@1:18 Our local/family's store shown in the video is only supermarket in Crestline. Our 43k sq ft grocery store's roof caved in after 8 feet of snow. The store /roof was built 37 years ago. It shows how intense this storm was. Thankful to God that no one was injured. I pray that our community can repair, rebuild, and rebound after this storm.
The loss of Goodwins is the biggest blow for us residents. Without Goodwins our only source of food and supplies is driving down to San Bernardino or Lake Arrowhead. Through the storm it was a beacon of hope and many residents where walking for groceries. The biggest threat now is the snow load and trees falling down. If the roads are not cleared, many will run out of supplies. Its a shame the orginal location by the post office cannot be used as a makeshift location.
Yeah, thank god nobody was hurt, but wth is wrong with you guys, not clearing the roof of snow??? This is a completely well-known issue that anyone in the mountains should fully understand before owning or operating any property up there. Flat roofs collect snow and must be cleared before more than a foot accumulates on it. You stay up there all night clearing it, if need be, but that's just what has to be done.
@FRANK RIZZO FROM CHICAGO Yes generator for sure. Especially if you live off the grid like these people in the mountains. 1-2 months of supplies and a generator at the minimum.
This is the sound of a people who aren't self sufficient. It's quite sad that they chose to live in an area that they aren't prepared to properly thrive in.
“Yeehaw…then darned caleefornians can’t even wrangle up their own power poles. Heck…in my town…they just lash em buddies on up to da top der, and pow tha line in day der box thingy…and WHAMO…is like dem ole darn power man” Sorry Billy Bob. We can’t all live like you.
Shovel your roofs...and dig your cars out. I lived in Utah and at 10,000 feet. We would get snow like this, always grateful that I didn't live in Buffalo NY. The elderly need help I'm sure, besides a greater chance of falling. 🙏
You are right that lady seemed like a trumper for sure. Then she's such a baby she is calling the power company and begging government for help right away. I doubt she even has a shovel
I greatly appreciate this timely information ℹ️ and at the same time I would like to make a call for help according to my experience, I lived in Crestline for two years and what I was able to experience is that each winter was more intense and nothing compared to this year, my neighbors were in their majority of people of age, already retired, my request is that through this newscast make the recommendation to people who are in the mountains and have the ability to verify the health situation of their neighbors, especially the elderly 🙏🏽. In adverse climates, the first thing to be interrupted is the power supply, gas for heating, water pipes freeze, and firewood runs out. It's time to unite, help those in need. "Union make force"
I can understand it being hard to keep up with road snow removal but why do residents not keep up with their driveways, doorways, sidewalks, etc? So much easier to remove and keep up with it than wait until it’s too overwhelming.
Because they think it'll be cool to let it all accumulate, then open up the door to a wall of snow. And it is cool... until the novelty wears off and they realize that they need to leave their house... and then panic sets in when they realize how badly they f'd up. Why do beautiful mothers of 9 kids, with everything going for them, decide it'd be a great idea to climb to the top of Mt. San Antonio in the middle of the night, during a blizzard... and then fall 800+ feet to their death, moments after shooting an Insa selfie video showing the world how cool they are? The mysteries of life.
There’s tons of seniors up here. It’s a lot even for someone young and capable. The older folks are having trouble keeping up. We ain’t new to this it’s just so much
Learn your area an please know if this happens in the Midwest an East coast an they don't even have enough resources for what they go threw every year then SoCal is no different but if u live in the mountains u should learn this lesson , our whole state is in this position like all the other states an first responders can't do their jobs if the roads are not passable an not enough staffing those jobs,,. this happens an u must remember in this situation NO ONE IS SPECIAL !! If u have plans for a fire u must have plans for winter storms also because no one is coming until it's safe for them to get there
Corrupt California system is still calling 92% of the state under drought, after having another large storm/flooding/ allowing outflow without filling the lake. Californians should stop acting as fanatics, as democratic officials have literally no risk of losing their jobs and are acting as dictators rather than public servants. Unreal! Also, why are all California reservoirs dumping a lot of water while they are not close to being full?
if you need help, just say that is snow is racist, then an army of people with angry little signs will march to rescue you. oh wait, they just are all talk, when things get hard they cant be bothered.
As the climate heads into greater extremes globally, how can we best deal with future climate crises? The short answer is that we cannot deal with them unless we take care of nature's inner balance. We live in a tightly-closed and interdependent system in which everything boomerangs back to us. While living in such a system, we need to reconsider what we want and think, and how we treat each other, because our human connections are the primary influence on how nature responds to us. It is common to think that climate is dependent on factors outside of us-whether it be balances between heat and cold in the environment, or the effects of various kinds of pollution we emit-because we lack a complete picture of how our attitudes to each other bring about the strongest responses from nature toward us. No creature distorts nature the way that we people do. And it is not simply a matter of switching to renewable energy sources, electric cars and the like; it is a matter of how we relate to each other. If we truly wish to witness more balance throughout nature and not have to deal with all kinds of cold waves and other natural disasters, then similarly to how we have electricity, water and gas meters in our homes, we should also have meters that count how much evil we emit into the world from our negative attitudes to each other. What I mean is that if we could feel the extent to which we emit negative forces into the world, which negatively ricochet back to us, then we would wish to change this negative driver within us. We would want to switch it to a drive that makes our human connections positive, and which harmonizes us with nature. In simple terms, when we get up in the morning, we should first and foremost consider what we need to do in order for all people to have it good. Developing such an attitude is not so simple, yet we will need to seriously work on it as we head into the future. A life of increasing blows from nature or a life of peace and harmony depends on the extent to which we impact a shift in our attitudes to each other-from negative to positive.
As soon as all vehicles, trucks, snowplows, and machines are all electric and not run on fossil fuels, this will be way more manageable. Also, banning any form of natural gas burning and wood burning will also help. As soon as everything is solar and wind powered then the power issues will be resolved too.
