Duuuude! This video helped me tons! I've been down shifting wrong this whole time but I'm glad I learned something knew in this vid! This video is literally the ultimate explanation of downshifts. Thanks man, really appreciate it.
I was a semi truck driver, where you (should) double-clutch whenever shifting. Rev-matching down shifts is nothing with a diesel truck, and even easier with your 5.0. Going to say however, use this technique when you NEED to - otherwise just be smooth with the clutch when driving in an adutlt-like fashion. 😎
So is it clutch in, shift into gear, blip throttle, then let out on the clutch or are you supposed to blip the throttle and let off the clutch simultaneously??
Now do a double clutching tutorial...basically rev matching with an extra step. Engage clutch; blip throttle; shift to nuetral and blip throttle, then go into gear. All at lightning speed 🤙it takes practice but the additional throttle blip in nuetral allows the synchros to align more accurately than a basic rev match.
If you’re looking for someone to wash your car locally in Sac, there’s these guys who have a mobil car wash called The Sud Studs (IG and FB). They do good work at an affordable price on my 5.0 and did a good job paint correcting and ceramic coating my white 5.0
I can revmatch ok, about 85% of shifts are smooth. I don’t do it all the time because I just neutral early and then slowly stop when regularly drive to save brakes. I can’t heel toe yet. It’s hard being tall driving an NB Miata 😂
I wear size 12 shoes and it's hard for me to heel toe on my 2012. FYI I'm more than familiar with heel toe technique...im a drummer. The S197mustang brake and gas pedals are just too far apart and not on the same plane. I bought an Autoblip and now I look forward to red traffic lights.
Brother do you have the 3.73 gears? because i can hear gear whine on this video. must annoy you like mine do to me. Damn why must these mustangs have this stupid gear whine. it drives me crazy. i am so happy otherwise with my 2012 Shelby GT500.
You just taught a 68 year old man some cool tips Jacob, but just one little question does it not cause a little extra wear on the clutch? Just curious. 😎👍
I don't really see the benefits of downshifting while driving day to day, downshifting puts added strain on the engine & transmission. Much rather just waste my brake pads that cost much cheaper to replace. PS - I've watched a few of your vids, I have a 5.0 myself, keep up the good work. Thanks for the great content, not trying to put you or the content down by any means. Just wanted to put in my two cents.
@@michaelharris748 As far as I'm concerned smooth downshift would still cause very minimal wear, every time clutch is engaged there is some wear and strain, wether you are professional driver or not. I always thought main goal of downshifting is to be in the right gear for the exit of the corner or when passing (while racing). But when slowing for a stop, in a daily drive, outside the track, just seems unnecessary with no real benefits. But I am by no means an expert.
You should always be in an "escape" gear when coming to a stop. I'm never ever just in neutral approaching an intersection. You've gotta be prepared to get tf outta the way if you see someone barreling down on your in the rear view 😳
Build up you credit and finance it. And save up money to for a good size down payment. So your monthly payment won't be so high. I live in Florida, and a good new gt 5.0 could cost anywhere from 35,000 to 57,000 dollars. Depending on the toys you got inside it. I got a 2019 with 18,000 miles, and the person that had it took good care of it. It look brand new. I got it for 40,000. They are fun to drive but not cheap. Or you can go with the 4 cylinder ecobost, the start out at 27,000 brand new. I got used because the warranty is better, 100,000 mile is alot better the 36,000.
My friend just bought a 2014 v6 premium with 50k miles for 17k 😭😭 I feel so bad I tried to warn him so many times before he bought it that he was getting ripped off. It’s 100% stock
Doty - "there's only two reasons to down shift... 1 to expand your brake life... 2 to look and sound cool" Also Doty - "downshifts help you get to a gear with higher RPM in order to go faster" Me - 🧐🧐 .... So three reasons to downshift? Lol
Black s197 gang✊🏼 I have the same problem even though all my pads and rotors are perfect lol idk why my brakes squeal
Not exclusive to your s197, my s550 does the same thing. They squeal until they get heat in them 😂
So what about coasting to a red light in neutral? I just toss it in neutral till I stop instead of downshifting.

I rev match so much, now even when I’m “driving normal” I still do it.
That’s how it should be! Less wear and tear on your clutch and trans too
Ur always supposed to rev match while downshifting

#truu I do it so much, not even realizing it because it’s normal to me😂

I down shift/rev match every shift! You save so much on your brakes, I pretty much only use my brakes for emergencies.
Bro you are just passing that wear to the engine and transmission, breaks only cost 50 bucks to replace no big deal
ps31871 10 years or 100k miles extended warranty, I’m not worried. Also, BRAKES aren’t 50 lol.
This video helped so much, thank you 🙌🏼🙌🏼

Is it the same as in semi truck?

Hey Jacob can we still use your discount code for the carbon fiber interior dash over lay?
Yes!

Wow!! I cant even imagine not driving like this. This is the only way I know how. Lol...

Been trucking for over 15 yrs now so rev matching is second nature
Looking sharp 👌 I definitely would like to buy one of these years in the mustangs great future classics....great video content 😁
What kind of wheels are those?

Song at the end?
you have my dream car except i want light blue not yellow accents but it’s still a beautiful 5.0!

The point is if its done correctly it dont add wear it should be smooth if it isnt youre not doin it right.

My dad has the same point of view as well on it so it was good seeing this perspective brought up
If I'm approaching a stop going 50 in 6th I'll just clutch in neutral and coast

Bro I love your videos ! Keep up the work brotha!
Can some people give me some tips onto how to save up or get money to get a good mustang as a high schooler

Ouch. I paid $6k more for my premium 16 GT lol.
I got a 2013 v6 not premium wit 76k miles for 12k is that bad?
Whats the name of your phone holder 😂
The 2019 gt 5.0's automatically do the rev match.
Will you gone Supercharger it bruh. Kno you got that UA-cam money save up
I thought rev matchin was just something that was obvious basic knowledge. Didn’t know rev matchin was something people choose to do if they want to
I have a ruby red 14 gt and it’s really hard to keep clean as well but not as bad as black haha
