Players: "Ball groups are ruining Cyrodiil, we've been begging you for years to nerf them, but all you nerf are their counters! When are you going to do something different!?"
Devs: "So, we did something different. We buffed instead."
Players: "What did you buff? Plaguebreak? Siege damage? Proxy Det?"
Devs: "We buffed the ball groups."
Players: " . . . "
Ballgroups barely even exist anymore and they fall over at the first sign of a half-decent Azureblight user. If you're unsuccessful at this point, its not because there are no counters, its because you're not particularly good at PvP. And thats OK! Not everyone does Sunspire Hard Mode. Not everyone wins housing competitions. Not everyone is cracked at PvP.
@@KKolly probably different on different servers. PS-NA they are still pretty common. I think the cleanse spam cancels out sets like azureblight, so ball groups (that aren’t bad at the game*) are immune to it.
* most ppl that play in ball groups are in fact bad at the game, tbf.
@@knowlen and it's okay. an organised group of players that are good at the game should be powerful. nobody is entitled to defeating a more organised or more skilled group than yours or 1vXing a ballgroup
@@OrangeMemes737 oh I don’t disagree on skilled players coordinating in a group. That isn’t really what a ball group is. A ball group is a group of (usually unskilled PvE) players that exploit cross healing and cleanse mechanics to make their characters invulnerable to damage so they stack on an objective until the enemy faction gives up trying to kill them and moves on. Will this good on heavy attack characters if only drawback is recovery?
This might make 8v8 battlegrounds really swingy too if a group can coordinate around a standard bearer. Imagine 7 werewolves and one banner-buffer in a deathmatch.
This what DKs shifting standard should have been.
I can see this being huge for Trials and Ball groups. Trials i'd assume a healer or tank could run this but in ballgroups you'd need some kind of heavy support build so they don't die easily? they're bound to get focused hard.
I wonder since it's a toggle skill if it has to be on both bars or remains active if swapping bar and only slotted in one.
As for the snares and immobilization cleanse and immunity, what I notice is that it also further reduces recoveries to 40% instead of 33% so I wonder if this is how strong it's expected to be.
Pretty sure it needs to be double-barred. We'll confirm on Monday.

There's a 3200 post reddit thread that started since the update preview full of people not wanting rated battlegrounds or the removal of 4v4v4, and for good reason. Literally every MMO in the history of MMO's that has added a rated battleground in any form has had to massively gut core class flavor in favor of making things easier for them to balance. Every single set in the game as going to have to be adjusted simply because of this one change, and it will effect all players, not just the less than 20% which choose to PvP. The uniqueness of ESO's 4v4v4 is what made it easy to keep fun. Balance hardly mattered. Now, it's going to have to be priority number one, and we all know how ZoS balances.
I play mostly support so I was really happy to see this Grimoire at first but then I thought about how broken this could actually be. I look at it purely from a PvP and especially Cyrodiil point of view. Ballgroups are a real pain to deal with for years and this skill looks like a Ballgroups wet dream. The reduced recoveries don't seem all that bad to me so the downsides are not big enough, in my opinion. This could, potentially, boost the survivability of Ballgroups quite a bit making them nearly untouchable, if several players run this.
PvE players, on the other hand, will probably have a great time with it.
you actually need recoveries in PvP, that's why wretched vitality is so popular. so probably you'll have to build into it really heavily to be able to sustain it

hello I follow you because you do very good builds and everything and I just watched your video and I'm trying to see since I'm tank if the writing skills that we currently use finally the things that we put Above will they change or will we even need the new skill? ❤❤❤
It will depend on your group. In dungeons, I wouldn't use Banner Bearer. In trials Healers will be first in line to run it, perhaps an Off Tank now and then, but the 8m radius means that Tanks are mostly safe! We'll know a lot more when it goes on PTS next week.

This is on PTS. It's best to watch the whole video before commenting! 😉 You'll be able to get Banner Bearer in a few weeks.
Heavy-attack Magicka Sorcerer that utilizes one-bar Oakensoul build. Slot Banner Bearer without worry as you just heavy attack for resources and damage.
Not a setup you get in highly optimised groups though.

I wouldn’t stress about the immobilise one in PvP there is absolutely no way Zos would be stupid enough to allow something that blatantly broken, yeah Zos are useless but they aren’t going to actually render cc useless
I’ll bet anyone actual money who disagrees with
We have snow treaders for that already, as it seemingly is only immunity to soft CC, so for PvP really not worth a 40% sustain reduction for an 8m range
I agree it seems to be just a misleading tooltip. I'd be surprised if it confers group-wide CC immunity.
@@ThatJordyGuy5 They have to be worn by everyone, while that can be put on one guy if it is applicable to your mates.
@@canisinumbra yeah and if you fall 8m behind or try to get out of a negate? That guy dies? It’s not feasible for everyone to be that close always, and movement is too important

2 healers each with a banner. 1 for direct damage, 1 for DOT, will be the new meta. Paired with symphony and masters resto, and the atro stone, this will easily be sustainable. RoJo wardens already have godly sustain, this will barely affect them. Im only marginally worried about nightblade ulti-pump healers as they already have to tread a very fine line, but i don't think it would take long to get used to.
Rojo + Ultigen + Spaulder + Symphony + 2 banners = Q4 meta
the CC immunity has me excited for by braindead tank build
Don’t know in what world RoJo healers still wear Spaulder in all the high damage/heal spike content where a support dps or off tank wears it, but how should these healers handle that kind of punishment and solve the already extreme bar space issues?
Also, 2 HAs every 22 seconds is not going to mitigate anything. It didn’t mitigate Spaulder without building into a weaker healer, it won’t mitigate this either.
The main issue is: in most content healers aren’t even there to apply the the buff as they are playing mechs.
If it’s shoved on healers again, I’ll stop playing PvE. No thanks.
And as long as healers aren’t banned in battlegrounds, I won’t play fast paced PvP matches where no one dies as the healbot tanks keep everyone alive.
Spaulder on a healer is still pretty much the norm. And yes - the off tank (or a DD at times) wears it as well, as you need 2 in a trial group. I play RO/JO with spaulder regularly and have 0 issues with sustain and I have never had to change my build into a 'weaker healer'. Plus I always have a flex spot or 2. Even in HM/trifecta situations.

@@NinjaPulls it’s pretty much not common anymore as we got new monster sets and the pp healer has to wear a mythic. Don’t know what you raid but surely not vSE HM where you don’t put any healer in rojo or spaulder, surely not vLC HM and so on. Spaulder is gone on healers, it was there by mistake anyways. Remember when everyone shoved zen/mk on healers and i opposed especially zen goes on dk and boom one patch later zendk became meta. Here you go.

The previous response was from Maya, who has healed practically everything in the game and was kind enough to take time out of her busy day to respond to your concerns. So take it easy with the hate. Sounds like you're talking about specific comps, and I'm also in a couple of groups where Spaulder is passed around between fights and doesn't spend much time on a Healer. But remember 95% of groups aren't doing HMs or minmaxing. Spaulder on Healers is still super common among gen pop.
@@NinjaPulls I don’t care who Maya ist, fact is per logs Spaulder is taken off from healers in almost every content because they cannot even apply the buff.
Popular or not: tanks or buff dds are wearing Spaulder these days.
Ahhh yes! Because scribing breaking pvp and ruining mayhem wasn't enough! ZOS is thinking pro-actively with ways to break the game.
There have been so many ways that pvp, both Cyrodiil and Battlegrounds, have been broken since launch that if you honestly think it was in any way ok you're crazy.
