Hope we continue to see more of Harper. Informative with a nice, laid back personality. He did a great job contextualizing the drink, explaining ingredients, and demonstrating the recipe. Keep him.
Thank you for the detailed education. Your commitment to perfection shines through. Perhaps one day you will be mixing drinks to go with some of the food being made on this channel?
A classic Daiquiri!!!! YES. No one knows how to make this....the bartender assumes it's a strawberry Daiquiri or some other fruit. My mom used to drink these back in the 50's and '60's. I always got a little sip...they were divine even then. A Daiquiri or a Sidecar are my go to cocktails at an uptown bar.
0.5oz rich Demerara syrup (2:1) 1oz fresh lime juice 2oz white rum (Banks 5 Island) ^ rum measure assumed since not specified shake with fat grapefruit or orange peel fine strain into cold glass lime wheel garnish
Harper I/we LOVE you! (The 'we' being a roomful of gay men on a Friday night ... maybe you know how that goes)! Eye candy aside, your videos thoroughly explain the how the why and the history of each cocktail. Hope you post a lot more episodes. (And please show off that hairy chest; we've only caught glimpses of it!)
Yes, you can! Per Harper: "It’s going to add a bit of weight to the daiquiri. But play around with it - that’s the point of the daiquiri, to have fun."
yeah, because why talk about the history? Why talk about the value of fresh ingredients and reasons for his decisions? Just stfu and make the drink amiright? /s

The classic daiquiri is my absolute favorite cocktail. Thanks for this recipe and walkthrough.
Hadn't seen the addition of citrus peel in the shaker. Will definitely try that!

I’m always sad when the bartender responds to my request for a daiquiri with, “We don’t have a blender.”
Looks delicious and refreshing!

Can I use dark rum?

Where did bananas come into it? I remember my mother talking fondly of banana daiquiris.
I think that's just the American thing of toss X frozen fruit in with rum and bam it's a "daquiri" 🙄
I remember them drinking banana daiquiris in Cuba in the Godfather Part II.
I want to be him so bad!
5 minutes in and the drink still isn’t made

Have you tried getting a box of $4.00 wine and straw to help you make it to the 8 minute mark?
@@GregCurtin45 it wasn’t engaging or concise, just repetitive.
I found the video fascinating and informative, sounds like you have an attention span issue, an unfortunate lack of intellectual curiosity, or both
