    Living Paper - Blender Animation by Julius Burton
    This is a film that I made for the "Bryanston School Film Competition" it took over 40 man hours for me alone to create and about 60 hours to render the animations, I think that it all paid off in the end. Hope you enjoy!!! :)
    Don't forget to Like this video if you Liked it DisLike it if you disliked it and if you really loved it then subscribe so that you can see more of my videos! (why not its free!)
    It is an animation about a boy who discovers that whatever he draws comes to life.
    I made this film using Final Cut Pro for the edit, Blender 2.65.0 for the animations, and Sketch Book Express for some of the textures.
    This short film was shot entirely on the Canon 550d using an 18-55mm lens. For first and last shot I used a camera dolly (tripod on a track) to get a very smooth motion, for the rest of the shots I used a tripod.

    thats some next level procrastination when u literally take so long on your hw that you can cut your hair and then grow it out again before you're finished

      *To everybody wondering about the hair.* Robin is a boy who had long hair, we shot this on two separate days and in between he cut his hair witch meant that we had to try to use headphones and different camera angles to cover it up however this obviously didn't work very well.

    Dennis Dornia Yea I was running out of time at the end so I didn't have time to make changes to the UV maps and the colour of the textures. Also I faded in the shadows at the end on purpose, I cant remember exactly why though, I think it was something to do with the change in lighting as the boy razes his hand away from the car. There where also countless other errors in the animation itself, where the stickman moves through the floor and especially with the masking of the cube when he is holding it. don't forget to have a look at the breakdown! :) Living Paper Breakdown + Before and After

      +Jeferson Inacio , Continuity is something that I will have to work on in future projects. We were filming on two days and a week apart. We also didn't film everything in order and as a result the time changes on the phone and small details about the position of objects etcetera were hard to remember. You actually spotted a couple of things that I had not noticed before like the headphones and the chairs. There were many others as well e.g. books moving on the desk, and the fact that robin cut his hair between the two days that we were filming, as a result we used the headphones to disguise the fact that his hair was short. on top of all of that there were some visual errors like poor masking and incorrect shadows etc.

    The Animation is extremely well integrated! The lighting doesn't looks perfect but that's horribly hard to get right in blender. Very great short! Next time, you should maybe work a little bit more on the story!

    • @JuliusBurton
      @JuliusBurton  10 років тому

      Yea Im not very good at coming up with stories thats why I like to make montages or single shorts, it is definitely something that I will be working on. Also stories need to be at least a couple of minuets so they can take ages to make if they are CGI intensive. I will be building faster computer soon witch should speed up my workflow a lot and help with this.
