In today's video we step away from the bus build and reconnect with nature for our mental health.
It has been 2 years of working on the biggest project we have ever undertaken and to say we're exhausted is an understatement.
Firewood collection has always been a favourite homesteading task of ours, and even now while travelling and being away from our own land it is something we can do for others and for our own little outdoor fires.
In 2024/2025 We will be taking our home on wheels around Australia to be a part of this epic trip get in touch via our email address below

When you're loading the trailer instead of tossing them in, place them in the trailer in rows.
Not only you get more in the trailer it will also distribute the weight of the load better and your little car will be able to pull more wood in one go.
    Have fun guys!
So nice to see Australian homesteading content 😊

Cutting firewood is definitely a good workout. I would really recommend wearing hearing protection while operating and working near the chainsaw. It will make a difference in your life in years to come.

We often do, Sam wears in ear ones with music and I often have MV overears, however I was coming and going often while he was chainsawing so yes I definitely did not today 😊❤️ thank you for your concern

I love the smell of fresh cut wood and stacking it really feels satisfying. We're actually having proper winter here and I'm enjoying the nightly fire so much , it's such a beautiful thing to watch flames before bed and feel deeply warmed inside. I hope you're warm enough on the bus. Before you know it , you'll be bussing around everywhere. Thanks for sharing lovelies ❤❤

Couldn't agree more! The whole process is so connecting and warming. Being here makes us miss home so much, but also love that we have this opportunity to travel, even if we're going very few km each time. One day the bigger trip will come.
Oh gosh winter in QLD, turns out no matter where we would've gone we'd be surrounded by frost haha!
The bus has been very cosy, we've added a few things that together have kept so much warmth in!
Thank you for sharing, you are so well spoken, I feel like you speak poems to my heart Naomi, such a great outlook ❤️❤️❤️

Just come in from my morning chores on the farm. Brought a wheelbarrow of firewood down to the house from the woodshed. I need to make sure I have more going into next Winter - you can never have too much! That looked like a nice tree for firewood too (ie not white gum, lol). I bought some Wedges from Stihl years ago, often handy if the chainsaw gets stuck. That weather you were talking about - has arrived here! Take care, Susan. xx

Yes it's great that you are already thinking ahead, it's so easy to forget and then you're stuck with a few very cold nights and you realise very quickly you need more!!
Oh yes it was a beauty, we couldn't even get to the trunk it was so large, the camera did not do it justice!
Yeh the wedge seems like a great tool better than a pipe I guess hahaha 🤣 he did so well, that was the only one that got stuck!

What a lovely looking Bush block.
I had the opportunity a number of years ago to purchase a property but found myself busy in the city and did lot do it.
Geez am sorry I didn’t for the same reasons as you. Now much more expensive, but bought a Caravan instead which is great. I will one day buy a small block though
    .Cheers,

One of the 18v chainsaws is handy to have as a backup for pinched bars. But of course they cost money. I've found my Makita 2 battery one is something I actually use a lot.

Hi Di and Sam getting back to what you love is a great thing and a nice way to say thanks. Great idea getting your belongings away out of the trailer. Smart idea with the handsaw Sam and the pole. Lot less effort. You done well. lol I found myself saying come on muscles when you were trying to hitch up the trailer. I would have helped if I could. 😜 main thing is you tried. I’m not sure who has the harder job here Di or Sam. I’m so proud of you both for all that you have achieved . I love your honest about the difficulties of it all as to many paint the romantic side to bus/van life. This is often the case as you know first hand. Poor tie. What did he do? Di that looks delicious. Good to see you looking out for yourself Sam. lol Sam he want some off course. I’m so feeling that fire. Chilling is a great idea. I love how you reminded everyone off mental health as to often over looked. Your still beings a teacher mate. Great video guys loved it.

@@matsommer5039 Thanks for sharing the tip for the wedge, a tool I hadn't considered yet seems quite affordable and useful. Not many people we know seem to have these, you'd think chainsaw companies would encourage the sale of these with chainsaws.
