This is definitely not easy to ride but it looks fun to ride. You all were there most beautiful time of year. This was definitely unexpected trail not at all typical rail trail. Great ride! Looking forward to the next one👍
Dude, you were in my backyard. I live right off the trail. It’s such a fun ride and kind of a hidden gem here in the Poconos. You did a great job highlighting the beauty of the DWG. Enjoy Nutmeg.
I rode a portion of this in early October of this year with my hybrid bike. I was able to ride a good bit of this on 40mm tires EXCEPT for a section between Conasaugh and the Marie Zimmerman House which turned into a hike-a-bike section. I bailed out and rode down the main road to return to my start point. Great video!
Wow, my neck of the woods growing up! My brother raised his kids in Blairstown and his daughter lives not far from Milford. I remember all the protests trying to stop the feds from flooding the area. It was a huge deal for years. We used to ride Old Mine road, but I haven’t been there for probably twenty plus years. Stokes State Forest and High Point is really nice, and there is extensive and beautiful riding above Port Jervis.
Fun seeing you on the McDade trail, I live only about 25 miles from there and have only ridden about 10 miles of it. On the New Jersey side there is an interesting Craft Village called Peter’s Valley with historic buildings and a school that teaches historic craft techniques. Worth a visit if you get there again.
It was rough and tough and never boring. We purposely skipped the insane climb on the lower end. You have better river views. When we were there in mid September 20 gravel bike riders came screaming by us twice. Thanks for the memories.
Looks like an awesome ride. In the fall and winter I often ride in areas where it is legal to hunt. During those times I have a cheap, lightweight vest I wear that is the same orange color as the hunters wear. Even a bright orange bandana tied around your upper arm is better than nothing. Cheers!
As much as I hate when the leaves drop it definitely opens up many views you don't get in summer. I think some of the descents on this part of the trail would be a bit sketchy in snow - the GoPro doesn't show it but they were up to 17%!
Nice network & as you state, it don't get no better! Over the past 30+ years there have been less than a handful of recorded instances of a cyclist getting shot that I know of. 1 in Switzerland (2018) and another in NH (cyclist survived). My guess is the motion profile of a bicycle is *nothin* like game. Hunters regularly shoot each other / people walking and dogs, but it's incredibly rare with cyclists.
Wow. I’ve riden part of this and I have lived in Philly for almost 25 years. I DID NOT know the history!!! It’s definitely a great area to hike, bike and camp.
Beautiful foliage. I should meander my way to that area. Though I'm positive I'm not ready for those climbs. Spring, perhaps. Bags matchy matchy the bike color. I dig this. Good vid.
Beautiful rides. National Parks and National Recreation Areas are administered by the National Park Service and are managed for the public and different interests. National Forests are resource driven, administered by the Department of Agriculture. Recreation is just one resource.
but kind of the level of protection and what they are allowed to be used for, correct? There were no law enforcement rangers when the CVNP was just a CVNRA. I bet there are amazing hikes here.
From Dingmans Ferry up to Milford it’s a lot of hiking only and you have to ride the road. Probably 30% (north of Dingmans Ferry) is not bike friendly or at best very technical.
Respectfully: Been having discussions lately with my buds about trailer hitch bike mounts and how when loaded they hide, at least partially, the lights of the car. At 11 seconds, that looks like you've got most of yours hidden. Thoughts?
I dunno, man, looks pretty gravelly to me. On Minnewaska they called that "cinder trail", but that was a finer crushed stone of grey slate or something. I LOVE The mainstem . Both the feeder branches , west and east branch are fun to ride as road rides as well. The east branch is insanely pretty. The delaware system is my favorite place to fish. Teeming with wild brown and rainbows.
I would imagine actual cinder trail would be made up of a coal related type mix. it probably became sort of a catch all term along the way to describe a lot of fine aggregate of undetermined origins as well.
Oh yeah - this is much bigger gravel than the Minnewaska Trails. So cool that we did those on this trip last year. Two of our favorite "gravelly" rides now.
@@TimFitzwater Let's do some intense DOT research.lol. Shout out to the mafia down there for a great semi-pave . If you wipe on that though, you will be so fucked.
For sure. I only know what I read in Wikipedia and on some signs. I might see if there are any decent docs on YT. THere was an interesting Frontline about the Cuyahoga Valley - one of the few pieces to give the locals perspective.
Serendipitous discoveries make adventure more epic. Thanks for sharing.
Sorry about the crash! Glad you’re not in bad shape. Those scraps on the knee will take some time to heal. Really enjoy your channel.
Looks like a nice trail, Thanks for inviting us along
Very cool. It's amazing how many times biking will give you the blessings of fun surprises like this.
That trail looks amazing! I'm sure Edmond is happy you are back!
He is so happy!!
I spend my summers around that area, I can’t believe I never rode that trail. Will check it out for sure.
Looking forward to the rest of the series! Always enjoy your perspective on the travel videos.
That sunset on your ride. 🤩
Crazy beautiful ride. I can’t wait for the other videos!
Thanks! The weather stayed this good all trip! So many sunsets!
très beau film......cela fait rêver......merci !

Awesome video. Loved scenery. Looking forward to the next video. 👏👏
What an awesome ride and trail. Thanks for sharing. Looking for Mears to your Nutmeg coverage. I haven’t heard of that event before.
Bluegrass music on an autumn ride montage is a nice touch
Thanks! Its all I could here when I was editing so I knew I had to try and find something decent.
Beauty of a trail!

Lovely. Thanks for this.
I definitely want to check this out and I'm bringing my hardtail mountain bike!
It'd be great on a hardtail!
Stunning!

This is surprising. When I think of the Eastern states, i think of wall to wall people. Yes, sometimes my ignorance even astounds me. Good video.
I think that is exactly why this is so cool - a little piece of chill in the middle of that all.
Thanks!
Sweet bridge action upcoming 6:21

Nice! I would definitely like to get back and do more exploring - hikes and biking. Thanks for the tip.

🤘😍👍 Beautiful ride & vid!!!
Delaware Water Gap also has great canoeing and spicy rock climbing.
I don't climb but I could definitely see coming back to hike and canoe.
Hey man, we are from Ohio. Gradients like that make us do the walk of shame 😆

Beautiful trail. While fall is probably optimal, seems like would be a cool snow ride - maybe first snow of the year for example.

Awesome. Bookmarked!
I would definitely like to see what the rest of it is like!

Some beautiful light on the video! Love your videos! What bars are on the Gunnar?
Thanks! They are the Velo Orange Granola Bars.
National Park, Forest, and Rec Areas are designated that way by their intended use, not as a rank. Cool vid! Great backpacking along the ridge there.

I learned this the hard way. Definitely not a quick out and back.
Do you know if the rest of the trail is like this? I assume it would be from our drive.

I also consider cinder to be smoother and smaller than the kind of gravel this was.

The Teton Dam failed in 1976, I think the last major dam built in the US. Be interesting to know if that event influenced this project.

So weird when you're looking down and seeing my bmx shoes on someone else.
Love the BMX Vans - bought this pair for the trip.
Sheetz and Wawa are both PA establishments. I always find it odd where they each are/aren't.
We have Sheetz here in Ohio but not Wawa.
@TimFitzwater And we have Wawa here in coastal VA but not Sheetz. 😄 Northern VA and up into PA has both.
too close !?ouch
What do you mean?
@@TimFitzwater tepees and covered wagon being too close. great dad joke
