Pittsburgh born and raised here and there are very few sandwiches like Primanti Bros! I've had em all my life. When I got married, I told my Brooklyn born and raised wife about Primanti Bros and she told me that a sandwich with french fries and coleslaw on it sounded disgusting. When we went to visit Pittsburgh, I took her to Primanti Bros and she ordered the Pastrami and Cheese. She took a bite and said "Oh Sh*t!" So, now, every time we go back to The Burgh, we HAVE to stop at Primanti Brothers! Love ya Pittsburgh!!!!!

That's a Pittsburgh answer. Bunch of blue collar potty-mouth plant workers, truck drivers, road crew guys,... blue collar as hell. I live about 3 miles from DeLuca's but never go there... line is always too long and there are 100 places just like it all over Pittsburgh. The one near me is called Pamela's P&G diner. They had Michele Obama come there just to try the pancakes. They make them super thin with a crispy edge... outstanding. Our whole city is like that, no frills, nothing fancy, but delicious. We have some white collar people but they all live out in the suburbs and there are "fancy" areas that cater to those people. But downtown Pittsburgh is all yinzers who talk like pirates... "eh, yinz try deez fuckin pancakes? That shits good, eh?"
I watch these episodes while I eat dinner and it makes me full instantly. I could never ever do any of the challenges for the sheer amount of food intake, it's inhuman. These are meals that can feed a small army for a whole day. I would be curious to see the nutritional value and caloric intake of any of these challenges.
Went to Pittsburgh years ago and went to both Primantti Bros and Deluccas. Both lived up to the hype. Saw Adams picture up on the wall at Deluccas. If you go try the 2 lb omelet.

These look damn good. If i ever visited the states, i'd want to try the regional foods, so many of them look so damn good. My dad has toured in 46 states (and loads more places all over the world) with the bands he's been in, he's asked me if i wanted to come with him and i would if he went back to the states (it's been 5 years since he has) I'd totally chow down on one of those beastly sandwiches. I'd get no tomatoes though, fresh tomatoes are the red ring of death on sandwiches, and ketchup is the devil's piss. I like a good tomato based pasta sauce, or passata on a pizza, but fresh or fried tomatoes and ketchup are satan's condiments, nen of those they ruin a good sarni. Up here in Northumbria we can get a "Ultimate breakfast stottie" at the market, 12" diamater stottie bun, loads of British smoked back bacon, 3-4 lincolnshire sausages sliced in half, fried black pudding, 2-3 fried eggs (i always get hard yolks, one time i forgot to ask, bit into it and it squirted yolk on the right sleeve of my olive green jacket, when it dried it looked like a huge cum stain, my girlfriend i had at the time asked me if it was when she saw it) One of those sarnis will certainly fill you up and get you ready for the day. I go for HP sauce on mine too, omnomnom it's the best way to have a breakfast on the go, but the fried bread you get with a full english, oho that stuff is the dog's bollocks, but you can't take a full English and eat it sat down on a bench by the Tyne, sat at Whitefriars (the ultimate out of the way spot in the toon, when i was a teen i'd smoke doobies there and then go off to get food) or in the park. (the place that does the sarnis i'm on about is in the toon in Newcastle)

I had one at PNC Park...maybe the original location would have been better....and I could see the potential for a great sandwich. Unfortunately, the fries had ZERO salt on them which made the sandwich bland. And the bread while very tasty, disintegrated on the bottom from all the moisture. I believe to this day that if I had eaten at the restaurant instead of the Ballpark, then it would have been damn near a religious experience. I intend to test that theory someday soon. Oh, and BTW...that fish sandwich looked awesome. Going with that next time! Lol

So many franchised locations are scattered around the area now that it seems every suburban strip mall has a Primanti's. I drive past three of them to get to the original location in the Strip District. Long live Toni and the hot Italian sausage and provolone!
Went to Scranton last year for a convention for the tv show The Office, tried Primanti Bros and had it for lunch and dinner all 3 days I was there. It is off the chain!!! I still think about those sandwiches lol

That's Pittsburgh in a nutshell. Nothin fancy, nothing "gourmet" or over the top. Just blue-collar, down to earth, gigantic heaps of food made with love that taste like a million bucks. If you are drinking or tail-gate partying at a baseball/football game, and you wander over to Primanti's at midnight, pull up and order a bacon and cheese, or a capacola and cheese, squirt that SOB down with a bit of hot sauce or ketchup (just a teeny bit), you are in heaven. We don't do fancy, we just do delicious and filling. I HATE cole slaw but I will eat it on a Primanti's every time. First, because you don't ask... the magic is in the combination, you remove ONE ITEM and you aren't getting the full effect, and second because it isn't like mushy creamy cole slaw, its an Italian vinegar slaw that has a sweetness to it. It's unique and doesn't even taste like cabbage, I dont know how she does it.
Roger Collins I think all of the fries suck up the flavor of the meat. It's too much starch so I get it on the side. Their cheap crappy pizza is killer ! I love the grease, crust and chili flakes in it.

In my neck of the woods, I live in New Castle, PA and try to make it to the PGH restaurant as much as possible. Even though the Cranberry TWP one is good, nothing like the original :)
I went there once. Perfect representation of the city of Pittsburgh. My only complaint was that they had a mural of Mario Lemieux on the wall with him holding his stick the wrong way.
I know that breakfast dish is bomb but it’s anything but healthy lol Despite all the veggies it’s just absorbing all the grease on the griddle and then absorbs even more of it when the egg and sausage sits on top of it. Then all the potatoes All the salt too. That dish is at the least 1500 calories

That's Pittsburgh in a nutshell. Nothin fancy, nothing "gourmet" or over the top. Just blue-collar, down to earth, gigantic heaps of food made with love that taste like a million bucks. If you are drinking or tail-gate partying at a baseball/football game, and you wander over to Primanti's at midnight, pull up and order a bacon and cheese, or a capacola and cheese, squirt that SOB down with a bit of hot sauce or ketchup (just a teeny bit), you are in heaven. We don't do fancy, we just do delicious and filling.
I HATE cole slaw but I will eat it on a Primanti's every time. First, because you don't ask... the magic is in the combination, you remove ONE ITEM and you aren't getting the full effect, and second because it isn't like mushy creamy cole slaw, its an Italian vinegar slaw that has a sweetness to it. It's unique and doesn't even taste like cabbage, I dont know how she does it.
The first time I ever tried tried them, I ate there 3 times in one day. Their original location is by far the best.

Roger Collins I think all of the fries suck up the flavor of the meat. It's too much starch so I get it on the side. Their cheap crappy pizza is killer ! I love the grease, crust and chili flakes in it.

In my neck of the woods, I live in New Castle, PA and try to make it to the PGH restaurant as much as possible. Even though the Cranberry TWP one is good, nothing like the original :)
I went there once. Perfect representation of the city of Pittsburgh. My only complaint was that they had a mural of Mario Lemieux on the wall with him holding his stick the wrong way.

I know that breakfast dish is bomb but it’s anything but healthy lol Despite all the veggies it’s just absorbing all the grease on the griddle and then absorbs even more of it when the egg and sausage sits on top of it. Then all the potatoes All the salt too. That dish is at the least 1500 calories
