Jacques de Molay supposedly said prior to his execution that the pope and the king of France would have to answer to God for their crimes. They died shortly after his execution. Also, the Vatican finally admitted that the charges of heresy were false and posthumously cleared the Templars of any wrongdoing. When did that happen? In 2007 after papers were found in the archives of the Vatican.

I have never understood how an elite military force with immense wealth and an impeccable intelligence network could be taken so easily - especially if the order was so worldly as it was accused to be.
It's easy enough comparatively to win the military war, but when you've lost the political one, you're ultimately screwed. The templars lost the political war before a sword got drawn.

I went through the DeMolay "training" as a young teenager. I even remember the secret handshake. I didn't really understand it and thought the rituals seemed weird, so I dropped out, angering my dad. I suppose I'm proof it is not for everyone. Best wishes for you, your son and family.

The Grand Master cursed the King France and the Pope that both would die within the year. Both did exactly that.

As a teenager, I was a member of the Templar Chapter, Order of DeMolay in Rock Island, IL. For our sports teams, we called ourselves the Templar Knights.

The chapter I was in (Montana) would host fundraisers like spaghetti dinners, sell concessions at local events, and build a Haunted Maze every Halloween.
We used the money to fund paintball weekends, camping and ski trips.
What a coincidence, I belonged to Templar Chapter in Pittsburgh. We were the Mother Chapter of the east. In 1923 Templar Chapter's original class was about 2,200.

You said at the end King Philip benefited from the Templar and was out of debt after all the dust been settled. I think the king did it just by confiscating all their land. One of the things they were eager to do were to break into the vault at their French HQ and seize all the treasures inside. In the French harbor any week, there were usually many Templar owned ships , but a day or so before the 13 th all the Templar owned ships sailed and disappeared forever. When the king's men broke into the vault, it was totally empty. Both the king and pope died soon after as per the curse by the grand master. I also do not believe in coincidences, but shortly after 1307, a group of farmers subsisted on the slopes of the Alps suddenly decided to go into banking themselves. They were most likely started by a few Templars , escaping French prosecution, and settled at what we call Switzerland today. Templars had a reputation of pious and were well respected and trusted. That was the real reason why they got so rich so fast. They would have a very dim view of what the modern Swiss bankers did when they ripped off a group of Jews after WW2 and your bank info are no longer secret with them.

At last a history video on this history channel instead of current day politics.
Admittedly I knew most of it having read Dan Jones’s The Templars: The Rise & Fall of God’s Holy Warriors but a brilliant summary nonetheless.
Will we be seeing a show on the Knights Hospitalers given they famously saved Europe from Islamic conquest at the 1565 Siege of Malta and unlike the Templars & Teutonics they still exist to this day.
I thoroughly enjoy your honest and truthful historical videos. Thank you. I was under the impression that some of the Templar Knights made it to Switzerland, which helped the cantons maintain independence, and eventually set up the Swiss banking system.

The Knights Hospitaller and the Knights of Malta are one and the same. The current name of this Order is The Sovereign Military-Hospitaller Order of Saint John of Jerusalem of Rhodes and of Malta.
And the modern Knights Malta are subject to the Jesuit order and people should do some research in that area. They have censored a lot of their history. Eric Jon Phelp’s work “Vatican assassins: wounded in the house of my friends” it’s 1800 pages of pdf research on the topic. Do yourself a favor and take a peak at how the world really runs. Also Anthony C. Sutton’s books dispel the common historical narrative of modern nation politics as he tracks the banks that run both sides of the global empire (2 headed eagle 33*).

The Teutonic order came close... and like the Templars, they affected history for centuries, bringing us things like East Prussia (now Kaliningrad), which was one of the issues that the Austrian painter - who adopted many of both sets of knights' beliefs) used to invade Poland. The Teutonic knights were authorized by the pope to only operate in the Holy Land but found it mnore lucrative to set up slave trading by raiding the non-Germanic peoples around them and taking the captured prisoners down to the Med to sell them directly or indirectly to the muslims.

Wow’sa that’s an awesome story, I had heard for the templars but never really understood how they came about and what their purpose was and how they were dissolved, interesting so I saw a property for sale in Umbria Italy that had a Knights Templar plaque on the external wall above the front door and a hidden underground bunker next to the house which was berried and accidentally uncovered by recent owners
The last resting place of the templairs is actualy in portugal we have a "temple" built by them here, and they actualy reemerged with a diferent name, called " the order os christ" wich Heanry the navigator was part of
Excellent presentation on the Templars. Could you follow up on how the Templars melted away beyond the Pope's and Phillip's reach? You started to hit on some of this at the end of the video: England, Scotland, Ireland, Tuconic Knights, and the other brother sects where the Templars resurrected their order in secret. There is a profound story here that needs to be told.
I am looking forward to more videos like this.
And if only the actual truth was known then maybe it could be made into a video.....however the mystic of the Templars comes from the fact that there is rumours, myths, stories and legends, but no demonstrative evidence on the subject.
