6:57 Dude just contrasted joining the Episcopalians against being faithful to Christ. 😬

100%, was a gross and unnecessary place to go.

He probably should have just said liberal apostate mainline denominations rather than just calling out the Episcopal Church since that is not the only denomination that has drifted into apostasy.

I get the reality that there are always people that call things out earlier than others. But I do not think this answers the critique he is getting at all.
The end of the answer is actually a significant part of the problem. He helped foster the current extreme views against women in ministry and isn’t taking any responsibility for that. And he has a very narrow view of what it means to faithfully follow Christ. Is he is throwing the Episcopalians under the bus his view of the church is too small. And that is why he is being critiqued.

I think his answer misses the heart of the question. If youve ever been at an organization and told leadership there’s a problem and they kicked you out for calling it out but once the problem actually came and someone who didn’t call it out from the beginning calls it out and and gets a book deal the people who called it out originally feel like they should have gotten the credit..and to be honest they should.
No one should be surprised that the SBC..an org founded on the defense of slavery, who did little to fight for civil rights despite their influence, and waited until 2009 after we had a black president to apologize for overtly defending slavery should be surprised or shocked at how they’ve behaved in recent years..
There can be two healthy parties but it can’t go back to the Republican Party that allows for this kind of ideology to wait in the wings for their next opportunity..until the southern strategy is exercised out politics in general we’ll never be done with this

He really avoided answering question and taking any ownership; the truth is Moore helped create the monster that tried to eat him.

I was wondering if you were going to cover this. I kinda expected it to show up on the main podcast the week after he talked about Jesus's words being decried as woke by Evangelicals.

Evangelicals are not faithful to Christ. They are faithful to their earthly leaders.

That’s your assumption! It’s like I don’t agree with you therefore, I “not faithful to God”. How absurd!

Hard to imagine we sit in this spot, where the future of American democracy will be decided by those who claim holiness is a required fruit of saving faith, yet do not expect it from their leaders. Beware, the wolf is at the door, and it just might be the elect so seal the fate of this once great nation. Wisdom is first of all peaceable, kind, gentle. Are your favorite political candidates, peaceable, kind, gentle? Pastors bare a huge responsibility for this. So afraid to preach repentance and let the Holy Spirit convict people. So worried about the numbers. Now, you’ve fiddled while a once thriving movement has fallen because you neglect the most fundamental of Christian doctrines, repentance. How did we allow the narrative to be changed from preaching the gospel to winning elections. Better to lose elections and retain our integrity before God, for it is from Him alone that we receive our reward.

What’s wrong with Evangelicalism is that there are people like Russell Moore in it.

SBC theology gave us the Civil War, anti-racial reconciliation actions, and Donald Trump. Bad fruit from a bad tree.

The SBC, along with Southern Methodists and Southern Presbyterians split from their northern brethren explicitly over the issue of slavery.
The SBC Faith and Message says all parts of the Bible are to be treated equally. Yet, as Christians, they should be paying attention to the Great Commandments and their importance: "on these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets." These are *not* of equal importance to other parts of the Bible. They are the key to understanding the responsibilities of Christians and to interpreting the Bible.
The "inerrancy" and "literalism" of the white SBC apply only to the judgment parts of the Bible. Love Your Neighbor is deliberately left out. By contrast, traditional Black SBC adherents also claim inerrancy and literalism but they strongly emphasize Love Your Neighbor - as they should.@@dennykeaton9701
