I remember when I moved to Kansas uh skunk run..opened the front door double striped skunk..but they were just tiny babies..but they will bite they hell out you..

I once found an abandoned baby skunk. He would also stomp at me and then he would walk up onto my hand. So stinking cute. Took him to a local wildlife rehab center.
It's unlikely anyone has seen so many skunks all together in a rescue shelter. Leave it to the folks at Dodo to show us.

No, I actually grew up in a skunk shelter until I was old enough to be released.
I had a mother skunk around here one year that had six babies trailing after her. We got to see her on one of the outdoor cameras. :)

Definitely, thank u all so much. When my children were preteens, we use to dream of a wildlife animal rehabilitation farm. We didn't make enough to get the farm. But we love it and the people that can help.
Yeah, if only god would bless them. Instead no, they have to rely on coming up with the funds and likely donations.
What makes you think “god” would help them? Have you seen the world or do people just say this as a way to make themselves feel good?
I really don’t understand. If your religion is real, then that means your god created a world where many of the creature have to survive by killing and eating other, often the most harmless and cute creatures while they are still alive.
What when watching a nature channel makes you think god cares enough to help anything? Do you feel gods love and caring when you see a lion slaughter Cubs or a mother polar bear frantically trying to fend off a starving male that simply throws her to the side and kills her cub right in front of her? None of this would be necessary, if it’s designed, then that means your god chose for it to be like that, and I can’t imagine that god being anything but a psychopath, and that’s before I get anywhere near the Bible.

We had a young black and white cat, that played with a skunk that looked to be the same age. Was so funny, one afternoon I looked out the back door, there they both sat as pretty as could be wanting in. 🤣 I so wanted to feed the little thing, but knew better because it's mother was near by. It was a memory I'll never forget. They never sprayed my cat, guess they thought he was one of them.

I have 2 adult skunks living under my deck who moved in as juveniles. Last year they raised a litter of babies, and they are so charming to watch - from a distance. I live in a rural area, so there's lots of wild critters than come by, and some set up permanent residence when there's shelter and food available. I like having the skunks - they keep the raccoons away from my yard.
They love raspberries. We had a family last Summer. I always took my mom's garden fruits from next door and fed them to the skunks. The ones that were not in good shape for us to eat. Raspberries were their favorite. I'd always leave plate fulls of fruit for them at night. And they would dig the cutest holes in the yard all over the place.
Did they spray u any. I have had some come around n I see they need food but I am reluctant to feed because if they start spraying me or my pups I don’t know what to do. Should I feed or leave food or do I not

Apparently they reclassified them and they no longer belong to the weasel family.

@@eltorpedo67 Wow I didn't know that! Was it rather recent they reclassified them? I went through a Mustelid fascination because of honey badgers a while back and that's how I learned at the time how skunks and badgers seemed related plus I had Zoobooks as a kid and skunks were in there with the badgers, weasels, and otters. I guess I need to delete my comment now since it's no longer valid.. 😅
@@stungstung2424 They look strikingly similar and share so many characteristics like their head shape, feet and claws, having strong scent glands, and they use their tails to communicate through body language. Badgers are absolutely extradinary creatures for their size, and besides not being able to jump well they are pound for pound some of the toughest and most ferocious mammals out there I think!

@@jaredbickmore2474 Rotten eggs, burnt tyres, and marijuana. I live in indiana, US. I'm originally from Sweden (long story of how I ended up here), and Sweden doesn't have skunks either, so smelling that for the first time was an experience. I've had a ferret, which is the same family of animals. Skunks smell like ferret, but about 1000% more potent. If a skunk has been hit by a car, you can smell it within a 2 mile radius.
We had a baby skunk visit our back yard daily, this summer. He was living under our neighbours shed. Very cute, and our dog showed a keen interest in him. Never sprayed once.
I hope he is living a great skunk life somewhere. Great work with all of those babies and god bless your work.

I spent 6 years living in a tent in the woods. The most fear I ever felt was a loud noise coming at me thru the brush. It sounded like a big animal. I was in mountain lion/bear territory. I stood braced for battle but had no weapons. The sound got closer and louder and my heart raced. Then a skunk walked out of the brush and we scared each other half to death. We both ran away. So tough am i.
When I was in the woods one sprayed me every night for a week. Until I trapped and relocated it.
Then many many years later an ex roommate bought a baby skunk and we bonded. That little guy went just about everywhere with me. 4 years later he got out of the house right after hurricane Irma in Florida. Miss him dearly. He was my Emotional Support Animal.

Went to a truck stop in the Smoky mountains in about 6 in the evening a whole group of them come out Labrador bark at them and got sprayed you could smell him a long ways I think they use ketchup to neutralize the smell but it doesn't completely eliminated it
This gave me hope that there is still some kindness left in the world. To help any animal, let alone, a wild animal, makes my heart giddy, and feel so much love. Please everyone, if you can, help an animal in despair. Help an animal find a home. Help an animal find love. Thank you 🙏🏽

Hi. Since you brought it up with some emotion, may I ask you something? Of course I may, I'm free to . . . Isn't helping humans more important? Don't get me wrong, I'm all for helping animals. But human life suffers in this world without help. People, children particular, can't simply pick themselves up by their bootstraps and do better for themselves. Dirt floors, rodent infestation, having to walk miles just to get clean water . . . and then walk miles back carrying that water, seeking a next meal in a literal garbage dump . . . that's life for some people. Many are passionate about helping animals but what about humans? This should weigh heavily on all people who want to help in one way or another.

Pet skunk breeders are required to have their scent glands removed before they leave the litter. My buddy's breeder even had him neutered.
Yes. They are stinky still because like ferrets they have a "musk" smell. I used dog cologne on him once a week. Spray it on rub it in. Once a month he got a shower in blue dawn dish liquid.
Also. They are hypoallergenic so if you are allergic to animals you will not be allergic to them. I miss my baby boy.

Once, my outside dogs saw one, and didn't speak skunk. I heard a horrified howl, and then all three started barking and howling (mama was half Beagle, half Jack Russell, her boys were half her, plus a quarter each German Sheppard and Chow). Before I could even get up out of bed, I started smelling it _through_ the closed bedroom windows. When I went out to check, the stink was so strong, I couldn't go into the back yard. I had an asthma attack, and threw up. My poor babies! By the morning, most of the smell had gone away, but they were miserable, and I smelt it all night in the house, throughout. There was no escape. Meanwhile, sometimes, driving at night on country roads, I'll smell just a faint hint of one, and it reminds me of some good "herb." Lol!

My brother got sprayed by a skunk when he was 8. When he would walk around the woods, he was aggressive, and would carry a stick like a weapon and hit bushes and trees with it. My grandparents burned his clothes, shoes and everything. Then they scrubbed him with tomato juice. Skunks never threaten me, they seem to like me. I think they're adorable.
Some people might not like skunks because their dogs get sprayed by them.
@@lilyroza My dogs did, once. They learned, and never had it happen again, but it was horrific. I had an asthma attack and vomited. Because it was in our backyard, and I couldn't get close enough to even hose down the one who was sprayed, they had to suffer through the night. I could smell it through the closed windows. But I still love skunks.

I've had skunks, opossums and raccoons and though all are nocturnal the skunks were by far the least annoying at 3am.

I can’t begin to tell you how much I adore and love skunks! I grew up being told to stay away from them. But the more I see videos like this and find out more about them, I find that they are the sweetest, cutest, most adorable fur babies. I LOVE Cats but skunks are right up there next to cats. Skunks get a lot of hate for their spray, and yea. I've been there, my dogs have been skunked before and the stench alone burns your eyes and nose, but that's the best way to scare off predators that would otherwise eat them up, and I'll be honest, it's a smart evolutionary tactic! These creatures are really fascinating, honestly, thank the people who saved all of those orphaned skunks, bless their souls

We rescued two tiny quail last year. So tiny and yet so bold. They were cold & hungry. I scooped them up into a shoebox and placed in bathroom under my heat lamp. Made some sugar water for them. Called, a sanctuary and turned them over. Okay checked on them. They survived and were released back into wild. The little girl was so bold coming up to us. She came right up to us on the porch. Brother following her. We never did find momma. I live in PNW and every year we have young hawks, we mentor. They have a nest in huge tree in my backyard. They always drop to ground a few days before they can fly. So we hid them in our orchard and keep an eye on them. After, I check them over and determine they aren’t hurt. Usually, within two days they are flying. I am part Indigenous and we believe…….animals are our teachers. The four legged, the winged ones, swimmers and crawlers. Please respect……… all life forms. I talk to the tree people too.

I came face to face with a wild skunk once. It was up on a ledge. We surprised each-other. It hissed at me. I calmly said...'take it easy, buddy' and slowly backed around a parked car. It took off. Whew! Made it without getting sprayed.
They do not spray on a whim. My experience is if you are no threat, neither are they ....

I love animals and when we had skunks in our neighborhood I thought it was so cool. Unfortunately a tragedy occurred when the city broke the lid off our trash bin on collection day and while I was waiting for the city to take it away we had a deluge. I never thought to turn my bin upside down and now I’m kicking myself bc a skunk got in there and didn’t make it. Me and my kid felt terrible and it made us think about what hazards we may have in our yard. So we’ve learned to be careful not to leave anything out that can harm wildlife. We try to think of it that this skunk may have passed but he taught us to be careful with what we leave out that animals can get into. So just putting that out there that we as humans can do our best to make sure our spaces don’t negatively effect wildlife.

I Found out a couple months ago that there's a whole secret community of skunks in my neighborhood. Almost nobody knows. At least a couple pass through our yard every night and I try to record them and post it.
Wild Skunks are adorable, smart, curious and even friendly. A skunk wandered into the house last week. She looked around for a couple minutes and walked out. Fortunately our cat and dog each sat quietly and watched.
Skunks are the best.
Feeling lonely, I got a ferret in early 2005 and a week later my ex-girlfriend, (who owned a raccoon...which was my calling to date her 😆) calls me, and she asks if I still wanted a baby skunk (based on previous conversations). So I drove across the state immediately. I wish digital cameras and smartphones had been more of a thing at that point because I would have documented all of it. I miss you my lil stinker but I'm glad I got to be your papa for so many years. ❤️ Her name was daisy because i thought she smelled so good after being de-scented. I'll never forget that scent. I love the smell of musk animals.

Awww! He's such a cutie patootie!! I had a descented skunk in the 80s and my precious boy was so sassy and sweet! Yes, foot stomping is a thing with skunks. As is sassy personalities and grumpiness!
