Great guide! Haven't played LotRO for 5 years, since I've been momming, but when I rejoined I was SO confused by the new LI system. Thanks for breaking it all down :)
so much easier than what it was 10 years ago, but still very complicated. I got through my first couple of legendary items through Moria and followed this video afterwards to see what I can improve upon as a hunter. Thanks Zollin!
If not using a Valar level boost, all characters earn their first two LIs by completing the Moria introduction. Such characters may not have much Ancient Script to customize their LIs but will earn random Traceries from quest rewards and the LI Reward Track. Characters which completed the Moria introduction before the new LI system replaced the old LI system will have old LIs which can be Appraised for Ancient Script. Old LIs that are in the old LI advancement panel can be Appraised for Ancient Script, any old LI that you might obtain now (from another player or sitting in your Vault but which was never added to the old LI advancement panel) cannot be Appraised. Appraisal is not destructive, the old LIs can still be used after Appraisal if desired. Appraisal is the only method of earning Ancient Script which can add to the Ancient Script amount over the 10,000 cap. When not at or near the level cap, characters mainly need to remember to reforge their LIs every 5th level (56, 61, 66, etc.). Reforging greatly increases the LI’s contribution to the character’s damage and healing. Any empty Tracery sockets should be filled with something; anything is better than nothing but you’ll keep getting random Traceries from quests and the Reward Track so don’t worry about exactly what Tracery you use if you can’t get exactly the one you want. Enhancement Runes are the least important when leveling, use whatever Enhancement Runes you get for free but until at or near the level cap don’t spend any Ancient Script to purchase Enhancement Runes. At level cap one of your main equipment goals will be to have a Legendary quality Tracery in every slot and to enhance all the LI Tracery slots to the maximum. You will always be on the hunt for Legendary quality Enhancement Runes because long before you max out all your LI Tracery slots they will be the only way to continue to improve the iLvl of your Tracery slots.
So I got the Gift of the Valar to boost me to 140...and then threw out everything except the weapons and accessory. So I'll be using this to start from the beginning!
@VoiceoftheRings I'm confused on the use the LI panel. I have both of my weapons but the are not slotted on the LI panel like before the massive change. Do we use the panel, or is it only used after we reforge when we hit beyond level 140. Thank you for the help.
The LI panel that shows them all is no longer needed besides for getting old resources out of pre updated legendary items. I know it feels weird that they left it in game. But, they wanted to make sure anyone returning to the game is not doing messed up before updating items. All you will need after appraising them to get your stuff out of old LI panel, is just the upgrade one you can get to by dropping the item on the essence reclaimed slot in character tab. So, in short. You should no longer need the original LI panel.
yea but what if your a beginner? What is a legendary item? And how do you get to Rivendale? I mean in much of your explaining is like Greek to new players. So many acronyms and words that mean nothing to the new player.
I do have other videos as well! But you make an excellent point. I'll try to make some new ones that go super super beginners level. Is it insulting to call it legendary items for dummies 101? Like the book series? Haha

@@VoiceoftheRings Thank you. I was worried I had done something wrong. I'm enjoying my return to the game.
I'm building a homely house in Rivendell so Elrond has to change his houses name to "the second to the last homely house" :[
