Thanks for this. I built a large inkle loom yesterday in the Ashford style and today I made the Inklette loom. Starting a small weave tonight to get the feel of things. Your video was a lot of help.

I didn't know you have an inklet loom. I have one on order hoping it arrives by the weekend.

Is it to small to try tablet weaving on?

@@ardentlyjeca9491 I hope so as I have one on order for tablet weaving. If not, lovely designs can be made using the heddle. Fingers crossed.

Pretty good going for a beginner!
I would usually weave the end in with the second pick, so one earlier than you did. No biggie though.
To make the end easier to finish, insert a darning needle into the second last pick just before you pass the shuttle through. It will lie next to the weft thread, similar to the way your card strips do. Weave the last pick, cut the weft and leave an end. Then thread the end into the eye of the needle. Pull the needle through the warps and out the other side - voila, end woven in!

Thanks for the tips. I need to warp up the loom again soon, so I shall try them out.

What kind of thread are you using. It is very pretty and shiny. I just had my little loom delivered. Trying to get everything I need to get started. Thanks for then info. I need something to work on
because I get bored quickly. I like this little one. It is small, yet looks like I can make small gifts for Christmas. Thanks for the video, lee

Hi Lee, it’s a bamboo thread which is why it has that shine. Cotton thread will usually be a bit more matte (but sometimes is a bit more like silk, such as in embroidery floss).

I got one for Christmas but I have NO idea what a warp is or what any of these other words mean. Any suggestions on where I can go to find out to learn the basics? I am having the worst time finding anything

Think of it in terms of Star Trek - warp speed ahead, and the shuttle goes from weft to right! Warp is front to back and weft is the actual weaving bit. In terms of more information there are some good inkle weaving books around - I have The Weavers Inkle Pattern Directory by Anne Dixon which helped me get started. If you’re on facebook there are some helpful & active groups on there. And I think I saw Kelly Casanova mention on her UA-cam channel that she is preparing an inkle weaving course, so that’s worth keeping an eye out for. Good luck!

Recently got my loom and wonder why no one suggests the kind of thread to use?

    • @EweSewYou

I usually use bamboo threads on mine, as that’s what the shop I got it from had, so I stocked up. But the type of thread you use kind of depends on what you want to achieve. I have used embroidery thread too, and may try some yarn at some point but nothing too woolly as it’ll stick! Yarn tends to be a bit stretchy too.
