Great video footage! I don't think I am as old as you guys ;), but as a lad of 11 in 1996 I used to sit on a bridge at Mirlees on the NMC1 the line between Hazel grove high level junction and Northenden junction. I remember the 37's and the 60's but never saw 31's :(. I moved away to Scotland in 2002 only to end up working for Network rail and moving back to Stockport last year lol Nowadays I have the pleasure of working all over Peak with the Tech team, no 37's left though :( Cheers
Absolutely superb luvit thanks for uploading i model peak forrest in oo gauge and have the 37's 60016 + other tugs and similar 31's for my trains just a shame theres no ICI kit still!!! Cheers, Jon37686
To MrStapletonRoad Hi Eddy I used to use that, too, with a Canon something or other with massive zoom. Then I converted it to VHS for safe keeping, and then DVD. Yes, back in days of stream, of course, I could not have afforded the film, let alone the travelling! . . . Alan
@balmesh Hi Alan, I have always filmed on Hi8, in hindsight I wish I had used SVHS but at the time I decided that was the way forward, I had a nice Canon camera which maximised the formats potential. Glad you liked the clips, like most of us we all wish we had started filming or photographing earlier. It must of been amazing to see 20s or 40s working in the area. Eddie
nice vid. that train has come out of Tunstead works btw, not Hindlow, the line to the left goes to Buxton and Hindlow, the track this came on comes out of Tunstead works via Great Rocks tunnel.
@MrStapletonRoad Hi Eddie, yes its the best job in the world lol no one at work knows I like trains though ;) I just with there were still the older diesels about these days. I am sick of seeing 66's I enjoy the odd 60 but apart from that its just the 150's and 156's up the BEJ to Buxton and the 142 pacers up through Chinley with the 158's, the 185's etc.. are far to modern and don't pay any attention,l apart from getting out the way of them lol there are still some 20's at Earles sidings! Billy
Beautiful! Son and I were there 15 years ago, but the sound is never as good on film. What was your original film taken on? Thanks again for posting. . . . Alan
Very nice. Some classic EE action there. Stu
