TRUTH about "Hanoi" Jane Fonda - Forgotten History

  • During WW1 and WW2 America's celebrities such as sports figures, actors and musicians joined the war effort supporting the troops overseas and most even enlisted in the military to serve in whatever capacity they could. During the Korean War, a few celebrities still served especially athletes although there was not the enthusiasm for the support as in prior conflicts. But Vietnam was completely different. Many celebrities actually condemned the military fighting the war as well as the government and presidents in office. But one actress took it to another level and she should have been tried for treason according to some. Who is Jane Fonda? Written and Hosted by Colin D. Heaton. Forgotten History is a 10th Legion Pictures Production.

You can feel how you want about any war or conflict, but the second you put the soldiers of your own country at greater risk of harm by siding with the other side, you’ve embraced evil. Those soldiers had no real choice in the matter. They didn’t want to be there, they didn’t want to kill other people (obviously there are outliers who were going to do horrible things) and telling them that they should give themselves over to become POWs is the kind of thinking you wouldn’t even expect from the most ideologically regressive people around, but there she is and even today, we have people who would side with even the more horrible people alive if the winds told them to.

I was in Vietnam in 67-68.
It was bad enough being in Vietnam. But when you find candy cane, Christmas peppermint in NVA backpacks. It was like a kick in the nuts. It was very depressing, causing low morale. I have never watched one of her movies since returning from Vietnam. May she rot in hell. I will never forget or forgive her. I believe her plea for forgiveness is total BS and she should have been treated as a traitor.

The damage Jane Fonda not only supported but created is far beyond that of a traitor. She helped bring the open woke agenda and generational indoctrination of hate towards patriotism of America today. The U.S. constitutional republic has been taken from within. It was her work and many like her who helped this fall of our republic and the rise of the regime that is now taking over the world. You'll know I am right when you see America disarmed over this next decade.

I had the honor to work with one of the POW pilots shot down and captured in Vietnam. He was in that horrific place for 7.5 years. I was his first officer in the airline we worked for. He would describe the brutal torture he endured at the hands of the guards at the Hanoi Hilton, and how that traitor, Jane Fonda, caused him and his fellow prisoners so much more torture both before her visit and after. She should be locked up for the rest of her life for what she did to those men and this nation.

Had she protested the war as someone who saw the war as a boon to what Eisenhower would have called the military industrial complex’s boon to their bottom line at the expense of young American lives. But instead she backed the communist mindset and was indeed a traitor. Vietnam vets I have spoken with had as a major complaint that ‘we weren’t allowed to win’. The weapons makers would gladly have let the war go on indefinitely to keep their coffers full.

I agree with everything you said, and more. The "more" part is that despite the folly of engaging in a war with no objective other than to be at war, there's something many people don't realize: Once Nixon came into office and resumed bombings in the north, North Vietnam was beaten and that's when they finally started serious talks of peace and ending the war. It was not an American defeat as it's portrayed practically everywhere, despite the fact too many in government and the military ensured it was not an American victory. The loss of the Vietnam war happened when America (Congress) failed to uphold its obligation to support the South.

@@christopherhamlin23 - Who was U.S. President from 1969 to 1974? President Nixon began the process of "Vietnamization" immediately on entering office and withdrew practically all U.S. forces by 1973. The Peace Accords also involved a ceasefire, which was broken on several occasions, which lead to a resumption of the takeover of the south after all the allied combat troops were withdrawn.
Also, and I didn't realize this until now, there was also a ban on importation of war material into South Vietnam (except on a replacement basis) - so I was wrong on that point - it turns out Congress wasn't continuing to pump money into the lost cause. So even though I hadn't considered that part, it turns out Vietnam was even less a "loss" for the U.S. than I originally implied.
So what obligations were placed on those who were supposed to be overseeing the ceasefire when North Vietnam and the Viet Cong resumed fighting to take over South Vietnam? It isn't as if the North Vietnamese government (or the PRG) had the moral authority that came with being popularly elected governments either.

Ex except even words as well as actions have consequences. Being free means a level of self-regulation to not abuse that freedom. Which is what she did. You can go to North Korea or could have gone to the Soviet Union, but how you act there determines your intent. Tokyo Rose probably should not have gotten off so lightly herself, but she was in extenuating circumstances.
Fonda knowingly aided the enemy with their propaganda. That propaganda was then used to turn the American people against its soldiers. Not the government that ordered them there but the men who were thrust into chaos. I know this because my uncle fought in Vietnam. 3 tours. Was a POW on that last tour. He came home to some not so savory comments after having his knees crushed repeatedly. My friend's dad( who treated me like one of his own kids) was also in at the time but was at another base in another part of the world. He was constantly harassed and attacked physically and had nothing to do with the fighting.
You tell me how humane that is. People who had no ability to actually change anything. I want you to understand that neither of them mentioned Fonda to me. I had to read about what she did later. Freedom to say what you want and freedom to go where you want has implications of understanding that it includes no harm to the others around you. She did harm to others around her and by doing that technically forfeited her freedom. She's lucky to still have her freedom because North Vietnam or North Korea or China or Britain currently wouldn't allow her to speak the way she still does because they don't take anti-government speech very well.

At this late stage this 87 year old should be convicted, though a public apology and a week in a solitary confinement cell would be at least a symbolic punishment. The POWs were punished much worse due to her presence in North Vietnam. A friend of over 40 years spent his career working for one of Ted Turner's companies here in Atlanta.
When Hanoi Jane and Turner were an item, she was taken around to various departments in the Turner organization.
One day she was introduced to an employee who was a Vietnam Veteran. Upon the introduction, the veteran replied: "Your father was a great actor...." 😊

Hanoi Jane had the right to protest against the war. The POWs that she betrayed, and every other veteran took an oath to defend the Constitution that guarantees her that right. What Hanoi Jane, Donald Sutherland, Ramsey Clark, and John Kerry never had was the right to commit treason. Men like Jim Stockdale and Jeremiah Denton were tortured mercilessly for weeks following Hanoi Jane's traitorous publicity stunt. I hope that one day she has the chance to feel the same pain that she brought upon brave POWs, so that she might learn from the experience.

It's so common to see documentaries of the youth demonstrating against the youth who went to Vietnam. My Dad volunteered at eighteen, received two Purple Hearts and retired as a 1st Sargent.
He was my role model and an example of the youth who tried to do the right thing for freedom even when the world ridiculed them. As a veteran myself, I thank all of you for your service. Also, I thank you for your service Dr Heaton.

In 1998 I was visiting the Vietnam War memorial since I lost some friends who made the ultimate sacrifice. The Vietnam Veterans association had a stand where they sold items to benefit the association. Proudly displayed was a Hanoi Jane urinal target. I wanted to bring a few hone for my Vietnam veteran friends. However the veteran working the stand informed me that they were out of this item. He told me that the Hanoi Jane urinal targets were so popular they couldn't keep them in stock!!

Those who served in Vietnam really got screwed over. By the administration and demented elements of the general public. They did and do deserve far better than what they got. My late step father did a tour over there during the conflict. Him and my mother got a full honor guard for their funeral last year. They died within minutes of each other. They met at Fairchild AFB in the early 80's where they both stationed at.

My WWII US Navy veteran grandfather never forgave her and was angry she never faced charges. I can't understand how her time in North Vietnam could be described as anything but treason. That she wasn't prosecuted for it was a miscarriage of justice. Not prosecuting traitors has led to Generals believing they can ignore orders from POTUS to withdraw troops from Syria for example, or warn their enemy counterparts if we are going to attack.

My stepdad fought in that war , he fought with honor and bravery. He was always astounded and heartbroken at how they were received at home after risking their lives for their country and the ideals of western civilization. It is a national shame that the warriors of Korea and Vietnam are not treated with the honor that they deserve . Most people don’t even understand that their sacrifices led to the eventual defeat of global communism even tho it took decades and many wars. Like your everyday freedoms? Thank a veteran
