I think you missed the point of his analogy.. maybe you should surf around the NHL and hockey subreddits with the playoffs going on right now and see if his analogy stands.
Pieshka Coltic I didn't misunderstand. In sports, if people die or are injured, they're people who are players or supporters. The casualties of politics are almost always innocent bystanders
Absolutely! They were just going around the table making the same points I've been trying to make in my own friends circles for the last six months or so. That discussion on sexism was spot on!
+marshmello3455 So true. Misogyny, sexism, racism, feminism, etc are words being so haphazardly tossed around so often, so loosely & so inappropriately that they're losing their impact, losing their importance in meaning & making people numb to their true need for such word weaponry in conversation & debate proclamations to real, deserving instances for them. There is a real difference between racism & prejudice & there is a real difference between sexism & just using it as quick word weapons against disagreement over a man's comment or actions to legitimize their own arguments. This is coming from a feminist woman. I'm offended when women call non offensive things sexist. Language abuse!
Ana needs to go for persuasion classes, she is VERY aggressively argumentative. Even though i share the same view as her, i feel like disagreeing with her just because of her hostility
Radio Laboratory dumb arguement the money she got paid for those speechs were bribes for when she becomes president anyone who thinks otherwise is a moron so calling her out wasnt sour grapes it was just showing how corruption can happen with in the law
Radio Laboratory we're at a point enconomically/ecologically where we can't afford "increments" in change. If that is what you want however, I guess you're consistent supporting Hillary
At this point I am just happy to feel a part of the movement. I am done trying to debate. I just want to continue to show up for every rally, show as much support as ever, and hope for the best. I will be able to go on knowing before a little over a month ago I had given up completely. I was much more unhappy, and much more aggresive. I just wanna hug now. Like major hugs. Everywhere. I am forever feeling the Bern. LOVE
As far as debating Hillary Clinton supporters, I had to replay this to help validate what I've been thinking about them. They can never defend Hillary Clinton's policy positions, they're always assuming she's being attacked but on the other hand she's supposed to be so tough, they're clueless when it comes to her record, but their response is always "she'll get things done because of her experience". I really think they've got their heads in the sand on what she's actually done and don't want to give up a sinking ship. Awesome Ana, I'm sure glad to see you represent!
I think Hillary supporters aren't confident that Bernie can stand up to REAL political pressure, and if he's president, every single day will be full of political pressure. In Vermont, they are very liberal - except about guns. Bernie voted against allowing people to sue gun manufacturers. He said that he felt it was unconstitutional. That's not true, because if it were, there would be no restrictions on weapons at all. Bernie knows that he might lose his Senate seat if he is too tough on guns. I understand that he was protecting himself politically, but he should also understand when Hillary or other politicians do the same thing.
I understand Ana and Jimmy's frustration. To blindly still support Hillary when the facts plainly show you shouldn't, totally defies logic. If your friends are important to you and you love them otherwise, just agree not to discuss politics, it will only lead to heartache.
Wow Ana...I have a new found respect for you. I've had the same problem with some of my colleagues. Voting against your interests is suppose to be a southern Republican thing, isn't it?
I'm with Ana. I'm a 'Boomer' and this is not only a problem with friends but family who are rather liberal. I've been waiting for a presidential Bernie type character all of my politically active life. Don't be discouraged everyone, we have to hang tough.
I'm 19 years old and my aunt brought up how Hillary is winning New York and the other females were all excited and felt so proud and when i brought up that I'm siding with Bernie, they turned aggressive towards me and their reasoning was that she's "more experienced" and "better for immigrants". And even they said they don't support Bernie because he's old and unexperienced and I'm supporting Bernie because I'm part of the younger generation. Then my mother said "maybe you hate her because she's a woman?". Conclusion: It feels people are voting more towards someone they're familiar with and don't bother to even do a little bit of research and there is definitely double standards in sexism.
I agree with Ana. She's right. Remember, it's not about Bernie it's about a movement. It's about the people. Our future is at stake. It's more than a presidency. Change is hard, and sometimes it hurts. "Holding your nose" and voting for Hillary is a vote for the status quo not change. The reason TYT has been successful is because of this movement. It's not about Cenk, it's not about Ana, it's not about Sanders, it's not about Warren. It is so much bigger than that. You either believe in the movement or you don't.
I have a degree in atmospheric physics, most of my family gives me zero credit for it when they try to talk about climate change, so I feel your pain Ana, it is so frustrating.
That is a very misguided concept of many Hillary Clinton supporters. I am a Bernie sanders supporter but i know friends how support Hillary and i respect them and have conversations with them and they are not ignorant they are clever people with different opinions. i think both sides misrepresnets each other and that only harms us.
+Kira Kira I have friends that support(ed) Clinton also. Almost all changed their minds after we discussed her actual record. Why do your friends support Clinton?
+Brimar7 why not?people have a right to their opinions. plus I am not longer support Bernie Sanders I neither support Hillary .Actually I dislike all candidates.
Ana is completely correct. We need to get past the counterproductive mindset that political views are personal and that we should still respect those who have different ones than us. No, we need to relentlessly challenge and hold each other accountable for political views in order for a democracy to function as best as it can. We need to understand that there is an OBJECTIVELY right and wrong way of governing IF your intent is to ensure a fair playing field for our species. People are suffering. I believe that those who either made or support the decisions that led to the suffering of others are enemies of our species and should be treated as such.
+CarnivalNights no. at some point there are just facts and if someone hears that and simply says "i don't think so" then its not a 50/50! at least state your rebuttle otherwise the word arrogance doesn't exist. its like when people deny evolution or the holocaust. an opinion CAN be wrong.
They are so mad after the New York primary. We knew she was going to win all week. I think the young turks are going through the 5 stages of grieving lol
I absolutely love your passion, Anna K. It's pure, genuine and authentic. I can thoroughly relate! it's such a beautiful thing to see in others the same sort of fighting spirit you admire most about yourself. I believe that the key to solving the question you brought up: "How do you maintain respect for people who have a political view you don't respect", is simple. You forgive them. As profoundly awkward and challenging as that may sound, I believe that that is ultimately the only real answer you can honestly come up with that reconciles the moral dilemma. Do you intend to change YOUR views about Bernie and/or the revolution in order to comport with the deluded?! Of course not. So, you HAVE to respect the rights that others have to remain resistant to change, the truth and reason. They have the right to believe the humongous lie which is HRC. Some people will never be won over no matter what you say. However (I believe), what you DO is a different matter. So it is in that regard; in that spirit, it is possible to communicate effectively and connect meaningful with those that can be reached. We don't NEED to convince everyone. We just need enough; a majority. You've heard Bernie say it himself multiple times, I'm sure. If enough people show up to vote, we win. If not, we loose. That's been the big picture point from the beginning. For generations, over and over again we've been told that as a people... we are stupid. We've been TREATED like we are stupid by the MSM. But, the average American is actually not stupid. Being TOLD that you are stupid doesn't make you stupid. Believing it does. The friends of yours that you referred to, unfortunately seem to be pretty stupid. It's possible for them to change that. But, you or I have limited control over that. What matters is whether or not we remain committed to fighting for what is right no matter what. Our example and our resolve is our message and means for influencing the discourse. Those not interested in insuring that the proper perspective and narrative remain at the center of what sucks up all the air in the room at all times are in fact declaring themselves as the enemy of the truth and by extension enemies to what is just and right.
I feel Ana's and Jimmy's anger. It's so incredibly frustrating trying to involve people into sensible discussion of actual policy points of the candidate they're supporting, only to be met with a dismissive ignorance.
Damnit I'm a proud low information voter! Now I have to run off and google what pairs well with a cup of Tears. Maybe a steak with a topping of handle bar mustache? Maybe a pumpkin spice latte. So many choices!
I agree 100% with Ana and Jimmy! How can you godamn respect someone after you civilly present them with IRREFUTABLE EVIDENCE that their preferred candidate is corrupt and not progressive, but they just shrug their shoulders and say "nope"?
I must be even more odd then I thought. I used to be a huge fan of hers. Then I investigated her. I could never trust her ever again. I felt like I'd been kicked in the stomach. I've been waiting for a candidate like Bernie Sanders for over three decades.
Saddened me when my friends, some of whom Ive known for many yrs, began calling me "Lazy" and a "Freeloader" once they knew I was Bernie supporter. Not once did they say those things before-hand.
agree. we Americans are like an abuse victim. we keep going back for more and they promise they will change... they have become masters of herding humans.
agree. we Americans are like an abuse victim. we keep going back for more and they promise they will change... they have become masters of herding humans.
I don't understand that. Why would people be so hesitant to change their opinion? Being open to change your opinion when confronted with evidence that you were wrong, that's simply a sign of maturity. Nothing wrong with that. I welcome every opportunity to change my opinion. It means that before, I was wrong on that issue.
been saying this for a while, politics to a lot of americans are like picking a sports team. you get behind somebody to root for and you will refuse, down to your core, to "switch teams" and it doesn't matter how logical it would be to do so. Hillary has more "fans" than Bernie does.
A note to Ana Kasparian: Don't have such high expectations for those around you, they will often disappoint. Road rage is worst in those who believe most people should be excellent drivers; their expectations are too high. In fact, a great deal of our anger is manifested by our high expectations for others that are eventually lost through their repetitive ignorance, misjudgment and laziness. Just accept what is happening around you while keeping to the path you know to be correct.
+pingpong wigwom He's an idiot because he wants a better future? Nothing is guaranteed for the future but I feel safer with Bernie running the country.
+ripyinkadare and of course Hillary is much better than the Republicans' candidate, whoever it ends up being. But to vote for Hillary during the primaries?!? Just so cowardly
Ana is on point, and I totally agree with her. I dislike Hilary supporters even more than trump supporters. At least trump supporters recognize that we have serious problems in this country.
Pretty much, lol. Im completely aware of hillary's problems. I'm also aware of what could and probably would happen if she's not elected. I'm a realist & ana isn't. So be it.
+DeviousXP Sorry, gotta disagree. TYT's attention to illegal activity is a much stronger case. Yes, obviously support for Sanders is in the forefront. The main topics, the main focus is not always about candidates. TYT's main focus is ALWAYS about justice!
+DeviousXP They haven't really changed. TYT is a show that comments on news and current events from progressive perspective. Sanders is the most progressive candidate.
+DeviousXP no no no that is because they happen to agree with his position with reasons, what clinton news network does is forge her image to an agenda, theres a huge difference, in other words what tyt does is shed light on bernie (bias ofcooourse) what cnn does is shed light on her "shadow"
Ana is so right! I think the same way, and I struggle with not engaging in vicious debates against the "pragmatic" Clinton supporters who remain so ignorant of the powerful corruption behind the Clinton machine.
I think we should support a more educated work force. It will benefit the country in the long run. Instead of having to import workers because our own workers are not trained or educated enough to take the advanced jobs.
Less the taking out loans and more the burden of ridiculous prices for students should be the issue. One textbook costing someone anywhere from 300 to 900 is ridiculous.
California has semi closed primaries. Californian's MUST register democrat or no party preference/undeclared in order to vote for Bernie. This must be done by MAY 23rd! Please spread the word
+TheMike1076 Sure, like: "If you don't agree with me, I have no respect for you", does she apply the same logic to religion? Last time I checked she was an atheist, so does that mean she doesn't respect muslims or hindus? "You should vote as I say because I know better" , "because I'm in the business". The same can be applied to Hannity, O'Reilly, etc.
I AGREE WITH ANA 100%! Even though there are still 19 CONTESTS LEFT, AND 1668 DELEGATES FOR GRABS, YOU ARE WRITING BERNIE OFF, CENK??? Shut up, I'm with Bernie, you downer! #STILLSANDERS #BERNIEORBUST #BERNIEOR3RD
+xls29999 this guy has spirit. this loss in new york made want to grab a bottle of rum and get drunk and feel sad that a guy like sanders who cares lost.
I STRONGLY disagree with Cenk. Politics is nothing like sports. People's lives aren't at risk if your team loses in sports.
true
I think you missed the point of his analogy.. maybe you should surf around the NHL and hockey subreddits with the playoffs going on right now and see if his analogy stands.
I think he meant when trying to explain why you support one team (political candidate) over another
That's why it's an analogy, not a direct comparison
Pieshka Coltic I didn't misunderstand. In sports, if people die or are injured, they're people who are players or supporters. The casualties of politics are almost always innocent bystanders
I lost a friend because he thought Obama was the literal ANTICHRIST and began a straight pride group in 2012.
Lmfao
I had a friend that thought Obama was the Antichrist too. It's hard to even hold a shred of respect for someone that has views like that.
Dude… I know two guys who have fetishes for Obama too. Weird Eh. Just chill out ya know.
Some people are so close-minded they're not worth your time at all.

Totally with Ana and Jimmy on this one. So difficult...
Hillary voters: "what does debate mean?"
Dumb motherfuckers who vote for Hillary Clinton
It's easier to fool a person than to convince them they've been fooled - Mark Twain
Perfectly explains Sanders supporters
THIS. IS. PERFECT!

R.I.P to all the friendships that have died during this political race.

She has the same administration he had on her speed dial. Like Henry Kissinger.
agh! hadn't even thought of that. they have many traits in common.

I identify with Ana and Jimmy.

So now you guys know what it feels like arguing with a feminist.
Insulting someone who's a woman is not sexist, it's insulting.
Insulting someone because she's a woman, that's sexist.
I agree with Ana, but my problem also includes people that support Trump. I can never look at them the same way

Congratulations Ana...Now u know what men go thru when we try to argue with women...
Oh man, I love Ana and Jimmy.
I'm with Ana and Jimmy.
I have a degree in atmospheric physics, most of my family gives me zero credit for it when they try to talk about climate change, so I feel your pain Ana, it is so frustrating.
You can't debate people making their decisions based on ignorance, gender and MOSTLY name recognition.
That is a very misguided concept of many Hillary Clinton supporters.

I love Ana. Finally, someone has it right.
I love John's reaction at 2:52.
+Robby R He's like damn Ana
I agree with Ana. We need to educate Hillary supporters.
Political discussions have made me realize that I don't know many intelligent, principled people.
"it is the mark of an educated mind to be able to entertain a thought without accepting it"- aristotle
Ana Kasparian lost her mind and straight up went the route of, "If you disagree with my opinion, you're wrong."

Everything Ana said about Hilary supporters is how i feel about the Bernie bros.

+Red Static you have it completely flipped my friend lol

Nothing funnier than Cenk and Ana talking about how open minded they are.
Anna is right. Bernie would be much better president for the American people.

So difficult dealing with Hillary supporters. Especially as a 28 year old, there is no reason not to be supporting Bernie among our generation

Ana, I get into this all the time. Thanks guys for talking this through :)
I feel exactly the same way.
I love Ana Kasparian
So basically this whole clip is about how much smarter they are than everyone else.
Pretty much, lol. Im completely aware of hillary's problems. I'm also aware of what could and probably would happen if she's not elected. I'm a realist & ana isn't. So be it.
Lol. I enjoy the passion of this channel :D
That was the angriest TYT have ever seen
+Techbubble this is nothing. watch some of the old videos from Bush era. Cenk has some real flip outs.
Just to annoy Ana i will vote for Hillary :3
I would highly recommend you do that if she is up against Donald Trump!😬
Congratulations, you played yourself.
Ur a dumbass
I'm a Bernie supporter, but I'm starting to find TYT as a one topic news outlet. It's basically the Bernie Sanders News Network.
+DeviousXP Is that why they talked about the Panama Papers?
+DeviousXP They really need to be careful that they don't turn into FOX News Left.
I find many TyT videos to be difficult to agree with, but this one -- especially the last half -- was both humorous and truthful in my mind.
Ana is so right! I think the same way, and I struggle with not engaging in vicious debates against the "pragmatic" Clinton supporters who remain so ignorant of the powerful corruption behind the Clinton machine.
+Moving Froward My prayers to you. Stay strong.
Student loans is a personal choice !! If u choose to go to college and take a loan your ass and your ass alone should pay it back not the taxpayers!!
@@oliviacooley1195 Yup its a racket.
But political science is so cool
I'm going to guess that Ana Kasparian's friends completely hate her after watching this video.
California has semi closed primaries. Californian's MUST register democrat or no party preference/undeclared in order to vote for Bernie. This must be done by MAY 23rd! Please spread the word
Soooooo true!! Like they are so ignorant and don't understand it's so frustrating.
Ana makes great points
+TheMike1076 Sure, like:
"If you don't agree with me, I have no respect for you", does she apply the same logic to religion? Last time I checked she was an atheist, so does that mean she doesn't respect muslims or hindus?
"You should vote as I say because I know better" , "because I'm in the business". The same can be applied to Hannity, O'Reilly, etc.
+MrTadabat Hannity? O'Reilly?
I AGREE WITH ANA 100%! Even though there are still 19 CONTESTS LEFT, AND 1668 DELEGATES FOR GRABS, YOU ARE WRITING BERNIE OFF, CENK??? Shut up, I'm with Bernie, you downer! #STILLSANDERS #BERNIEORBUST #BERNIEOR3RD
+xls29999 this guy has spirit. this loss in new york made want to grab a bottle of rum and get drunk and feel sad that a guy like sanders who cares lost.
I really like Cenk, Jimmy, and Ana, but I really am with Ana and Jimmy on this topic.
