Awesome comprehensive video! I have a Mad Pad and never realized that it can be connected to another one with the outside flap and velcro. Thanks for that
I have the tri-fold metolius (bigger model than the one you didn't test here) and haven't had any problems with it, taken some falls from pretty high and its been plenty comfy, never felt like I was going through it, it also has the velcro options and having the ability to use the third section to back up to a rock/roots has been super useful. It is pretty pricy, coming in at like $300 I think, its got some small pockets on the fold over covers, and it was my couch in Alaska for a few months.
The small one that I have gives me no confidence. Barely better than nothing and I do still pack it into places if I know its short bouldering. Maybe their bigger ones are better.
Climber Dad Thanks for the response. I ended up going with the Mad Rock Mad Pad based on your vid. The other pads looked great (especially the Kinetik), but I’m still a beginner and figure I don’t need the extra features yet.
OH YEAH!!... where can I get a climber dad crash pad??... If it has the qualities this Trad Dad is looking for it will have the following requirements: -FUNCTIONAL! Just like all the other crash pads out there (but possibly better) -CHEAP! Because I don’t pay for advertising/marketing jargon! -ACCOMMODATES!... the dirt bag lifestyle... because when you’re a dirtbag climber who has time for things like money$$ ??

Colton, thanks for the input! Sounds like a great pad.
Nice vid! Good advice on what to look for in a pad.
Cheers from a happy madpad user.
Thank you for the informative video! really helpful
I know exactly what I need now! Thank you Thank you Thank you.
You're welcome
organic big pad or BD mondo for the win.
We only have mad rock pads available where I'm from so I'm definitely going with the mad pad now
Helpful testing, thanks!
Jeez!
Could those things save your neck if you don’t land on your feet?!
Probably not. You will definitely NOT be seeing a test video on what happens if you have a bad landing on this channel, at least not a planned one.
So, Metolius pads aren’t worth the money? They’re just too soft in general?
