell Street. It’s a bit of an albatross around its neck. The Dick Whittington is a grade 1 listed building as is the Fleece Hotel, both sadly are sitting empty and unused. The derelict building with the red door used to be a nightclub.
Famous British Aero Engineer Sir Frank Whittle developed the Jet engine at Brockworth his achievements listed him as the 42nd famous Brit, knighted. The Romans made a mark on the area also with marching camps and connecing Road to Cheltenham. Theres an amazing mechanical clock with working figures above the jewelers 3 doors up from paddy power @ 22:57 .. my aunt elsie would show me around on my visits many years ago also Prinknash Abbey is a Gem of a place to look around also . 👍😎🏴🏴👍
Hello Stephen glad you are home just watched your video of glouster and Fred and rose west murders it didn't look to safe there looking forward to coming to Blackpool soon myt meet you ❤❤❤
The church has always been there it was next door to the house during the murders investigation. The house was demolished, and where the footpath is that you walked down , that is where the house stood .
Thank you very much for sharing your walk around Gloucester. I’ve never been there. There are some nice buildings. Hope that you have a good flight ✈️ home when you come back from the U.S.A. What date do you come back? 👍🥰❤️
Thank you for sharing. But you missed the best part. I wished you'd found The Docks. There's an awesome Weatherspoon there. TGIFridays. And lots of other great restaurants. Watching your video made me feel like I was right there again. And at the very end of your video just as you turned to leave 25 Cromwell street, our house could be seen over your right shoulder. I hope one day I'll get to visit Gloucester again. I enjoyed my time there.
My son was there with his friends. He sent me videos of them by the river's edge as the tide came up the river. It was amazing to see. Looking forward to see your next video. And the guy playing the Trumpet. I have a video of him. He was just outside the Primark in East Gate I think it's called. Your video was perfect! You really took me right back there. I felt like I was walking the streets again watching your video!❤
You certainly found it sir. Donkeys years ago my dad and grandad who are were in the building trade were working in Gloucester and were actually swapped by paparazzi because they were speaking to Fred Wests brother. It is sickening to the pit of your stomach with went on in that house even being near it must of turned your stomach Stephen. Gloucester like many cities albeit I don’t know it fantastically well… certainly has its good sides and more dark sides ….Smithy
Hi Stephen, thanks for this video about Gloucester. I will view Gloucester in a different light having watched your video. The Regal, now Wetherspoons was previously a cinema. Its a shame you missed the Gloucester Quays at the docks, there's more old buildings, a Waterways museum plus another Wetherspoons! From here you can view the bridge when its drawn up for the tall boats passing through on the canal. Maybe you can visit again in the near future 🙂
I am from Gloucester so it was nice to watch this video. You should have checked out the Docks and Designer Outlet which are just a short walk from the City Centre. I have seen many of your Videos and i totally adore Blackpool and take regular visits up there. Keep up the good work.
Lovely place with some strange people Stephen. The Mock Tudor style houses are beautiful and one of my favourite styles of architecture. Some lovely churches pity the cathedral was closed. Cromwell Street was eerie and gave me the willies, glad you got out of there in one piece. Looking forward to the Bore, (? spelling ), that water pattern really fascinates me. Thankyou for the video Stephen I enjoyed it. 😊😊😊
Hi i did enjoy your trip to Gloucester its not that far from were i live .i have been many times there have you been to the Gloucester docks thats great as well thanks for trip
You are a hero going down those streets my love and a dam site braver than me lol what a lovely and clean and tidy place lovely buildings apart from the odd scruffy bit it just goes to show you that where ever you go thete are bad bits also donny has its rough areas and there are alot more than there that man sounded really strange thankyou for another good one see you on the next one xxx
Gloucester gal here. The weird guy in the Regal is pretty standard for the Regal 😂 it’s also well known locally for being the pub where most people start their night out in town, hence the music and dancefloor. Loved the video!
I used to live in Tredworth Gloucester, the Cathedral is famous for two things Harry Potter and King Edward II who is buried in a tomb in the Cathedral he was murdered in Barclay Castle. You should of popped into Cafe Rene they serve some fantastic food and real ales. I also worked in the Dick Whittington. The frontage of that building is a later addition to the Tudor building to the rear. That building which is part of the pub is the actual birth place of Dick Whittington. Most of those old half timbered buildings are Tudor. Gloucester also has some Roman remains as the city was once a Roman town called Glevum. I miss Gloucester, you need to visit Painswick too. A Doctor Who Christmas special was filmed in and around the cathedral precinct also. Robert Raikes pub best beer garden in Gloucester.
Thanks for filming that Stephen. I would guess that the building across from the cathedral was the bishop's palace. I certainly dont know, but it would make sense. Only my opinion, but going to the West's house may not be a good thing to do I personally feel, that it inadvertently glorifies these types of people. Just my opinion. Some nice old buildings I agree. It was very strange how quiet it was in town. None the less hope your trip there you enjoyed.
There's an old theatre called the Opera House in Tunbridge Wells and an art deco cinema in Whitstable called the Peter Cushing as he lived nearby. Also old churches as well.
Weatherspoons shouldn’t be there. When the old cinema closed down there were discussions about what should replace it. Many wanted a theatre because despite being a city, Gloucester didn’t have a decent theatre. But, sadly Weatherspoons won. Not the best place to get a beer or food. You need to travel 10 miles to Cheltenham to get a culture fix. Cheltenham is a much better place. Sorry to those born and bred there.
Used to work there, it was previously Rank cinema in the early 1900s. Later on turned into a venue where major bands played including The Beatles. Lovely building with lots of history.
Another great video, But that Cromwell street ,looks Ghostly and erily from those poor victims of evil, glad you got away from there, To safety, The City's buildings look lovely and old with character and plenty of history all the best to you and your family.
This is fantastic Stephen and that old cinema looks awesome. My dad ran cinemas in his day in Burton where your bass is from. I still have my dads cap with ABC Cinema on it.
You should be proud of yourself Stephen, you are doing so well. I love all your vlogs on both channel's. And just look how many views you are getting. Your views are goiing up every time you do a vlog.🎉🎉 congratulations awesome kerp up the good work.
great video Stephen i watch a lot of true crime .i went to Cromwell Street on Google Maps yes where the walk way is that is where Rose and Freds house was . keep these great videos coming .
Dear Sir. Thank you for your application as Tourist Development Manager for Gloucester but on this occasion your application was unsuccessful. Regards from Gloucester
I cant believe you didnt show the clock above GA Baker & Son jewellery store ! You must check it out online. Theres also another Weatherspoons at the docks. You were only a 5 min walk away at one point.
Great video Stephen, interesting to see infomous places suchas the site of those murders by The West's. Also, glad to see you back in the UK. Keep up the great work pal.
I was blown away by that beautiful Cathedral absolutely stunning, i was in Gloucester myself for one day years ago but can't remember a thing about it i just know when i heard about the murders the Wests were prowling about the area at the time....I had thought that they had made a bit of a memorial garden to those that were murdered by the Wests but what is there just looks like a bit of a rough grassland.....A beautiful medieval town though or is it a city?
Enjoyed that video Stephen ... come to Sheffield where the Yorkshire ripper was caught 😱 edit: think, the house was fairly big it had a massive cellar ..you’ve probably walked over where the poor girls was buried 😢
Gloucester was founded in 97AD by the Romans. The cathedral is also very nice to walk around. They filmed some of Harry Potter there. The docks also has an ok shopping mall.
Evening nice quirky buildings sad that pub has closed a lot of the building’s look really run down plants and trees 😊 don’t see a lot of those in Blackpool 😂 😂😂😂 those beer monsters follow you around 😅😅😅 Joe 90 vibs! 😂😂 you are funny 😂 very enjoyable video till the next one 😊
Stephen, you were so close to a lovely 'Spoons when you were by the metal spire on the ebike. The Lord High Constable in the docks is much nicer than the Regal. Lots of history in Gloucester, but declining and a shadow of its former self. Been here about 30 years now. I have to say, I forget how beautiful the buildings are and i never look up...! Will do that from now on. The wonky building with the bunting is the Folk Museum, and the prison and courthouse down the side street by the cathedral are worth a visit too. You need to come back!
you are brave walking around there at night!! Spooky enough in the day... I cannot believe you are in my neck of the woods!! Stay safe in Gloucester... 25 was attached to the house on the other side to the chapel. The house was attached to number 23 before being demolished. You are brave not even people from Gloucester will venture down there at night lol Great work though! I visited the house whilst it was standing as the story broke many years ago. The carpark next to the street was filled with press and media. I did have pictures but long lost I had an image of the sign on the house and someone I know had the original road sign.. Cromwell Street...
I always wondered what happened to the sign that was on the front. It must have some value, though I'm not sure if an auction house would want to sell it!
@@AWalkontheWildSideBlackpool The sign was confiscated by police so Imagine that is was destroyed or kept in safe storage for historical evidence... who knows... The roadside street sign I know is at my mates house or was a while back... I sent an email to your photography page...Cheers OT

Cromwell Street was eerie and gave me the willies, glad you got out of there in one piece. Looking forward to the Bore, (? spelling ), that water pattern really fascinates me. Thankyou for the video Stephen I enjoyed it. 😊😊😊
Thanks Jan.
Hi i did enjoy your trip to Gloucester its not that far from were i live .i have been many times there have you been to the Gloucester docks thats great as well thanks for trip
I missed the docks, but will check them out if I go back to see another Severn Bore.
Noticed below the block of flats there was a place called washboard and mangle, presumably a launderette, perhaps it was an old wash house originally.
Ohh Stephen, We thought you were in America. You do take us to wonderful places. How exciting. Thanku.
Just back on Wednesday.
You're a brave man, Steve. Those streets look very dodgy.
It was a bit iffy around there Simon.
Like you said Stephen. I was surprised to see Bright House still going. Robin B'stard's friend. Great vlog.👍
None the less hope your trip there you enjoyed.
i love this when people from other places come to my town
Wow the weatherspoons is beautiful. I don't know who they employ as architects but they are brilliant. ❤❤❤
Looks like an old cinema. There's a similar one in Wolverhampton. Spoons like to use old buildings when they can.
Sorry about the spelling mistakes. Absolutely exhausted 😴 😪...
Thanks Michelle.
I grew up in Gloucester. It has been systematically ruined by development
great video Stephen i watch a lot of true crime .i went to Cromwell Street on Google Maps yes where the walk way is that is where Rose and Freds house was . keep these great videos coming .
Thanks.
Used live lived there back in the mid 80s came back to Cheshire just when Fred and rose hit the news
Dear Sir.
Thank you for your application as Tourist Development Manager for Gloucester but on this occasion your application was unsuccessful.
Regards from Gloucester
You certainly find some dodgy area's Stephen 😂 another fantastic video, sorry you didn't get any bass 😢
I was unlucky with the pubs Richard. At least I got to visit another Wetherspoons.
I cant believe you didnt show the clock above GA Baker & Son jewellery store ! You must check it out online. Theres also another Weatherspoons at the docks. You were only a 5 min walk away at one point.
Looks very unique. Hopefully I’ll see it next time I visit.
Great video Stephen, interesting to see infomous places suchas the site of those murders by The West's. Also, glad to see you back in the UK. Keep up the great work pal.
Thanks pal.
All the green space in Gloucester is very neglected by the council unfortunately.
the dilapidated 60s building used to be a sainsburys 😅
There other house where muders also happened is in midland Road but strangely never knocked down
I'm from Gloucester and this county got good and very bad history here and hope you liked our historic cathedral
@@chantellebirt3438 It is most impressive. Hopefully next time I’ll get there when it’s open.
Missing your Blackpool stuff bro!
When do you return to UK? 😊
This is in the UK. A City in South West England.
I am back now.
Steve you need to visit Rochdale were I come from there lots of interesting thinks ❤❤😅😅
Hi Steve. I hope you are having a great time in the usa and have a safe journey home 👍🙂
Thank you, I will
Enjoyed that video Stephen ... come to Sheffield where the Yorkshire ripper was caught 😱 edit: think, the house was fairly big it had a massive cellar ..you’ve probably walked over where the poor girls was buried 😢
It was quite scary around there Karen.
@@AWalkontheWildSideBlackpool
It’s looked it ..I was intimidated by watching the video .. stay safe
Doctor Foster went to Gloucester - but couldn't remember why, - so he found a pub - and had a good glug - and got very very high! 🙂
One of the Harry Potter films was shot at the Cathedral
Cromwell rd house am sure was demolished
Yes it was
Stephen, you were so close to a lovely 'Spoons when you were by the metal spire on the ebike.
Thanks Jennie. I may go down to see the next big Severn Bore in September or October, so I will check out the other Spoons then.
Great filming you could feel the evil as you walked around the church walls look like dead people's skin..
Thanks again for another great vlog Stephen there should be a parcel for you at Higgits
I lived on the severn and Bristol Channel for over 40 years. My old water.
you are brave walking around there at night!!
