I only use forward sling placement on ARs that exceed 12", anything less gets place round the barrel nut then again my rear sling is attached to the stock then the castle nut.

I’m gonna have to move all of my slings now.

Great video and information! I ran my sling like this when I used pressure pads and it was nice. Once I tossed pressure pads and went to a traditional same side light with clicky tailcap light I ended up moving the sling to the rear of the rail so it would not tangle up on my light. And that way, regardless of how long my rifles rail is, all my rifles have the same exact length of pull from sling (on stock) to sling (on rear of rail)
Love this setup with pressure pads though!

Back of the handguard and outside of the stock makes the absolutely best setup. If you tighten it, you can still brace it and shoot with a support of a sling, but when you drop your Rifle its just tight to the body and the gun doesnt flap, unlike when you have it connected ti the Rear of the reciever. How sling should be mounted: can you shoot your gun without any problems and does your sling actually get in the way or not, I don't care how you run it than, but sling's purpose is to hold your gun so you don't have to, so you csn sling it behind while working on a guy, or doing whatever. Mounting on the back of Reciever neutralise purpose of the sling, cuz than your stock flaps everywhere, Gets in the way, is loose even when you tighten the sling to the maximum. Guys with slings like that, during pistol transitions flag everyone that is behind them

This is my mutual point. I've tried running it on a QD mount below the castle nut. Just dosent work for me, but I'm not former Marsoc.

      100%
Any configuration that requires you to loosen the sling from admin carry to shoot is not for me. Rear of the handgaurd and rear of the receiver is the best of them all imo after many hours of all the different kinds on configurations, including this sling supported one. Maybe for a .308 but 5.56 is such negligible recoil that is just gets in the way without providing enough benefit. Although there is obviously merit to the supported for accuracy but the trade off isn’t there

@@ryancarmona290you would be surprised how bad pistol shooters are with ar15 at the range

Well I tried it on my 11.5. Barely works but I feel that it’s due to the shorter rail. Luckily I’m smaller so I was able to pull it off

This is an 11.5 also. It works with understanding grip fundamentals & you probably just need adjustment within your sling.

I've never liked my rear sling attachment on the castle nut area. All for slings, as they add retention thus more contact points...but he's former Marsoc so how are you going to win that battle? Your not. Front sling I've swapped them all out like he has it. I can't convince myself with the rear. Sorry. Lost my Man card.
