Marcy gets possessed

The fact that the Core actually smiles and laughs while possessing Marcy proves that it's not just another emotionless logical artificial intelligence. It has a rather vile, cruel and even sadistic personality that combined with its ancient knowledge and higher comprehension, that's just terrifying.
Makes sense, since from what Andrias says coupled with the hints that some of Marcy's personality might still be shining through, the Core is basically a bunch of dead Amphibians sharing an artificial noggin.
Wait. IT DOES WHAT NOW?!
Don't forget it still retains some of Marcy's traits like her clumsiness and fav for red velvet cupcakes with ube frosting
@@katiekim6034 That only came out today, I made this comment a month ago.
Obviously they have a personality like that, King Andrias’ father is horrible
If the show wasn't targeting a younger audience, Marcy would bleed from eyes, nostrils and ears. I'm convinced about it.

Matt should consider writing horror after Amphibia is all said and done. After watching this episode I can see he has a real...talent for it 😬
It's more directing in my eye, i mean Guess who Made the decision to put marcy's slowed and distorted scream as an end credits?
Edit: aged badly it's just rumor, but with that red sillhouete shot of Marcy my POINT might still stands
@@christofera.amadeus8704 where can I hear thay :0
He admitted to being a big horror buff in an interview.
He should put it on Netflix or HBO Max.
I think the horror in this works because it isn't a full on horror show, it has quick minutes of horror that really catches you off guard
I do appreciate the fact that Andrias isn’t deriving pleasure from this, and that his fondness for Marcy wasn’t a *complete* lie. (Though obviously his loyalty to his master and his ambitions outweigh it, as was apparent in “True Colors...”)
Really makes him a much more dynamic villain
I wonder if that Crown affects his thought process.
@@sebas8225 I like your theory
I liked that fact that he really did beg and plead for Marcy to be sparred and save her from the core. It goes to show that there is a side of him that regrets what he did as evidenced by him looking away and pleading with the core
@@sebas8225 well no because he takes it off
After the most recent episode I can see this way more
1:19 The sound of her screaming, I don’t know why but it really scares me and makes me think about what is going to happen to her throughout the rest of the season.
Reminds me on how the Mind Flayer possessed Will from Stranger Things
That was the child inside you watching.
I get flashbacks to the chips in She-Ra.
We know Marcy is obviously stuck in her own mind, and unless she's disconnected from the hive mind, she's unable to even ask for help.
This series better end with Anne and Sasha saving their previous best friend!
It’s not her screaming but still it’s pretty disturbing
Her scream will haunt our dreams.

I hope they show this scene having repercussions to her mental health, that sounds horrible but it also sucks to see shows making characters go through a lot of tragic stuff and have no backlash from it, just acting like it never happened, so I’m hoping when she’s free it shows her going to therapy or something like that
This. This is what I want^^^
Yeah, kind of like what they did in Steven Universe and Legend of Korra. It would be a lot more realistic and tragic.

So…you think she’s just gonna tell her therapist
“OK, so I got teleported to a parallel world by a magical box and everyone in that world was a frog and then I got kidnapped by the king and possessed by a giant evil robot monster”
I mean, you assume she is alive and her brain didn't get fried in that scene.
"Honestly, I like you Marcy. Always have."
Says the guy who stabbed her through the chest nine episodes ago.
I find Andrias always being fond of Marcy hard to believe.
He himself said that he argued with the Core, pleaded with it to choose someone other than Marcy. But he ultimately gave in to its demands.
He can definitely like Marcy, just not enough that his own desires are stamped out

Also Matt: “Wanna see me do it again?”
I like how Andreas doesn’t watch the full takeover and looks away he knows what he’s doing is wrong but he thinks he needs to conquer all for the core and his ancestors
Exactly
Did anyone not hear what Andrias said? "I begged the core to consider an alternative host" and when March was getting possessed by the core he turned his head trying not to see if happen, meaning that he doesn't like what he is doing.
Same here, I started crying when marcy was screaming while the core downloaded it's consciences into her
Tim Shea he probably has Bipolar disorder
@@sebas8225 what the hell he doesn’t
@@sebas8225 your saying because he stabbed Marcy but that was because the core needed a host and also he put her in a healing tank thing and also it was also because the girls were trying to go back to earth and he couldn’t let them as they would let the world know about the invasion so no he does not have bipolar disorder
Whilst he obviously didn't enjoy this particular act because he had some genuine fondness for Marcy, that doesn't change the fact that he wholly went through with it, or all of the dog-kicking he did towards Marcy in 'True Colors' BEFORE he impaled her. Also don't forget Andrias' sheer needless glee when he said he was looking forward to strip-mining Amphibia's remaining resources. From what we've seen of Andrias, I think his mindset in this scene when he looks away isn't "what the hell am I doing?!" so much as "this is ugly business, but it's gonna get me closer to what I want, so screw whatever sentimentality I have for some little girl".
From what we've seen of Andrias, he ISN'T a sociopath; he's well-aware how heinous some of his worst acts are, and he commits them anyway just because he's THAT ruthless about getting what he wants and he's THAT disillusioned with meaningful friendships after what happened with his frog and toad pals. Which makes Andrias an interestingly complex character and also in some ways makes him an even viler person than if he was just a sociopath through and through.
I just couldn't take it when she screamed I started crying my eyes out 😭

Even considering the show being meant for a younger audience, Marcy's screams here are freaking *chilling.*
King Andrias actually looked like he sorta felt bad for her- I mean, he did say that he liked her, although I thought he was lying..and her scream sent a shiver down my spine-
he definitely feels bad but for him the ends justify the means which includes sacrificing someone he cares for
I think he does but he gotta do what he gotta do I guess is what he’s probably thinking but it’s the scream that really gives you chills
Imagine the utter *AGONY* Marcy went through in that moment having thousands and thousands of years of knowledge and newt consciousnesses forcefully downloaded into her brain

They bout to have to pull that one scene when catra was bein controlled by hordprime and adora saved her.

I want a similar scene (maybe less intense?) to Catra's spaceship flashbacks, since we did get Anne's flashbacks to Reunion back in episode 1 of season 2.

What's insulting to me is that their just doing this for shock factor, so they have an excuse to go back to slice of life episodes after this unbelievable.....
is it really though?
@@jasminemohamed823 If it was just shock factor it wouldn't play into the plot. This definitely affects the plot. Also, we've been having plot episodes? Any episode that develops a character *is* a plot episode because it effects the trajectory of future events.
@@willowmunch737 *_This_* episode affects the plot, but just ask yourself. how many episodes it took to get to this point? that's what I mean, yes we did get a Sasha episode in the first half of the season but then surprise, they give us slice of life episodes afterwards with no build up to this moment. Istg once I saw the sprig episode before this one it's almost like they aren't trying at this point, but that's my opinion.
Edit: ok thanks for clarifying some things for me, I can get a better idea of why most of the season isn't a lot of lore of amphibia. But that doesn't mean I didn't enjoy it sometimes but honestly even tho most of the episodes are developing characters which is completely fine, I still felt like their wasn't a lot of tension in the story to build up to this point. So for me it's a little insulting as someone who gave half of season 2 a chance and gave up once I realized nothing important would happen. Then I found out something actually did happen, so for me that's not great story telling, but if anyone likes the show you can take this with a grain of salt I'm not trying to Force anyone to like anything. I know I was a little harsh in the first comment and I apologize for that matter, have a nice day
@@jasminemohamed823 well I don’t think that’s fair, considering 1. I feel like that’s kinda something they have to do, considering Disney’s whole dumb “Disney Brand” thing (if u don’t know what I’m talking about, stuff to do with the show The Owl House), and 2. The show has kinda always done that, iirc. Yeah There was definitely more of a “shadow” of the last important episode on later ones, but in no way was it just story (season 1 was mostly slice of life).

Like is the core truly a hive mind or is every mind conditioned to have a singular directive against their will? Or does every mind follow a primary personality (being The Core) that desires knowledge and power at a Multiversal scale? I mean Marcy got assimilated to the core so I’m just trying to wrap my head around how she’d be able to differentiate herself from who knows how many minds
I think it works as a hive mind who needed a host, and used the smartest human it could find, ie- Marcy, and now it's probably gonna be up to Anne and Sasha to free Marcy by disconnecting her from the mind. Probably by removing the helmet and armor she has on.
Who knows, maybe Marcy is gone and will never come back. If what you say is true it’s possible she may never have a happy ending.

It looks a *hell* of a lot smaller than before, doesn't it? Also, notice how in The First Temple the creature has 13 eyes, while this one has 9.
Unless these were all scale and design errors, *there's probably a bigger one somewhere else.*

I know it's horrible for Marcy to get possessed by the core, but am I the only that's wondering what happened to Olivia and Yunan after this episode?! I really want to know right now.
